"He's killing me— WHY DO HE NEEDS TO HIT THOSE DRUMS SO AGGRESSIVELY?!" Beomgyu complained after he sat on the chair opposite Taehyun who scans the patient's information on his hands, not bothering to look at his best friend who sobbed his heart out at how attractive Hueningkai is with his new blonde hair.
"Seriously Taehyun I— I need to sue Hueningkai it's illegal to be like that it's not good for my heart!"
Taehyun sighed, now lifting his head to look at his best friend.
"Full name and age?" He asked out of the blue that caught the long-haired boy off-guard.
He paused for a moment to process what Taehyun asked before he spoke, "Choi Beomgyu, 21. Why are you asking me like you didn't know—" that's when Beomgyu saw the younger starting to create a patient record with his name, widening his eyes as he stopped him from continuing.
"Are you damn serious?! I'm not here for a check-up!"
"But you need a check-up. You had been ranting to me that you would gladly jump in thousands of bullets just for Hueningkai, dude, he doesn't even know you." Taehyun replied, sipping at his water calmly before rolling his eyes.
"Yet. He doesn't know me yet. Watch him fell head over heels in love with me the moment his eyes land upon me Doctor Kang." Beomgyu retorted back with much sassiness blended on it. Taehyun can only chuckle, knowing that it will take forever to argue with Beomgyu, his best friend, the biggest fan of Sanctuary— a trio band. He even made a cup sleeves event each year for the said band anniversaries or even birthdays, sometimes when he felt he liked to do it he'll rent an ad on times square with their faces on it and his name below it that states he's the one who rented that ad.
Taehyun couldn't care less, as long as he's happy. He's just worried sometimes because of Beomgyu's high expenses, it's not his fault that he grew up not being rich unlike him that he felt like his head was spinning at how many million won his friend would let out just for a boyband who don't even know he exists. He's a licensed psychiatrist now but being careful with money seems to be part of his life that's why he can't relate with Beomgyu.
It's currently lunch break the moment Beomgyu barged into his clinic to tell random things that ended up ranting at what he felt towards the band he loves the most. He's in Sanctuary shit for life and Taehyun can do nothing about that.
"Just hurry up and tell me what's your purpose here, you wouldn't come barging inside my clinic just to tell me that, aren't you?" Taehyun asked as he piled his patients' records, looking at the long-haired guy who's tying his hair behind now calmly.
"Oh! About that, join me tomorrow, they'll be having their first-ever concert here in Seoul!" He enthusiastically said, and it's obvious he's so ready to convince Taehyun if ever he says no—
"You know how busy I am, so no. Just call some of your friends who's a fan too—"
"You know that I don't want to be in a concert with them! They're just a bunch of hypocrites who always leave other members behind, so please go with me." Beomgyu pleaded, holding his hands as he give his award-winning pout and puppy eyes. Taehyun doesn't really want to go, what will he do there? Stand like a liberty statue while others screaming their lungs out and jumping like crazy?
Taehyun let out a sigh, looking at Beomgyu. "Why can't you just go alone...?"
"Why can't you just go with me? It will harm none of your schedules since it'll be tomorrow— which is Saturday, and you have this clinic closed." Beomgyu fired back making Taehyun sigh in defeat as he stood up, collecting his things while Beomgyu anticipates his answer.
"Alright, just guide me inside since I don't know how things work in there—"
He haven't finished his sentence when Beomgyu slid a concert ticket to his desk, grinning proudly.
"That's great! I'll be waiting for you outside the stadium then, see ya~" then he left quickly after.
Taehyun stares at the ticket, heaving out a sigh.
Maybe taking a break and trying something he hasn't experienced wouldn't be too bad for him.
~
Tapping his shoes on the ground, he's looking anywhere but Beomgyu wasn't in plain sight. He's usually early at things like this, but they only have one hour left until the concert. He's just outside, standing and expecting for him to come.
Until he decided to check his phone once again, maybe he's already inside and forgot about him since he arrived just last hour? Deciding to enter the stadium, he tried to contact him where he was but it seems like his phone was off.
Damn. He forgot how Beomgyu would likely do that since he'll be recording everything, so to not get any disturbance, he'll turn his phone on airplane mode. Letting out an exasperated sigh, he walked left and enter the staircase, letting his feet drag him somewhere. He can see so many people slowly filling the seats, going to the boxes they choose. He scanned the V.I.P section and there's not a single long-haired gay he can see.
It's ridiculous for Beomgyu to miss such event, pondering on his thoughts, an idea came to his mind— which is a very bad idea, that Beomgyu must have kidnapped Hueningkai for real. He knows his best friend is just joking every time he says that he'll do it before they start a concert, but he's not one hundred percent sure what's running on that idiot's mind.
Walking faster now up to how many floors to fully see the whole venue and spot Beomgyu, he still failed to see him.
He's seriously starting to get annoyed and worried at the same time as he entered a room without reading what's written on the door.
There are no other people inside, it's a large room but there's only couches and tables, electric guitar supporting itself on the wall with a piano and drums beside it, a mic with a stand is the leader in the middle of them.
He dialed Beomgyu's number once again, and a few more rings, he still doesn't pick up.
"I swear to god if I ever found out his body floating at Han River next morning—"
Taehyun jumped from his spot with a scream, after hearing a sudden strum of guitar amid silence inside that room.
He held his chest dramatically, looking at the raven-haired guy in polo with a tie hanging loosely around his neck who's now playing the guitar carelessly, never spared a moment about his existence with him.
"You scared me!" Taehyun mused, meanwhile the latter looked at him without an ounce of emotion.
"I'm the one who should be scared of you. How did you get in here? Who let you in? Did you bribe the guards?" The questions fired back at him once with his deep voice that surprised Taehyun since his features look soft, but that's understandable since his voice sounds like just a warm cup of cappuccino, not too strong but not too sweet either.
"I'm sorry? But I'm not interested in bribing the guards whether you have them or not." Taehyun replied, typing down on his phone to call Beomgyu again until the guy spoke once again.
"Are you an artist's stalker? Get out."
Taehyun looked at him in a judging manner from head to toe, face full with disgrace.
"I'm not even a fan and I know none of them except Hueningkai guy who's my friend keeps on pinning at." The raven knitted his brows and no Taehyun didn't think he's adorable for that since he just called him a stalker so no way. He's definitely not cute.
"Then what are you doing here?"
"I got lost. My friend tagged me along with him so he wouldn't deal with other solo stan fansites he despised— but guess what he left me hanging here and don't even answer his damn phone." He explained so this guy would have a hint that he needs help.
The raven scoffs, "How can you even support your statement?"
Looking up from his phone towards the stranger, he rolled his eyes. Taehyun knows he's being ‘a bit’ rude for being so petty, but who wouldn't get mad when someone suddenly accused you of being a stalker to whom you didn't even know!
"No need to if you're not going to believe me in the first place. If you're the manager, should you suppose guide me and lead the way?"
"Where exactly—"
"To—"
"—to my heart?" The stranger finished his answer, more like he interrupted just to say something so ridiculous Taehyun having goosebumps because what the hell he's not the type to flirt with anyone mostly in the midst of a very serious situation like this. His mouth went agape, the audacity to drop a punchline after literally accusing him as a stalker? The nerve.
"I hope those words give you chills, geez. What a great line for horror movies." Taehyun grimaced and it's very evident on his face. Meanwhile, instead of getting offended, the stranger laughed so hard that he even throw his head back, gasping for air.
Wiping some tears of joy from the corner of his eyes, "Damn, you're so funny. Others would have been squealing or dying if they ever heard those words from me, you know."
"Then they must consult to me so I am a psychiatrist." Taehyun then leaned on the couch. What is he even doing here wasting his time exchanging nonsense conversations with this guy— okay. He admits it. This stranger is achingly handsome that he felt his ears burning the moment he dropped his stone-cold face and laughed so loudly that he almost can be heard in the hallway. His eyes turned into a crescent smile like a moon, his nose scrunched up like a bunny with his heart-shaped lips. But he decided to ignore it, shaking his head.
"But in all seriousness, can you just show me the way? I think I'm kinda lost, I'm afraid my friend will kidnap one of the members of that trio band."
The stranger perks up at his request.
"What do you mean kidnap? That's impossible for how strict the security— oh, I forgot. You just entered here without seeing any guards. So maybe it's really possible, what's your friend's name then?" He asked, putting aside the guitar, focusing his attention on him fully.
"Choi Beomgyu, 21. He's tall in the midst of the crowd and gay, long hair. The concert will start later on and I still couldn't reach him." Taehyun answered in full detail and taps on his phone, but unlucky him, Beomgyu's still out of coverage area.
"How about you, what's your name?"
"Kang Taehyun."
"Doesn't suit you."
"I didn't ask." He fired back. This man is so rude that he just wants to slam him on the wall.
"You wonder why?"
"No thanks." Please just don't give him another punchline or Taehyun will punch him on his annoyingly handsome face because he's not used to flirting more on strangers how many times does he needs to repeat himself to the heavens above—
"Because it will beautifully fit if you put my surname next to your name." He grins, enjoying the momentary atrocious face that Taehyun gave, before he frowned, throwing a pillow from the couch harshly towards him in the direction that he quickly dodge.
"You seriously need help, you're sick for this."
The door opened, revealing a girl with short hair and glasses, and I.D hanging on her neck which means she's part of the staff. She looked at the two of them back and forth, raising a suspicious brow towards the stranger.
"Soobin? Do you know him?" The stranger whose name by now is Soobin, straighten his back and gave her a small smile.
"Yes, noona. He's Taehyun, can you lead him to the concert hall and find his friend? He's lost." Soobin politely asked as the girl nodded, motioning Taehyun to follow her without thinking twice and said,
"Sure. Get ready, we finished double-checking the backstage too. The concert will start within half an hour."
Taehyun being more lost in their conversation is an understatement. Nevertheless, he ignored it and was about to follow the girl when Soobin spoke.
"You're not a fan, right? So if you enjoyed this concert, that means we need to see each other again." His smile once again, made his eyes look like a crescent moon. But with a hint of excitement and giddiness, and this time, Taehyun decided to return that smile.
"Sure. Guess this will be the last time."
"You spoke too soon."
"A habit, but I'm never wrong." He gave a smug smile.
"We will see about that later on, then." The other replied with a mischievous one, before watching their back turn around and leave.
Well, let's see that.
—
"I'm here!"
"Good gracious Kang Taehyun! Where have you been?!" Beomgyu almost yelled while they sat at the front row, glaring at each other.
"You don't have any right to get mad at me when I'm the one who can't reach your phone! I waited outside a while ago and I can't see you! Then a staff helped me get here you fool," Taehyun reprimands him as if he's rapping and he continues on and on even telling him about his thoughts that he might have kidnapped someone for real or he got ambushed for being boastful that made someone angry and he'll just found out on news about his cold body floating on han river.
Beomgyu can only sigh after all of that, patting his back.
"That's alright. At least I'll get featured on television."
And people, ladies, and gays, our noble soldier Choi Beomgyu received a slap at the back of his head.
After their back and forth bickering, everyone started to scream and one of them was Beomgyu the moment countdown started after a little VCR intro. Taehyun attempted to look around, eyes furrowing after he heard a knowledgeable voice blasted on the speaker, everyone around him squealing in delight.
Snapping his head fastback in front of him, he saw a very very oddly familiar face on the VCR.
He haven't even recovered yet at being shocked when fog shattered on the stage that was practically in front of him, Sanctuary band showing up at once on a platform with their instruments.
What surprised Taehyun is that the guy— Soobin, who he met inside that room, is now holding a keyboard when the instrument he holds a while ago is an electric guitar.
"What the fuck?"
He can't help but mumble a curse, thankfully no one heard him or he'll be dead meat because of their fans, and one of them is Beomgyu who's now screaming his lungs out, sparkling eyes darted on the stage, too mesmerized.
Taehyun was in a different world compared to others because the realization dawned on him, his face undeniably became red. So that's why Soobin asked him if he's a stalker because he's an idol and heck he's inside the artist lounge. So that explains the strange look that staff gave him because he's unknown and he's talking— more like bickering with Soobin so casually?! When that guy who he calls a weird flirt stranger is a huge member of a band?!
Can the ground swallow him whole, please. He's so embarrassed at the moment.
"That's Yeonjun, he's the oldest on the band!" Beomgyu almost yelled on his ears as he hummed in acknowledgment when Yeonjun starts to hum on the mic, accompanied by the soft piano from Soobin, and to the only member who Taehyun knows, Hueningkai followed by hitting the drums.
"HELL YEAH 20CM SLOW-ROCK VER I LOVE IT HERE!!!" Beomgyu was so hyped up that Taehyun was afraid of how wild did he become. His friend loves surprises like this, but he's happy that he's enjoying himself, living his life to the fullest like this.
"That's Hueningkai, my beloved!" Beomgyu was practically having heart eyes right now, and one thing Taehyun can think of, he's so hopeless romantic.
Hueningkai started the first verse, and Taehyun wouldn't lie, he loves the song already. He hasn't heard this for a while since Beomgyu and he rarely hangs out these days because of his busy clinic schedules with his patients, and he's the only one who loves to play Sanctuary playlists on the daily basis, even using Taehyun's device whenever there's voting going on.
Soobin then followed that erupted so many screams like the first two members, as Taehyun frozen.
Because Soobin instantly found him in the crowd, giving a wide smile after meeting his eyes that made him gulp but made others make dying whale noises. God, what kind of spell did they put on these people to be this crazy for them? This is sick.
Oh damn.
Stop. Taehyun don't you dare bop your head on the music. Stay still. Yes. That's right. Be stoic. You're a statue. Stone. A robot. Don't try to dance or sway.
If you may ask why is he like this, Kang Taehyun, oh our Doctor Kang never wanted to give up his pride and ego sorry not sorry. He'll never sway and sing along to the song. Never.
Soobin's voice was so smooth— featherlight-like. Okay since no one can hear his thoughts he'll admit it— he's good, they're all so good, the song was good. But he'll pretend it wasn't.
Beomgyu suddenly looked over Soobin and to whoever he just looked at a while ago, as his eyes landed beside his friend, he looked back on the stage to make sure but Soobin was already closing his eyes to feel that song, back to the sea of crowd, eyes wandering. That's why he ignored it and decided to lean on Taehyun's ear so the younger can hear him.
"He's Soobin, he's the bandleader."
That makes Taehyun turn to his friend with wide eyes, as Beomgyu mistook it as a genuine interest as he nodded his head enthusiastically, wanting Taehyun to join their fandom.
But hell no. That's not on Taehyun's mind, he's thinking about how embarrassing he is, and how rude he is, too. He's the band's leader for forgotten's sake, and it might hurt the leader's heart the moment he answered he don't know anyone on the band aside from Hueningkai, god, is he a bad person now? But he didn't mean it that way! He's just—
Beomgyu glanced at him and stopped immediately from jumping, his eyes are filled with concern, seeing Taehyun spaced out while fiddling at the lace of the lightstick.
"Hey, is there something wrong?! Do you want to go home?!" Beomgyu needed to yell so he can hear him clear, felt bad at the thought of Taehyun feeling so sick at the loud noises around him. He shouldn't have brought him here if he's that too fond of close spaces like this with a noisy background.
Taehyun turned to him and shook his head vigorously. "No, no! I thought of something suddenly but it's not because of this concert don't worry!" He replied instead. He doesn't want Beomgyu to miss this happiest day of his life just because of his minor difficult experiences a while ago.
Maybe, he needs to act deaf at his screaming ego and pride and enjoy this concert because it's not really that awful. So, lifting the lightstick, he bops on their music too, letting his guards down, ignoring the fact that Soobin grinned in front of him and mouthed a "Got you!" To him.
Beomgyu and other people that are beside him noticed it too and looked at him, while he tries his best to hardly look away and avoid their questioning gazes, one of them is Beomgyu.
Shaking his head at how Soobin played the guitar later on enthusiastically in front of him, another proud crescent smile was plastered on his face as he contains himself from smiling at how it's so easy to please him.
After two consecutive songs, it's their time to have a little chat with the crowd, starting with their introduction with Soobin, as the leader started.
"It's our first time here in Seoul, and we're so excited to show you the surprises we made especially for all of you!" Hueningkai gave a blinding smile, Beomgyu that was besides Taehyun acted like he's fainting.
"Stop me I'm going to go on the stage and ask if we could get married today." Taehyun only shook his head while giggling, pushing him off from his shoulders playfully.
"You're so dramatic."
"I hope everyone will enjoy our performances!" Yeonjun said, giving the mic to Soobin who furrowed his brows like he's thinking of something.
"It's impossible not to enjoy our performances though, right?" Soobin asked the crowd who answered with a chorus of 'yes'!
"There are even others who entered this concert, not as a fan, but to accompany their friend, and now will leave as a fan too," he joked, just for everyone's eyes, but Taehyun can feel him lingering his stare longer towards him which he only gave an eye-roll. He's really that proud.
That's cute.
"I'm just kidding, of course! But I do hope you'll enjoy this concert, thank you so much for loving our songs and live performances! Now, we will move on to our next song~"
Taehyun finished and left the very first concert he attended, with a quick nod to himself.
Okay, he'll admit it now. Maybe he's now a fan too— and probably a Soobin biased.
Hours of singing along, jamming with the band, crying at the closing messages; the concert ended.
One last look before they leave completely and enter Beomgyu's car, he mumbled to himself, "Well, see you next time, then, leader-ssi."
