Chapter Text
"Dammit. DAMMIT!" Shunsuke muttered. This was his only day off this week and of course the office had to have called him back in, as it tends to be the case with these bureaucrats. He found himself pathetically gripping at a throw pillow lazily placed on his apartment sofa. He gave a long mournful look at his apartment as he weakly threw the pillow back and put on his Suit's Jacket. Leaving for work on his only day off.
Racing to get to his office on time he found himself tapping on his driver's wheel stuck in traffic. He thought about slamming his fist into the car's horn but figured that would be more trouble than it was worth, so he just sat there, mindlessly attempting to drive back to ASU-NARO. When he finally got there he was greeted by the rude secretary who wouldn't even give him a greeting's glace at first.
"u-um..I...need to go inside to see the boss." Shunsuke stuttered out. The secretary said nothing but gave him a look that started as disgust but slowly shifted to one of pity.
"Just...go, they already have your name writen in here Sansuke." she said loudly typing on the Computer infront of her
"My name isn't- it's not...okay thank you..." He figured this might as well have happened to him. First he gets called in on his day off, then he gets stuck in traffic, and finally the goddamn secretary can't even remember his name. He went into the elevator and pressed the button he needed, thankfully no one stepped into the elevator with him. It was a slow elevator ride up and Shunsuke just wanted it all to be over. He stared at the raising number. It just kept going up and and up. Nothing else in this cold metal prison box...just...him and the numbers.
He walked into the office and grabbed a coffee on the way to the boss' office, he figured he deserved it. It was shitty of course since it was office coffee, but he continued to drink it. As he stepped into the office he was met with an angry man, arms crossed staring at him.
"What the hell took you so long?"
"I was caught in traffic and I already finished my assignment on the profiles so-"
"You think that's an excuse? I've been busting my ass over here after Sou's death!"
"Sou's...dead?" The news hit him slowly at first, but soon he tried his hardest not to show his glee. He had never liked Sou Hiyori and had always considered him to be somewhat of an abuser. It was upsetting of course, to hear that a coworker had died but Shunsuke couldn't help but feel some weird happiness that he no longer had to deal with Sou's bullshit. His boss however disagreed with this notion but Shunsuke could care less. He still had to keep up the sympathetic act however. "That's terrible! H-how did it happen?"
"Bastard got himself killed by the prison fuck." the boss man started
"Prison...fuck?"
"Alice Yabusumthin or whatever...Didn't you make a profile on him?"
"Y-yes I did sir uhm- it should be-"
"Good! Then you'll be the one to work out the legalities of Sou's murder."
"What!? But! I-I'm not a lawyer sir!"
"You talking back to me?"
"N...no sir..."
"Then go, I've already given you directions on your phone. The paper work is on your desk and I want it back pronto."
Shunsuke fought the urge to yell, this was so unfair. Sou dies so now instead of hiring someone else Shunsuke's forced to pick up his work. Now he has to go to a prison filled with society's problematic individuals and talk to a murderer. This was just the cherry on top of his terrible day. Grabbing the files from his desk and making his way back to the car he could see his other coworkers whispering and laughing. How long? How long would he have to endure this pointless suffering. One day, he can only hope that all of this unnecessary waste of his time ends.
