It's a beautiful sight. It really is. The stars glittering out in the black expanse, a clear view of Mobius in all her glory at the center of the elevator shaft, the lingering multicolored lights from the Interstellar Amusement Park, it's… Picturesque.
Unfortunately, Sonic doesn't exactly have time to take a picture. Nor does he really have time to notice the view whatsoever.
Metal shrieks and groans as it's torn apart. The ground shakes beneath his feet as he practically flies down the platform, doing all he can to fight back against the overwhelming force yanking him towards the epicenter of the destruction, which is really only about a football field’s length away. Maybe less.
He yelps as the paneling in the floor (wall, really) buckles and shreds like tissue paper just below his feet, and he's a slave to momentum as he leaps forward and sails over the new gap. A short adjustment for the landing, and… The hedgehog hits the ground running and allows himself a short laugh, that was a close one!
… Well, if he makes it out of this, he can cross “outrun a black hole” off of the bucket list.
The thought tugs a small smirk across his muzzle as he ducks down and pushes himself further until he breaches a limit and the world around him pulses. The sonic boom rips through the air as he shoots off even quicker than before, but still, still it's too close for comfort.
By now, the only sound he can hear-- That can keep up with him-- his own heart pounding in his ears, and he doesn't dare look back.
Come on, come on…
He's so close. Just a little further and he’ll be… Well, maybe not home free, but he’ll take “not getting sucked up by a black hole” as a compromise. He can feel the pull against the wind growing stronger, stronger, and realizes that, even with all his efforts, it's gaining on him.
And, for once, he can't go any faster.
He doesn't have the focus to mutter a curse, but he doesn't stop running even so.
… Oh well, it’ll turn out fine, somehow. He thinks he saw a few of the wisps trying to catch up with him.
Ah… Regardless of what happens up here, at least Tails is safe. He’ll see him in a second, as soon as he gets out of troub--
Black.
