Work Text:
“Straps, look!”
Munkustrap smiled at his younger brother. The Rum Tum Tugger was having one of his kitten-like days. He had been chasing a feather around his older brother’s den and had finally caught it.
“Good job, kitten!”
Tugger bounded over to his brother and nuzzled into his chest before smiling up at his big brother.
“Can we go to Jenny’s today?”
Tugger pleaded. Munk pretended to consider it for a moment before saying,
“I don’t know, kitten, we have a pretty tight schedule today.”
“But Straps!”
Tugger whined. He lightly laughed at the pout on his brother's face.
“Of course we can, kitten.”
Tugger cheered and ran out of the den.
“Hold on, Tugger!”
Munkustrap shouted, while chasing after his brother. He quickly arrived at Jenny’s den, where his brother was currently bouncing around outside.
“Jenny, Jenny, Jenny! We’re here!”
Tugger sang happily. Jenny called from inside,
"Come on in! Mungojerrie is here as well."
Munkustrap could sense that another cat being there was making Tugger a bit apprehensive. He gently nudged his brother forward.
"Come on, Tugs. It's gonna be alright."
Tugger took a slow step forward into Jenny's den before an orange blur collided into him.
"Hi Tugger! It's me, Jerrie! Did you come to visit Jenny too? I usually stay with Teazer when I feel like a kitten, but she's with Victoria!"
"You have kitten days too?"
Tugger asked. Mungojerrie nodded before pausing.
"Wait, what do you mean 'too'? Do you know someone else who does the same?"
At Tugger's nod Jerrie continued his torrent of questions.
"Who is it? Can I know? Can I play with them?"
"All right Mungojerrie, I think that's enough questions for little Tugger here. If you ask anymore he might forget the rest!"
Jenny said as she walked towards them. Mungojerrie quickly hurried next to her and leaned into her side.
"Would you like to answer Jerrie's questions, Tugger?"
Munkustrap asked. Tugger walked closer to his brother before squishing his face into Munkustrap's chest fluff. He shook his head.
"Would you like me to answer his questions?"
Tugger nodded his head.
"Well," Munkustrap started, "Tugger does know someone who has kitten days, it's actually him. As for your last question, Tugger will have to answer that one."
A muffled "Yes" came from Munkustrap's chest. Mungojerrie began bouncing in place slightly, trying to contain his excitement. Munkustrap slowly inched his brother out of his chest fluff. At his brother’s whine he chuckled and said,
“Come on, kitten. You can’t play with Jerrie while hiding in my chest.”
Tugger slowly pulled his head out and looked at Munkustrap. He then turned to look at Mungojerrie who was still bouncing in place.
“Come on, Tugger! Let's go play! Jenny has a ball of yarn she's letting me play with! We can share!”
Tugger looked back at his older brother once more before walking over to Mungojerrie and smiling at him shyly. Mungojerrie beamed at him before running off further into Jenny’s den.
“Follow me!”
Tugger ran after Mungojerrie. Jenny laughed.
“We should probably go after them, make sure they don’t cause too much chaos.”
Munkustrap followed Jenny into her den and happily watched his brother and Mungojerrie play.
