Chapter Text
“Sol eonni, make sure to come tomorrow okay?” it was the text message Sol received from Yeseul. Tomorrow is the fitting of wedding gown for Yeseul as well as for her and Sol B because they are her maids of honor.
“How many times do you have to ask me that? :D” she replied. While waiting for her reply, she continued doing her workloads as an attorney. Yes, after years of struggling, finally she passed the bar exam in one take together with her group study friends… including him…
“Well, I have to make sure of it…”
“Since you know…”
“He will be there tomorrow…”
As soon as she read her friend’s reply, she felt a pang in her heart. After 2 years of no contact and avoiding each other every time they have a reunion, tomorrow will be the first time again that they are in the same room together.
“Yah! It has been two years! I’ve moved on!” as soon as she pressed SENT, she sighed.
Tsk. Moved on your ass, Kang Sol.
----PAST ( 5 years ago – 2L )-----
Joonhwi and Kang Sol A were left alone inside their hideout. Their friends went to their rooms to rest their minds because they reviewed everything they have to review for their final exams. Joonhwi was about to go too, but when he noticed that Sol was not keeping her things inside her bags and continued studying, he decided not to.
Of course, Kang Sol used that moment to ask Joonhwi to explain some of the terms and cases that she’s having a hard time of. Once done, Joonhwi let her study on her own and rested his head on his palm, just watching her, like what he always does.
“If you’re having a hard time understanding it, don’t hesitate to ask, hmm?” he told her using his teasing tone.
“Tsk, show-off.” She said and rolled her eyes.
Time check: 01:15 AM
“Aish!” Sol irritatingly said “..Yah, Joonhwi-a” she called for his attention but when she looked at him, he’s already asleep, with his head above his arm. As if a button was pressed, her irritation was suddenly gone when he saw Joonhwi sleeping.
“Tsk, he should have gone to his room instead” she told herself. She was about to wake him up but she stopped herself. There’s something in her that she doesn’t to wake him up and just watched him as he sleeps instead.
‘I’m really thankful that I have you as my friend, Joonhwi… You always take care of us every time we are struggling learning the lectures. You’re always there even when we were dealing with our personal problems…’ Sol thought while absentmindedly leaning closer to him and her hand slowly reaching Joonhwi’s soft bangs.
‘I’m sorry I gave meaning to those kind acts.’ she gently stroked his hair that blocks his eyes. When she felt contented and decided to pack her things and called it a day, a hand suddenly wrapped around her wrist.
‘Oh no. Oh no! Oh no!! Is he awake?’
“Kang Sol…” Joonhwi called her name and he opened his eyes and stared at her deeply.
“J-joonh-hwi...” Sol called him back. ‘Why are you stuttering, Sol!’. She tried to remove his hand on her wrist, but she failed. “Y-yah! You should—you should have told me that you were sleepy… I-I would have understood it and let you go to your room.” She continued while still stuttering. She’s cursing herself now and wished that she should’ve just continue studying the lectures.
Instead of answering, Joonhwi raised his head and continued to stare at Sol… without removing his hand on her wrist. “Joonhwi.” Sol gathered herself before saying his name, she wanted to sound it like a warning to release her wrist, but instead, it sounded like a calm voice, calling his name.
“Narang sagwillae? (Do you want to go out with me?)” (a/n:please forgive, I think it’s more accurate to use the KR translation of it kkkk)
“Eo? Yah! What are you talking about? Ha ha. You’re not asleep anymore. Wake up! Ha ha” Sol couldn’t believe what he had just asked. So, she looked for a way out and told him that.
“I like you, Kang Sol.” Joonhwi simply said as if it’s not making her stomach feel butterflies inside.
‘No, no, Sol. He doesn’t like you. He must have thought that you were the other Kang Sol. Right.’ She dumbly thought to herself that’s why she asked…
“A or B?”
Joonhwi chuckled. “Pabo-ya. You, Kang Sol in front of me. I like—no, love you. Please go out with me and be my girlfriend.” He said while smiling sincerely but was suddenly washed-out of his face as soon as he saw the tears dropping on Sol’s eyes. “H-Hey… It’s okay if you don’t want that relationship and wanted to remain as friends. Please stop cr---” his panic thought was stopped when Sol grabbed his hoodie’s collar and kissed him.
“I love you too, Han Joonhwi, and yes, of course! I’ll be your girlfriend.” She said as soon as she released him from the kiss. She saw how the corner of his lips lifted and formed into a wide cheeky smile and hugged her.
PAST ENDS HERE-----
After reminiscing their past, Kang Sol felt her phone vibrated because of Yeseul’s reply.
“Good. Because Bok Gi just told me that Joonhwi will be your partner walking down the aisle.”
Shit.
“Sol A Eooonniii!!” Yeseul rushed to Sol, yes, she’s calling her with the letter A now because the other Kang Sol is also here.
“Hey! Be careful, you’re wearing a gown!” she said but too late because the other has already reached her and hugged her. “I’m sorry for being late. My clients took a long time to arrive for our scheduled meeting.” She explained, and now she’s pissed again for what had happened earlier. She could’ve just rescheduled their meeting, but her client pleaded not to as today is her only available day for the meeting.
“It’s okay, eonni. The guys are not yet here too. Only us two.” Yeseul said and pointed a curtain-closed area.
“Oh! She had already started?” she asked and Yeseul answered it with a nod. “Eyyy… I should start too! Time is gold. Where should I go?” she reasoned out, the earlier she finished fitting, the lesser the chance to meet Joonhwi.
“There.” Yeseul pointed the assistant in the corner. Sol was about to rush to that assistant, but her friend stopped her. “Eonni, there’s no point of rushing, we have a dinner together later.” She said.
“Aish…” Yeseul laughed with her friend’s reaction and let go of her wrist and went to her cubicle to undress the wedding gown so Bok Gi won’t be able to see it.
At least he won’t see me wearing a dress. She smirked with that thought. I just hope that luck is with me for today.
The assistant gave her the dress that she’s supposed to wear on the wedding day. She smiled and accepted it and the assistant lead the way to a cubicle beside Sol B’s area.
“Hey, Kang Sol”
“Sol eonni?” Sol B answered. “You’re late.” Yep. They had decided to stop calling each other with A and B. Kang Sol A will call the other as ‘Kang Sol’ while the other one will call her with ‘Eonni’.
“Sorry, Sol-a. Are you done?” she asked as she starts undressing her office attire.
“Eung. I’ll go out now.” Sol B simply said. Sol A heard the curtain being drawn, which means that B is already done. Yeseul is also done because she heard her praises for Sol B. “Yah! That looks so nice on you!”
Now that she has no one to talk to, she focused on dressing herself until she heard Yeseul’s voice…
“Jagi!” no way! “You’re done already?” she asked his fiancé.
“Eung. Joonhwi hyung just parked the car.” Bok Gi explained. Now that she heard that name, she couldn't focus wearing the dress.
“Argh, why is it so hard to zip this? Tsk.” She said to herself as she tries reaching the slider of the zipper. The assistant might have heard it because she peaked and asked if she needs an assist which she gladly accepted.
She fixed her hair while the assistant is fixing the dress “Should we adjust the size of this dress, Miss?” the assistant asked. “No need. I just got my lunch before this that’s why.” Sol explained, but she knows that it is not the real reason why, it is because she’s starting to panic.
“Sol eonni?” Yeseul called her name. “Oh! She’s here?” she heard Bokgi asked.
“Yes?”
“Is there a problem?” Yeseul asked. She was about to answer that everything is okay, but the shop’s door opened.
“Congratulations, Yeseul-ah.” Joonhwi said as soon as he entered the room.
Bad luck. Bad luck. Bad luck.
“Oooohh! Sol B, that looks nice on you!” she heard him said. She’s getting more nervous now. ‘What would he say once he sees me…’ she thought.
“All is set, Ma’am” the assistant told Sol after fixing the dress on her body. She nodded and thanked her. Now is the time to go out and let the others see the dress she’s wearing but she couldn’t even draw the curtain in front of her.
“Yeseul-ah. This dress looks great. No need for adjustments or anything.” That’s why she decided to never go out in that cubicle wearing that dress.
“Eonni! I need to see if it really fits your size as well as the color and the design.” Yeseul insists.
“Haha. Wait, I’ll send you a picture.” She counters and was about to get her phone, but then the curtain was suddenly drawn in front of her. She looked for the culprit and it’s no other than the younger Sol. “Yah!” and turn her back. Now, she’s facing the mirror and her friends are looking at her back.
“Niceu!” Yebeom shouted.
“Turn around, Sol eonni.” Sol B calmly said. She signaled her hand as wait and pretend to fix the front of her gown.
“Noona, did you gain weight?” Jiho teasingly asked her. Out of anger, she turned and accidently faced her friends
“Yah! Seo Jiho, you--!” she stopped because instead of Jiho, which is by now hiding behind Yebeom, her and Joonhwi’s eyes met. But she looked away and went out to Jiho. “You think you can hide from me, huh!?” and punched Jiho’s arm as soon as she saw him.
“I’m joking, I’m kidding!” he grabbed Sol’s hands to make her stop.
“Wow, noona / It looks good on you!” Bok Gi and Yebeom said at the same time.
She heard more praises and comments from her other friends, she should be happy with their praises, yet she’s not because Joonhwi hasn’t said anything yet.
“Hyung, noona looks nice, right?” Bok Gi asked Joonhwi. For the second time, their eyes met and Joonhwi said…
“You look pretty, Sol A.” she doesn’t know if she should be happy because he called her pretty or not because Joonhwi called her “Sol A”.
