Chapter Text
“Hah! See? Do you see this?” Minnie’s rhetorical question was followed by a bark of laughter. The Thai turned to Miyeon and raised an eyebrow, her hand pointing up to the sky as if the light raindrops wetting Miyeon’s hair weren’t enough to indicate that it was raining.
“And what did I tell you? I told you to bring an umbrella but you didn’t. Now guess who’s getting wet? Not me, that’s for sure.” Minnie said as she swung the black umbrella in her hand forward and opened it with a poof.
Miyeon glared at the taller girl beside her and stomped her foot once against the pavement. It was indeed her fault for thinking that it probably wouldn’t rain during their short walk from their dorm to Cube’s building but Minnie didn’t have to rub it all over her face and make her sound like an idiot.
“And just to let you know, I’m not letting you stand under this with me!” Minnie grinned and laughed a little louder as she held the umbrella up above her head and took two steps away from the irked Korean.
“Why are you being like this?” Miyeon frowned and furrowed her eyebrows. She took a step towards Minnie but the Thai swiftly took a step further away. Minnie was joking. Minnie has to be joking and she better cut it out right now because the raindrops were getting bigger and heavier as the seconds went by. The pedestrians were already scrambling to the sides, seeking for shelter.
Miyeon took another step closer to Minnie but the Thai quickly distanced herself again, making Miyeon want to punch the girl so hard she’d go flying across the street or something.
“Being like what?” Minnie lifted both her eyebrows up cheekily and Miyeon crossed her arms across her chest moodily. If this ugly-hearted person didn’t want to share an umbrella, then Miyeon would have no problem with that. She’ll walk to Cube soaked from head to toe if that’s what it takes. If Minnie wants to see Miyeon beg, well, she’s not getting it.
“God, you’re so, ugh!” Miyeon shook her fist at Minnie then stomped off, not caring that countless raindrops were landing on her head and sliding down the side of her face. Humid air blew harshly into her walking figure and Miyeon angrily brushed her wild strands of hair away from her face.
The rain got harsher all of a sudden but none of the raindrops made it to the surface of Miyeon’s skin as a figure was already standing by her side, a big umbrella held firmly above her head.
“I was just joking. Did you really think I was going to let you walk in the rain?” Minnie murmured softly, her voice almost drowning in the sounds of the rain hitting the ground. Miyeon just turned her head away from the face that was leaning closer to her. Still feeling salty, she took a tiny step away from Minnie to only have an arm wrap around her shoulders and pull her back to her original position.
“Don’t be silly. Stay under the umbrella or you’re going to get wet, idiot.”
Miyeon stayed silent and did as she was told. The pair walked in silence and Miyeon tried her hardest to pretend that Minnie’s hand on her shoulder wasn’t making her body feel warm and weird. It was then that she realized the strange angle of the umbrella. Was it just her or was the umbrella super tilted to her side? She turned to the taller girl beside her and her eyes went wide when she realized that nearly half of Minnie’s body was practically out in the rain, her right shoulder now fully drenched.
“Yah! Hold the umbrella properly!” Miyeon screeched out and tried in vain to push the umbrella so that it stood straight between them. However, Minnie’s hand didn’t bulge one bit.
“No.” The Thai simply said.
“You’re getting wet, what the hell are you doing?” Miyeon frantically reasoned out but Minnie just looked straight ahead, totally unbothered by the fact that her shoulder was soaked.
“I am holding the umbrella. If you have eyes, you would be able to see that.”
Miyeon fumed at the sarcastic response she got. And maybe Minnie could tell because the foreigner eventually sighed and moved the umbrella a bit but still not enough to cover herself fully.
“I’m not moving anymore. If I hold it straight,” Minnie trailed off and stared hard into the distance. “Then, you’ll get wet too.” She finally finished off hesitantly.
Miyeon would never forget the blush on Minnie’s cheeks and the butterflies that went wild in her stomach that rainy evening.
