Day 9 ~  Gang/Yakuza ▪︎ Possessive ▪︎ Arranged Marriage

“Someone’s dead by the end of the night.” Oikawa looked at the earring dangling from his fingers.

Hanamaki and Matsukawa stood on the other side of his desk, neither one of them daring to utter a word.

"Where did you find this, Hanamaki?"

The pink-haired man gulped. Oikawa never called him by his full name. "In the mailbox. The letter was unsigned and the message was typed out so there’s no handwriting to decipher. Kunimi already tried fingerprinting it but he came back with nothing."

"If you don't mind me asking, sir…" Matsukawa started, waiting for Oikawa to look at him to continue. "Are we positive that that's Iwaizumi’s earring?"

"I had these earrings personally made so neither of us would risk getting caught with a ring." He gestured to the dangling white rose earring in his own ear. "And I had enough money paid to have this design taken off the market." He pounded his fist against his desk. "I thought it would be enough to keep our marriage a secret."

"Well the letter clearly calls him your husband," Hanamaki sighed. "So they found out somehow."

"So not only did someone find out about our marriage," Oikawa stated, pocketing the earring. "But they had the nerve to kidnap my husband from under my nose? And they didn't think they would die by my hand?" He laughed. "Matsukawa, dear…go fetch the dog and tell him to come here."

The ravenette nodded before he practically ran out of the room.

Oikawa fiddled with his own earring. "And you, Hanamaki, round up the others and tell them to meet in the common room."

"Yes sir!"

It wasn't until his office was empty that he pulled out his phone.  It only rang once before the person picked up.

"Oikawa! Why are you calling so early? Don't get me wrong, I'm always happy to hear from you. I'm just surprised."

For the first time that day, the brunette smiled. "I'm glad you picked up, Kō-chan." He started picking at his fingers. "But I'm afraid I have a problem."

"What's up?"

"Someone decided that they wanted my precious Iwa-chan. I don't know if it was last night or this morning, but he wasn't at home and he's not here." Suga went silent for a few seconds. "Now, I'm not pointing fingers…but Tobio-chan did-"

"It wasn't him. I know he left you guys but he’s been nothing but obedient here. And he’s had nothing bad to say about any of you. Do you think it could’ve been Ushijima?”

Oikawa shook his head, even though Suga couldn’t see it. “We have a neutrality pact thanks to you guys. Plus, I know that Ushiwaka doesn’t know we’re married.”

“Whoever took him knows you’re married?!”

“Makki found a letter this morning. It had no return address and it was unsigned. Hajime’s earring was in there.”

Suga sighed. “I’ll see if Daichi wants us to ask around.”

“If you can’t, it’s fine. This is my problem anyway. Sorry to drag you into it.”

“Are you kidding? You know I don’t mind!”

Someone knocked on Oikawa’s door. “Gotta go. Let me know if you figure something out.” He hung up the phone. “Come in.”

In walked Kyōtani, followed by Matsukawa. “You called for me, Boss?”

“Mad Dog! Have a seat.” He waited for the blonde to sit before he continued. “I need you to go on a little mission for me. Nothing crazy. I just need you to sniff around and see if you can find anything.” He typed something on his phone.

“Is there something you need me to look for?”

“Hajime.”

Kyōtani’s usual stony expression shifted to a slight look of surprise. “He’s missing?”

“Afraid so. Problem is, I don’t know where he is. So your job is to sniff around and see if you can find some clues as to where he might be. And take your owner with you. I sent him Iwa-chan’s last known whereabouts.”

Kyōtani rolled his eyes, standing. “He’s not my owner…”

“What was that?”

“I said yes sir.”

“That’s what I thought. Now, off you go. I don’t have all day.”

“Alright, so this is where we stand in terms of Hajime's whereabouts,” Oikawa sighed, looking around at the rest of his gang. “It wasn’t Karasuno, though I never thought it was them to begin with. I also have reason to believe that it wasn’t Shiratorizawa-”

“You’re putting faith in Ushiwaka?” Makki asked.

“We have an unofficial alliance with them through Karasuno. Also, he doesn’t know that Hajime and I are married and I doubt anyone else figured it out.”

“And unless they’ve tried something new, they’re very particular about the letters that they send,” Kunimi said. “For one, they’re signed. They also have two seals. A swan if they mean no harm and an eagle if you’ve gotten in their way.”

“Well this letter was unsigned and there was no seal,” Makki sighed. “I guess we’re putting our faith in Shiratorizawa for now.”

“Thanks to Daichi, we also have confirmation that it’s not Nekoma, Fukurōdani, or Dateko.”

“So then is it someone we even know?” Mattsun asked with a frown.

“It could be a mutual enemy,” Kindaichi suggested. “You know, like ‘the friend of my enemy is my enemy’ kind of thing?”

“But they also know that Oikawa and Iwaizumi are married and not that many people outside our close circle know that. And if they managed to figure it out, that takes some Nekoma level intel.”

“Nekoma level intel…” Oikawa pouted, placing his chin on the back of his hand in thought. “Mattsun, remind me to call Tetsu-chan after this. I need to-”

He was abruptly cut off when the door to the common room slammed open. The brunette almost yelled before he met the eyes of a bloody Yahaba. He nearly leaped from his desk as Matsukawa caught the falling adult.

“Yahaba! What happened to you?! And why are you back? It's only been a couple hours.”

“Kentarō…they…they got him.”

“Who’s they?!”

“I don’t know. I…Don’t give me that look. The blood isn’t mine. I managed to stab one of the guys but they got away.”

“Kindaichi, go start a bath from Yahaba. And see if we have something to clean up any wounds he may have.”

“Yes sir!

“I don’t need a whole bath. Just some wipes and whatever you want to use to clean this wound. I’m not injured, Oikawa.”

“Then what happened?”

Yahaba took a few deep breaths as Kindaichi ran out of the room. He brushed his bangs from his eyes. "We were staking out just like you asked us to…"

"Remind me again where we're going."

"There's no 'we're'. I'm just here to make sure you don't do anything stupid. And according to Oikawa, this was Iwaizumi’s last known location."

"Well he wasn't at the last two locations and he's not back at the office otherwise Oikawa would've called us back by now." Kyōtani groaned, sinking further into his seat. "And why am I stuck with you?"

"Jeez…what crawled up your ass this morning?" Yahaba sighed when he got nothing more than a growl. "And you know good and damned well that I'm the only person who can keep you in check besides Iwaizumi."

"But I already live with you. Why do you have to come on missions with me?"

"Weren't you the one who asked me to move in with you? Because I remember that conversation quite clearly." The brunette parked on the side of the street near a bar that wasn't open yet.

Kyōtani blushed, moving to get out of the car. "Shut up…" Yahaba stopped him before he could. The blonde turned to him. "What?"

"Be careful, yeah? These guys managed to get the slip on Iwaizumi. Just…" Yahaba sighed, dropping his head.

Kyōtani responded by squeezing his hand. "When did you become such a mother hen? And same goes for you. You'll be out there with me and you don't need to be getting hurt either."

Yahaba smiled, getting out of the car. "Yeah. Now let's get going."

The two of them spent the majority of the time window shopping—much to Kyōtani’s chagrin—as he scooped out the area. He wouldn't admit that his brunette boyfriend provided the best cover for him as he peeked into back alleys and sized up anyone who passed them.

However, he came up with nothing.

After about an hour of searching, he couldn’t find any more leads that led to Iwaizumi. So, feeling slightly defeated, the two of them walked back to the car. Yahaba lagged behind a few steps, taking one last scope of the area.

"Well, I guess we can chalk this whole thing up as a-" Kyōtani was interrupted by a startled yelp behind him. He turned, freezing when he realized that Yahaba wasn't behind him anymore.

He looked around until he heard a grunt from the alleyway. He took off running, listening to the conversation.

"Damn! How is he so fast?!"

"He broke the needle?!"

That was when Kyōtani entered the scene. He saw two men manhandling Yahaba. And the brunette was not having it. One of the men had a hand over his mouth and the other arm wrapped around the brunette’s torso. The other had the unfortunate task of grabbing his legs without trying to get kicked in the face.

Honestly, if the situation was different, Kyōtani would’ve been proud. So instead, he moved to punch the one holding Yahaba’s legs. That gave Yahaba enough time to kick him in the face, sending him doubling over.

The man holding Yahaba chuckled, tightening his grip on the young adult. Yahaba winced as the hand over his mouth moved to grip his cheeks. “And who would you be? Another Aoba Johsai pup?

Kyōtani growled. “Let him go.”

“If only you guys would stop snooping. Then we wouldn’t have to keep taking you guys away.”

“What did you do with Iwaizumi?” Yahaba asked, struggling to free his arms. It didn’t help that the man was taller than him.

“Your leader's husband? Our leader’s dealing with him as we speak. Got quite a bit of bite to him for a pup.”

“Where is he?”

“Now that’s not just information we give away.”

“Kentarō, move!”

Kyōtani felt something prick his arm as he felt another arm wrap around his torso. He looked down to see that it was a syringe with two needles attached to it.

The man who had grabbed him—the one that the two of them had decked—discarded the needle. “That’s one down. Do we have another one?” Yahaba couldn’t see what the man holding him did, but it caused the one who had spoken to sigh. “I guess we’re doing this the hard way.”

Yahaba could only watch as the man let go of Kyōtani before he punched him in the face, sending the blonde to the ground.

He saw red.

He finally managed to grab the knife that was strapped to his belt under his coat, using it to stab the man in the side. He didn’t have time to rip it out before the man pushed him away, looking at the blood pooling around his side. He’d gotten blood on his jacket, but Yahaba didn’t care.

“You bastard!”

Yahaba was about to go in for another punch before he heard a click behind him. He turned, growling as the other man was holding a gun to Kyōtani’s head.

“Now, now…we wouldn’t want things to get ugly for your companion, now would we?”

Yahaba heard the other man trying to attack him from behind. He promptly flipped him over his shoulder, pressing a knee into his back as he removed the knife. Blood stained his pants as he held the knife against the back of the man’s throat, using his other hand to place the man in an arm lock. He looked at the man holding Kyōtani. “I could say the same about yours.”

The man frowned. “You kill my man, I kill yours. It’s as simple as that.”

“Let Kentarō go and then maybe I’ll think about it.”

“You think I won’t kill him?” The gun clicked again as the man spun the chamber. Kyōtani tried not to flinch under the sound, but it was deafeningly loud in his ear.

Through hazed vision, he looked at Yahaba. “Shigeru, run…”

The brunette looked at him like he’d grown a second head. He knew how hard it would be to get both of them out alive just by how soft Kyōtani's voice had gotten. “You’re drugged. You aren’t thinking straight. No way in hell am I leaving you behind!”

“Just go, you idiot!”

The man under Yahaba used this time to flip Yahaba off of him. The brunette landed on the ground, the air leaving his lungs. He gasped for breath as the man stood, looming over him. “We’ll spare you for now. But take a message to your master.” He kicked Yahaba in the side. “He’d best learn not to mess with us.”

That was the last thing Yahaba heard before his vision went black.

“I don’t know when I woke up but when I did, the two men and Kentarō were gone. So I came here,” Yahaba concluded as he let himself be wiped off by Kindaichi and Watari.

Oikawa frowned now that he was able to get a good look at the other brunette. No doubt his side and hip were bruised from being flipped over, but there were also fingerprint bruises lining his jaw. He’d removed his bloody coat and shirt, and only then did Oikawa notice something weird on his shoulder.

“What is that?”

Yahaba looked down at his shoulder. “It’s where they tried to insert the drug. I managed to break the needles. Haven’t pulled them out yet.”

Watari moved in with a pair of tweezers, carefully taking out the shards before grabbing a bandage.

“Hold on, Watari.” Matsukawa crouched down beside Oikawa, looking at Yahaba’s shoulder.

“Hey, Makki. Hand me my phone.” Oikawa blindly reached out behind him as Hanamaki placed the phone in his hand. He dialed the number, letting it ring.

“Hello?”

“Hey, Tetsu-chan. It’s Oikawa. You busy?”

“Not really. What’s up?”

“We’re still trying to figure out who took my Iwa-chan and Mattsun made a comment about whoever it was having ‘Nekoma level intel’. Would you happen to know anything about that? Like a rival of yours or something?”

“I can think of one gang that comes to mind, but I need more information than that.”

Oikawa looked back at Yahaba’s shoulder. “What if I told you that they tried to drug one of my men and the wound looks like a snake bite?”

“...I’ll be right over.”

“Yep, that’s a snake bite alright.”

“It’s not an actual snake bite.”

“I know that,” Kuroo said, standing from his place next to Yahaba. He looked at Watari, motioning for him to bandage the wound. “It’s a miracle they weren’t able to inject you.”

“I have quick reflexes,” Yahaba answered with a shrug. He had taken a bath and was in clean clothes, so his spirits seemed to have raised slightly.

“Clearly.” Kuroo looked back at Oikawa, crossing his arms. “You were right about the rivalry thing.”

“So you know who took Hajime?”

“Nohebi.”

“Who?”

“A long time rival of Nekoma. I honestly don’t know how you guys got dragged into this mess. What Daishō wants with Iwaizumi, I also don’t know. He probably just wants to scope out rivals, the bastard.”

“So he decided to go after my Iwa-chan ?”

Yahaba stepped in before Oikawa could say anything else. “You seem to know this Daishō pretty well.”

“Like I said, we’re long time rivals.” He pulled down the collar of his black turtleneck. “Bastard also gave me my own personal snake bite a few years ago.”

“And it still hasn’t gone away?” Yahaba asked, thinking back to Kyōtani’s arm.

“It depends on the concentration of the drug they use. They have three different kinds, each with increasing severity. Daishō is the only one that I know of who carries the highest concentration. That stuff’ll scar if he gets you good.” He smirked. “To this day, I’m still honored he thought he worthy of the highest grade of his snake poison.” He turned back to Yahaba. “Yours should go away pretty quick since you were just stabbed with the needle.”

“If he scarred my Hajime, I swear that I’ll-”

“Now hold it, Princess.” Kuroo strode up to the table Oikawa was sitting at. “I’m more than happy to help you get Iwaizumi back, but if you do, Daishō’s mine. You can rough him up but under no circumstance do you kill him. Capeesh?” Oikawa just stared at the ravenette. “Daishō is my rival. All you need to focus on is getting your men back. I’ll handle the rest.” He stuck out his hand.

Oikawa looked at it before shaking. “You’ve got yourself a deal, Tetsu-chan.”

“I’m surprised. The way you talk about your husband, I would think he’d be here by now.”

Iwaizumi stared at the man before him. “You still never told me how you know that.”

“We snakes never reveal how we get out information.” He grabbed Iwaizumi’s chin. Kyōtani growled from his place beside him, though it was muffled under the muzzle. Daishō laughed. “Even drugged I suppose a guard dog will be a guard dog.” That only got Kyōtani to growl again. Daishō moved to kick Kyōtani in the side with a bemused smirk. The man doubled over. “You should learn to control your dog before he gets hurt.”

Iwaizumi pulled at the cuffs around his wrist. Unlike Kyōtani, who was chained to the floor with his hands behind his back, he was left chained to the wall, his arms spread in a t-position. It had only been a few hours but his arms ached considerably.  “Leave him alone.”

“Why don’t I train him for you?” He crouched, grabbing Kyōtani by his hair. “Another round of drugs should get you to calm down if you Master can’t.”

Iwaizumi sighed. He hated feeding Daishō’s twisted form of pleasure. “Down, Mad Dog.” It didn’t go unnoticed by either of them how Daishō laughed under his breath, especially after Kyōtani complied with another growl.

“What a guard dog you have. He’s been trying to protect you this whole time.”

He didn’t know how long he or Kyōtani had been here. “What do you want with us?”

“Just looking to see what Seijoh is all about. You all have made quite a name for yourselves. And once I figured out that you were allied with Nekoma…well, I just had to meet you. I wasn’t originally going for you, but you were nice bait. Well, I thought you were. But he’s not even here to save you yet.”

“What’s this about not coming to save him?”

Daishō turned, completely unfazed. "Welcome, gentlemen. Glad you could join me."

Oikawa's and Iwaizumi's eyes met. He seemed to be fine other than a few bruises.

"Listen, you snake bastard, we're not here for games."

"Hello to you as well, you rooster-headed bastard. And I never said that I was here for games. Why are you here anyway? This has nothing to do with you? Eager for another round of snake bites?"

"You kidnapped the second-in-command of a mafia boss who I happen to be allied with."

"I didn't kidnap him with the intention to hurt-" He was interrupted when Oikawa punched him in the face with enough force that even Iwaizumi flinched. He then grabbed Daishō’s collar. "I don't care what your intentions were. You kidnapped my Hajime…and I'm not happy with you." He threw him to the ground so he was on his knees. "Now, I promised Tetsu-chan that I wouldn't kill you-"

"My men will come before you do-"

"Most of your men are dead, Daishō," Kuroo said with a smirk. "I let Yaku and Yahaba go wild with their groups." Kuroo relished in the sheer amount of joy he felt as he watched Daishō pale.

"With that being said…" Daishō turned back to Oikawa as the brunette smirked, raising up his foot. "Your signature is a snake bite. Mine is a little move called 'Bow to Your King'." He dropped his smirk. "If you try anything like this again, it'll be the last thing you see before you die." With that, he slammed his foot down on Daishō’s head, causing it to slam against the ground. He was knocked out on impact.

Oikawa then went through the man's pockets before pulling out a key ring. "He's all yours, Tetsu-chan."

It was at that moment that Yaku and Yahaba walked through the door. The two Nekoma boys grabbed Daishō while Yahaba sprinted to a still chained Kyōtani. Oikawa tossed him the key before grabbing Iwaizumi’s face in his hands.

"He bruised your face! That bastard!"

Iwaizumi laughed. "I'm fine, Tōru. Honest." He watched as Yahaba wordlessly undid his cuffs.

Oikawa quickly moved to rub up and down his arms. "Still, I won't forgive that slimy snake for what he did to you and Mad Dog."

"Kuroo will take care of him." He allowed Oikawa to help him stand. "I'm surprised though. I know Daishō was saying that he was surprised you hadn't come, but I was surprised you did."

The brunette simply stared at him. "What are you talking about? You thought I would just leave you?"

"That's not what I meant. I just assumed that you would have more important things to do than worry about me. I knew you'd rescue me eventually but-"

"Oh, Hajime. It's cute that you think you're not my top priority." He kissed the top of his head. "Do you really think I would marry you if you weren't?" He pulled out the earring and put it back in his husband's ear. "There. Now everyone knows you’re mine." He kissed his cheek. "I love you."

"I love you too. Now let's go see how much damage an angry Yahaba did."
