It had been a long day. Not a bad one, just a long one. The school was well established now, and Hank was responsible for the medical needs of all the students and teachers, as well as teaching calculus and physics. But he was loving it.

Even Logan had gotten sucked into teaching, art and physical education, and much as he grumbled, Hank had never seen him happier.

And the kids, the kids were growing so fast. Jade and Jimmy were nearly teenagers now, and Laura was old enough for full-time schooling.

He and Logan had been together now for a half-dozen years, and Hank was just as much in love with his grouchy ex-soldier as ever.

They'd all eaten dinner at the main house, neither he nor Logan wanting to cook, just wanting to eat and get the kids started on their homework, maybe share a few beers on the couch after.

Logan already had a head start as Hank came into the living room, two empty beer bottles already lined up on the coffee table, a third, half-empty, cradled in one broad hand. He smiled softly up at Hank and patted the couch cushion beside him.

Hank folded himself up next to his husband, fitting himself neatly against Logan's side. It always seemed like that spot was just made for him.

Logan wrapped one burly arm around Hank's shoulders as he drained his third beer. He kissed the top of Hank's head. "Missed ya."

"Logan, it's been half an hour since you saw me."

"Half an hour too long." He leaned forward to snag two fresh beers. "Have a beer, and we can cuddle. Know ya like that." He popped the bottle caps off, pushed one into Hank's hand, then nuzzled his neck.

Hank smiled to himself. Logan might pretend to not like such things, might pretend to still be half-feral, but Hank knew his secret: Logan was an absolute teddy bear.

Hank took a long pull of his beer. It was hardly his favorite drink, yet he had come to appreciate the gentle relaxation of the alcohol coupled with his husband's warm presence as a fine way to unwind at the end of a long day.

Hank rested his head on Logan's massive pectoral muscle and let his eyes fall closed. Logan's hand went to the back of his neck, began a gentle massage that gradually also worked deep into the tired muscles of his shoulders and upper back.

Hank melted against his husband, weariness and Logan's massage sending him into a sleepy haze. He woke only when Logan called his name, letting him know it was time to get up and get the kids to bed.

But that interruption was all right. Afterward he'd get to cuddle with his husband all night long.
