Work Header

you're my happiness

Summary:

As Beomgyu returns to his room, it dawns on him. It’s no longer Soobin and Beomgyu’s room, it’s just his room. In this dorm, Soobin isn’t an arm’s length away, but instead, there’s a thick wall separating them. There’s a barrier that Beomgyu didn’t have to cross before, and that’s terrifying.

aka TXT move dorms, Soobin and Beomgyu get their own rooms, and Beomgyu takes it harder than he expected.

Work Text:

“Shotgun this room! Taehyunnie, you’ll room with me, right?” Kai calls from what is apparently the biggest bedroom, and the only one with a bunk bed.

“Sounds good! The hyungs probably want their own rooms anyway.” Taehyun chuckles.

“Yes! A room without Soobin-hyung~” Beomgyu smiles, making his way to inspect the other rooms.

“Don’t come crying to me afterwards that you miss me.” Soobin teases.

“Yeah, right! Same goes for you, hyung!”

“At least I don’t have to worry about getting locked out of my room anymore.” Soobin laughs.

Beomgyu spends the whole afternoon setting up his new room, mostly putting his clothes away and moving some of his old furniture in. He has to admit, it does feel weird setting up a room for just himself. He can hear Taehyun and Kai talking faintly in the background, deciding how their room should look and where to put everything, because of the new layout. He remembers when he and Soobin had also moved into their new (now old) room, and when Soobin complained of how much space Beomgyu’s clothes took up.

“What do you expect? I’m the more fashionable one out of us.” Beomgyu smiled smugly.

“Having more clothes doesn’t make you more fashionable, Beomgyu-yah.” Soobin argued.

“Hey, at least I have a variety of clothes!”

“Take that back, Choi Beomgyu!”

Beomgyu chuckles to himself, remembering how they bickered over something so silly, or even small things like fighting over who would sleep on the top bunk. They’d decided it through a game of rock, paper, scissors, and Beomgyu won, giving Soobin the bottom bunk. Soobin would complain about Beomgyu’s sleep talking and Beomgyu would complain about Soobin’s alarms, but it became commonplace.

Now, Beomgyu gets to set up his own single bed, and he doesn’t need to worry about leaving space for Soobin’s things. But he has to admit that the room feels weird without Soobin’s shoes, or his gaming equipment and various belongings thrown around the room.

Beomgyu supposes it’s just something he has to get used to.

He walks into Soobin’s room to visit (even that sounds weird), and stares in awe at Soobin’s layout. There are all of Soobin’s belongings, just without Beomgyu’s to accompany them.

“Wow, you didn’t even last an hour-”

“I’m visiting all the rooms, silly.”

“And yet you visit mine first?”

“Because it’s the closest!”

“Sure, Jan.”

“I’m leaving.”

“Come back later!” Soobin teases.

Beomgyu didn’t end up going back to Soobin’s room, determined to prove that he can last without him (although it’s petty, because there’s nothing wrong with wanting to hang out with Soobin anyway). He bids the other members good night, and retreats to his room. His room. Not Soobin and Beomgyu’s room.

As he lays in bed to fall asleep, staring at the ceiling (which is a lot farther than before, because he isn’t sleeping on a top bunk), his first thought is that it feels weird. It feels weird not to talk with Soobin about their day, or to bicker before they sleep. It feels weird not to send Soobin a funny tweet or video and to hear him laugh from below.

Everything is silent, and Beomgyu doesn’t like it.

Silence used to mean that Soobin had fallen asleep, and it was a reminder to Beomgyu that he should probably sleep too. Of course, while this only applied to the times when they’d go to bed at the same time, it was still somewhat comforting to hear another person in the room.

Beomgyu simply isn’t used to Soobin’s absence, as much as he tries to convince himself otherwise. He isn’t used to being alone

Perhaps it would feel more apparent in the morning, not being able to wake up and hear Soobin’s light snoring, or the way he’d be woken up by Soobin shaking him or annoying him. Maybe if he was lucky, Soobin would still wake him up like that.

Beomgyu turns, trying not to dwell on it and sleep instead. It doesn’t come easily, though. He doesn’t know why. How could a change as small as losing his roommate have such an impact on him?

‘No.’ Beomgyu thinks. ‘This is nothing. It’s just hard adjusting to a new room. That’s it.’

He turns his music on and closes his eyes once more.

Alas, he wakes up to his new ceiling and more silence. His door is closed, so he doesn’t know if any of the others are awake. They don’t have a schedule until dance practice in the afternoon, so for all he knows, they might still be sleeping.

Beomgyu feels like he should be happy, but why is he anything but happy? He should be happy to have a room to himself, but instead, he feels unsettled and it... doesn’t feel right. Did he really rely on Soobin’s presence to such an extent that he feels this thrown off without him?

He grunts and decides to get up anyway, needing to wash his face and wake up properly. He opens his door and walks down the hallway, past Soobin and Yeonjun’s room, to get to the bathroom. Soobin’s room door is still closed, but Yeonjun’s is open, and Beomgyu can hear the faint noise of their new TV. After washing his face, he walks into their living room to find Yeonjun curled up on their couch, eating noodles.

“Morning.” Yeonjun greets him.

“What’re you watching?”

“Just flicking through channels. This channel is mostly movies.”

“Figures you’d find the movie channel first.” Beomgyu chuckles and takes a seat next to Yeonjun. Even sitting on a couch is weird. They never had one in their old dorm, because they didn’t need one or have the room for it.

“How’d you sleep? You’ve got your own room now.” Yeonjun asks.

‘Terrible.’ Beomgyu thinks to himself.

“Fine. I’m not a baby.”

“I never said you were.” Yeonjun laughs lightly. “Are you missing Soobin already?”

“N-No! Why would I miss Soobin?” Beomgyu blurts instantly.

“There’s nothing wrong with it, y’know.”

“I don’t miss Soobin.”

“Sure. You can always talk to me when you do, then.” Yeonjun smiles knowingly, to Beomgyu’s annoyance.

“That won’t happen. I’m perfectly fine, and that’s that.”

Beomgyu goes to make himself breakfast, ignoring Yeonjun’s accusations. There’s no way he’d miss Soobin. He’s not that dramatic. Heck, they still live together, just in separate rooms. How does not being able to fall asleep or wake up together in the same room make any difference?

(A lot, apparently.)

When Soobin wakes up a few hours later, he tells Yeonjun the same thing: that he slept fine, and that no, he didn’t miss Beomgyu at all. (To which Beomgyu smugly says, “I didn’t miss you either.”)

Later that night, Beomgyu realises that it isn’t just falling asleep and waking up together. Now that they have separate rooms, they also have their own space to hang out. Whenever Beomgyu needed time to himself, he’d simply lie in his bed with his earphones in, and Soobin would understand immediately. Now, Beomgyu doesn’t have to worry about Soobin disrupting his personal space or about going out to clear his mind.

Having his own space is both nice for a change, and yet completely terrifying.

Beomgyu realises, with his door locked as he sits on his bed, listening to music and trying not to cry, that being alone is scary. Having the ability to hide himself even more… that itself, is terrifying. In a way, it feels like it’s enabling him to hide his real emotions from not only his members, but Soobin, the person he often confided in.

Perhaps now, he understands. He understands what Yeonjun felt whenever he’d come home from the company, tired and frustrated before locking himself in his room to cool off. Behind closed doors, Beomgyu never knew what Yeonjun might be going through by himself. But without fail, he’d come out, visibly calm and with a smile to reassure the members. Beomgyu could never understand the struggles his hyung went through, nevertheless the ones he tackled alone.

Was it time for Beomgyu to tackle his troubles without Soobin? Was he expected to be more independent now? Could he no longer rely on Soobin, because there was a physical wall between them now?

When they were in the same room, talking to Soobin about his worries, big or small, came naturally. He knew Soobin wouldn’t judge him, and that he’d do his best to comfort and reassure him. Rationally, Beomgyu knows that Soobin is still there (he always has been), but somehow, going to his room specifically to talk to him is an extra step that Beomgyu is afraid of taking. It feels more serious. He remembers when Taehyun would knock on the door, asking if Soobin could go for a walk with him, or if he could talk with Soobin, and Beomgyu would always comply, as if Taehyun needed permission to take Soobin from him. It always felt like something serious and personal, a conversation only they could have, that Beomgyu wasn’t included in.

Was it going to be like that from now on? Him knocking on Soobin’s door and asking for his time, unlike his spontaneous rants whenever they’d hang out in their room together? Could he no longer go to Soobin’s room just because he wanted to hang out with him and see him?

In Beomgyu’s mind, Soobin’s room becomes something forbidden. A place he can’t approach without a proper reason. Perhaps part of it is Beomgyu’s fear that he’ll be teased for missing Soobin. Beomgyu doesn’t want to appear weak. He wants to be independent. He’s a hyung to Taehyun and Kai, so he shouldn’t appear so needy.

(That’s what this is all about, isn’t it? In the end, Beomgyu just misses his ex-roommate, but he doesn’t want to admit it.)

But instead of telling someone about it, Beomgyu keeps it to himself, and he goes to sleep with even more worries than the previous night. Soobin hadn’t visited his room all day, so neither will he.

For the next few days, most of his and Soobin’s interactions are jokes and banter regarding their new sleeping arrangement. Soobin boasts about how nice it is to have his own room, and to not wake up to Beomgyu’s weird sleep talking, and Beomgyu boasts about how he can sleep without disruption, or without being woken up by Soobin’s alarms.

Beomgyu laughs and keeps up the independent act, hiding all of his worries behind a mask. If Soobin is fine, he’s fine. If Soobin is unfazed, he can’t be bothered by this either. Or at least, he can’t show it.

Soobin is enjoying his single room without Beomgyu, so Beomgyu needs to show it too. He’s completely fine without Soobin.

It’s all going well (according to Beomgyu), until his fifth sleepless night without Soobin. He’s been relying on music to help him fall asleep (after about 30 minutes of being conscious and buzzing with thoughts), but tonight, his inner desires grow a little stronger than his rational mind. He knows it’s a bad idea. If he does this, it means that he’s giving in, exposing himself and becoming vulnerable. But Beomgyu knows it himself, most of all, that he misses Soobin. These past few days have felt suffocating, to say the least. He still joked around with Soobin and talked with him during their practices and schedules, but once they get home, it’s like Beomgyu has to put on the mask all over again. And he’s tired of it.

He sits up in bed, restless and unable to fall asleep, even with his music, and he decides that he’s had enough. He’s tried to keep himself away, but he can’t anymore. All Beomgyu wants is to be able to talk to Soobin. To be honest with him. To bare himself and not have to hide anymore. He’s tired, and he wants to find rest in Soobin.

He gets out of bed, fixes his hair, and then makes his way to the door.

‘You just can’t sleep. You can’t sleep, and you want to sleep with Soobin. Not because you miss him. Just because you need extra warmth, that’s all.’ Beomgyu recites in his mind to convince himself.

He opens his door, but to his surprise, the tall member he was just about to visit is already standing at his door.

“Why are you still up?” Soobin raises an eyebrow.

“Why are you still up?” Beomgyu asks back.

“Don’t dodge the question.” Soobin chuckles.

“I needed a drink.” Beomgyu scratches his neck. “Your turn.”

“I was just checking if you were asleep yet.”

“You know, that sounds a bit creepy, hyung.”

“Whatever! Go get your water, then. You’re clearly not asleep yet.”

Soobin turns to go back to his room, but Beomgyu catches his wrist.

“Did you need something from me?” Beomgyu asks softly.

Soobin pauses, as if contemplating something.

“Just wanted to check in on you, I guess.”

“Why?”

“You know why. Don’t hide it from me, Beomgyu-yah.” Soobin ruffles his hair. “We’ve both been avoiding each other.”

Soobin smiles a little sadly, then drops his hand.

“Nevermind, we can talk tomorrow-”

“I wanted to talk with you too.”

Beomgyu looks at Soobin firmly, hands fisted at his sides to stop shaking from the nerves. He had wanted to talk, and so did Soobin. Beomgyu had already decided that he wanted to be honest, so this was his chance.

“I have a water bottle next to my bed, hyung.” Beomgyu says, then looks down nervously. “I wanted to visit your room because I couldn’t sleep.”

“Neither could I.”

Beomgyu gasps softly and looks up, met with Soobin’s fond gaze, and a hand that envelops his in warmth.

“Let’s go then.” Soobin whispers, leading Beomgyu to his room quietly.

Soobin lies down in his bed with his arm stretched out for Beomgyu to rest on his shoulder. Beomgyu shyly climbs in next to him, fitting his head on Soobin’s shoulder and being pulled snugly against him by the waist.

It’s silent for a few minutes with Beomgyu relaxing in Soobin’s embrace and breathing in his comforting scent that he’s missed more than he realised. Soobin rubs his back gently as he exhales softly, smiling at Beomgyu and feeling at peace.

“I missed you.”

Beomgyu looks up, slightly surprised at Soobin’s confession. He expects Soobin to be embarrassed or shy, but all he can see is Soobin’s soft smile and his crescent eyes. They’re full of a fondness Beomgyu can’t place.

‘Oh.’ Beomgyu thinks. ‘Soobin-hyung felt the same way.’

“I… I missed you too, hyung.” Beomgyu whispers, finally putting his feelings into words. “I’m… I’m sorry for avoiding you. I think having a room to myself and being without you has been… harder than I’d like to admit.”

“That makes two of us.” Soobin chuckles, brushing Beomgyu’s hair absentmindedly. “I miss sharing a room with you. As much as having a room to myself is nice, it just isn’t the same.”

“It’s too quiet.”

“Exactly.”

The two giggle in agreement, thankful that the other feels the same. It reminds Beomgyu of before, when they knew what the other felt without even asking. When they didn’t have to speak words to be on the same wavelength. Maybe they were never out of sync in the first place.

“I’m glad you wanted to talk to me. I’ve been scared and worried this whole time… and I thought it was just me. I… I felt lonely, hyung.” Beomgyu looks up at him wearily.

“Oh, Beomgyu-yah...” Soobin coos and rubs a thumb over his hand. “You know you can still talk to me, right?”

“I do. It’s just… I think I was too proud. I didn’t want to admit that I missed you, and going to your room just to talk to you felt weird.”

“I know what you mean. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve looked up or turned my head to tell you something, only for you to be in the other room.” Soobin chuckles sadly.

“Hyung…” Beomgyu understands. He’s done it too; a force of habit.

“I miss it when we’d send each other stuff before bed, and wait for the other to react to it out loud.” Soobin laughs.

God, Beomgyu missed his laugh. This one is different from his laugh when they’re around the other members, or laughing out loud on set. It’s light and airy, meant to fill the empty spaces of Soobin’s silent room. It’s just for the two of them.

“I guess you’ll just have to laugh harder through the walls.” Beomgyu jokes, earning a giggle from both of them.

“Well, now that we’ve talked, I hope there’s nothing awkward between us.” Soobin says. “And I won’t tease you about missing me anymore.”

Beomgyu blushes, glad that Soobin can’t see it in the dark.

“Thank you for that. The others would never let us live it down.” Beomgyu sighs with a smile.

“You know you’re always welcome in my room anyway.”

“Same to you.”

“Come on, let’s sleep, or we’ll be too tired for tomorrow.” Soobin yawns and hugs Beomgyu close.

“What about the others?” Beomgyu asks softly.

“Lucky for you, I remembered to lock my door.”

“What about mine, though? They’ll see that I’m missing.”

Soobin freezes. He didn’t think about that.

“Hyung will-”

“I’m not waking you up. You set your own alarm.”

“But hyuuuuuung~” Beomgyu pouts. “I’ll end up waking you anyway. And besides, I left my phone in my room.”

“You’re so annoying.”

Beomgyu just grins in response.

And that night, they both sleep peacefully, wrapped in each other’s embrace and comforting presence.

And if anyone (read: Yeonjun) notices Beomgyu missing from his room and Soobin’s room conveniently locked, they don’t mention it.

Beomgyu is proud to admit that he feels lighter, more free. After talking it out with Soobin, he feels less distant, and the barrier he needed to cross to get into Soobin’s room is no longer there. It’s safe to say that there are days where he spends more time in Soobin’s room than his own, and vice versa.

“Looks like they’re back to normal.” Taehyun chuckles one afternoon as he’s sitting on the couch with Kai, waiting for Yeonjun to bring snacks.

“They finally talked about it and got over the weirdness.” Yeonjun says, returning from the kitchen and sitting next to Taehyun.

“You heard them?” Kai asks.

“Nope. I just know.” Yeonjun laughs to himself.

“Well, either way, at least we didn’t have to intervene.” Taehyun shrugs.

“We were serious about that?” Kai tilts his head.

“Did you see them? They hardly talked to each other at home.” Taehyun replies.

“Stop gossiping, kids. Let’s watch a movie or something.” Yeonjun grabs the remote.

“Yes, mother.” They chorus, laughing.

“I thought I was the dad!”

Meanwhile, Beomgyu and Soobin don’t pay any attention, as if living in their own world that consists of only the two of them. It’s not unusual for Beomgyu to lie on Soobin’s bed, scrolling on his phone while Soobin prefers to game, or for Soobin to lie on Beomgyu’s bed while he plays the guitar. They fall into a natural rhythm, finding their place in each other’s space again. After all, being together is much better than being alone.

‘This,’ Beomgyu thinks, ‘is where I belong. With Soobin.’

(But of course, Beomgyu would never admit this to Soobin.)

Sleeping in Soobin’s bed also becomes a habit that Beomgyu doesn’t like to acknowledge. In his mind, he just has nights where he can’t sleep very well, and he knows that it can be fixed by sleeping with Soobin.

Besides, the older member doesn’t complain, instead happily opening his door and making a space for Beomgyu on the bed automatically.

Through sleeping together so often, Beomgyu learns that he likes it when Soobin combs his hair, especially because he’s growing it out. It almost feels as soothing as when Soobin rubs his back with small circles. When he’s cuddling Soobin, he feels safe and protected, his smaller figure being held close by Soobin’s larger figure. When he’s with Soobin, it’s like all of his worries dissipate instantly, because he knows he can trust his leader with anything. When he’s lying warmly in Soobin’s arms, there’s nothing for him to worry about.

“Shhh… Worry later, Beomie-ah.” Soobin whispers to him.

Sometimes, they stay up until the middle of the night talking, and sometimes they just sleep. That’s just the way it is. Their new rhythm.

‘Maybe...’ Beomgyu thinks, ‘There’s something good that came out of splitting us up.’

Even when Soobin decides to get a baby hedgehog called Odi, Beomgyu doesn’t stop visiting. In fact, he now has an excuse to visit, claiming he wants to get closer to Odi. (But really, he wants to spend more time with Soobin.)

Odi still raises his spines when Beomgyu enters the room, cautious of the stranger in the room, but Soobin hushes the small animal and places him back in his cage to ease him. Beomgyu complains, but curls up against Soobin’s side to cuddle him in place.

“One day, Odi and I will be best friends.” Beomgyu says proudly.

“I’ll be waiting a long time.” Soobin jokes, earning a smack on the arm.

“He just hasn’t warmed up to me. Once he does, he’ll be climbing into my hand instead of yours.”

“I can’t tell whether you want to win over Odi, or if you’re jealous of him and you just want more attention.” Soobin chuckles.

“S-Shut up!” Beomgyu blushes. “He’s just cute.”

“Cuter than me?”

‘God, when did Soobin-hyung get so confident? ’ Beomgyu’s mind goes hazy.

“Cuter than you!” Beomgyu blurts.

“You sure about that?” Soobin leans in close.

“Stop getting so-” Beomgyu pushes him lightly. “What are you doing?”

“Well, I think you’re cuter.” Soobin boops Beomgyu’s nose, and then gets up to leave.

Beomgyu is left a blushing mess. Odi just hisses at him.

Promotions start and the pace picks up, but they all love it, performing and being busy while making their fans happy. At a fansign, Beomgyu tells the fans that Soobin has been coming to find him a lot lately, with a smug smile on his face, clearly teasing Soobin because the fans love it.

Taehyun taps his arm and says, “You’re his happiness, so that’s why he looks for you!”

Of course, Soobin shoots it down, laughing as he denies it. Beomgyu calls him weird, Soobin says he’s weirder, and that’s the end of the conversation.

At least, until Beomgyu brings it up at night.

Beomgyu’s cuddled up against Soobin, both ready for sleep after a tiring day. Beomgyu can tell Soobin wants to sleep (as if his yawns couldn’t be any more obvious), but Beomgyu has something to ask first.

“Hyung, am I not your happiness?” Beomgyu whispers, eyes focused on Soobin’s hand that he’s playing with.

Soobin chuckles. Beomgyu frowns. Was Soobin ridiculing him?

“I see. I just wanted to confirm it-”

“Beomie-ah, look at me.” Soobin says softly, squeezing his hand.

Beomgyu blinks back tears and pouts as he looks up at Soobin.

“What?”

“You’ve always been my happiness.”

Soobin cups his cheek, giving Beomgyu that fond smile that takes his breath away.

“Don’t you know, Beomgyu-yah? You always make me smile and laugh. Not just recently, but all the time.” Soobin chuckles.

“I… Really?” Beomgyu’s face softens.

“Really.” Soobin leans in close, then whispers, “I’m in love with you, Beomgyu. Of course you’re the source of my happiness.”

Beomgyu’s breath hitches. His mind goes blank, his heartbeat suddenly sounds louder, and the words caught in his throat.

‘What? Since when? Soobin… likes me? ’ Beomgyu wonders.

“It’s okay if you don’t feel the same way… but I really hope you do.” Soobin chews his lip nervously.

‘This is it.’ Beomgyu thinks. ‘It’s time. No more hiding.’

Beomgyu has already taken off his mask, ever since Soobin talked with him honestly. And because of that, they’ve grown even closer than before. Now, Beomgyu doesn’t have to be afraid. He can be brave, because Soobin took his hand and led the way.

“Hyung…” Beomgyu says. “You don’t see me sleeping with Yeonjun-hyung, and you’re the one I hang out with the most. I always sleep with you because I can’t sleep, but really… it’s because I want to be with you. I want to feel your warmth. Because you, Soobin-hyung, you make me feel safe and comforted.”

Beomgyu takes the hand against his cheek and squeezes it gently.

“I want to be your happiness, because you are mine.”

And Beomgyu will never forget the way Soobin’s face immediately lights up, dimples and all, in the faint glow of moonlight streaming through the window.

Soobin rests his forehead against Beomgyu’s and nuzzles it, even daring to leave a kiss on his cheek, making them flare pink, much to Beomgyu’s embarrassment.

“Hyuuuung~” Beomgyu whines, hiding his face. “You can’t just do that! It isn’t good for my heart!”

Soobin chuckles, “Beomgyu-yah, you’re so cute, it isn’t good for my heart. You don’t know what you do to me.”

Beomgyu shyly removes his hands from his face and hugs Soobin closely, nuzzling his neck.

“L-Let’s just sleep!” Beomgyu pouts.

“Okay. Sleep well, Beomie-yah.” Soobin brushes his hair gently.

It takes Beomgyu a while to stop being embarrassed, but he eventually falls into a deep slumber, snuggled tightly against Soobin’s warmth.

And Beomgyu doesn’t bother going back.

They tried to be subtle about it. They weren’t sure how to bring it up with the members, and they weren’t sure how they’d react to such big news. So they decided that they’d keep it on the down low, still hanging out together, but only leaving their affections to the late hours of the night. Beomgyu didn’t mind. He could hide it, if it meant cuddles and kisses with Soobin at night.

They tried. (The keyword being tried.)

It was merely a week before Soobin went to open his door after a shower, only to find that it was locked. If it were their last dorm, they’d all know instantly that it was Beomgyu that accidentally locked Soobin out, but because it was their current dorm with Soobin’s single room, he had no logical explanation for the predicament he was in.

Kai and Yeonjun were on the couch and Taehyun was getting ready for his turn in the bathroom, but they could all hear the telltale sign of a locked door. To make matters worse, it was the middle of the night, and Beomgyu had apparently retreated to his room for sleep already.

Soobin and Beomgyu were not going to get out of this situation easily, and Soobin understood that.

He had no choice, really.

“Beomgyu-yah! Open the door, you idiot!” Soobin banged on the door, trying to keep his composure.

(Keep in mind that Soobin earnestly thought he and Beomgyu had been able to hide their night shenanigans this whole time.)

With red ears, Soobin dialled Beomgyu’s phone to wake him up.

“Why are you calling me?”  Beomgyu asked sleepily.

“You locked the door, silly. Now everyone’s looking at me weirdly, so hurry up.”

Beomgyu opened the door, yawning in his bear pajamas and stretching his arms.

“Honestly hyung, it’s your fault for taking so long.” Beomgyu said.

“My fault? How does me taking too long have anything to do with your habit of locking doors accidentally?” Soobin groaned.

“Old habits die hard, Soobin-ah.” Yeonjun laughed.

Soobin whipped his head around, cheeks getting warm. “Beomgyu went into the wrong room, that’s all-”

“For the past few months? Yeah, you two ain’t slick.” Taehyun chuckled.

“You’ve known? This whole time?” Soobin gaped.

“You two are so slow. We knew you liked each other probably before you two even knew it.” Kai said playfully.

“Congratulations, though. We never got to say it, since you never explicitly told us.” Yeonjun grinned.

“How… How long have you known?” Beomgyu asked, confused.

“Hyung… Don’t you remember that day? You were so clumsy, running into things and mismatching your shoes and almost eating the seafood sushi and-”

“Okay, okay! I get it!” Beomgyu blushed madly. He didn’t realise just how lovesick and overjoyed he was that day.

“I mean, Soobin wasn’t any better-”

“Okay, good night, all! Don’t stay up too late!” Soobin smiled as he pushed Beomgyu inside and locked the door behind them.

“God, we were really so in love with each other, weren’t we?” Beomgyu laughed, his smile reaching his eyes.

“We tried to hide it, but they knew anyway.” Soobin chuckled, ruffling Beomgyu’s hair.

“Well, at least it all ended well.”

“You’re right. It did.” Soobin wrapped his arms around Beomgyu’s waist and leaned down to kiss him sweetly.

Beomgyu smiled in the kiss, wrapping his arms around Soobin’s neck and kissing back with just as much love and tenderness.

“You make me the happiest..” He whispered.

“And so do you.”

With intermingled laughs and smiles, they couldn’t care about anything else in the world except each other. They kept each other happy and loved, and that was what mattered most.
