We never said it but we knew that there’s really just one thing that we have in common: neither of us will be missed.
Faint noises came from across the house.
Footsteps and the click of a gun cocking.
Someone was in the house.
I shot my gaze towards Owen, eyes widened.
My voice was shaky as I began to speak.
“A Saint Bernard sits at the top of the driveway.”
He recognized what that meant immediately.
Thank god for code words.
"You always said how you love dogs."
I continued out of pure fear as Owen went to get his gun.
I don't know if I count but I knew he loved as much as one.
Maybe more than one.
I'm trying my best not to cry.
We would die if he wasn't fast enough.
I didn't know why they wanted to kill us but they did.
Maybe they… knew.
Finally the tears fell.
I felt like a dog as I'm howling and barking these songs… BANG!
