"AYE SUNNY" thonk "SUNNY" thonk "SUNNNNNNNNNNNYYYYY" ..... THONK "SUNN-"
Sunny, the victim of the rock-throwing, latched and slammed the window open so hard he jumped back. ".............ALS............hmb.fb............ghg....wha-"
"Hey you're up! s'been a while, huh?" Kel said.
Sunny got up and...only silence.
"hm.....Oh right! sorry i scared you, I was getting tiring knocking on your door. And....i forgot you don't hear knocks upstairs."-he scratches his head and chuckled-"Er- um, anyways... Remember me saying when we were kids, i'd bring you to hobbeez in the middle of the night?"
...Sunny shrugged, trying to pay no attention how cold it is, and yet another wave of silence;the wind blowing loudly in thier hair.
"...Okay I'm gonna assume you're nodding;do you.....wanna go there? It's been awhile since i've done something like this."
Sunny gave a frown but since it was pitch black, he couldn't see anything but his figure.
And he slowly felt off if that was even Kel or just his hearing and vision messing with him again.
Just go back to bed an-
"I also wanna give you something before you go! no pressure. It's from my friend. I don't think she told me what's in the box-"
Sunny loudly cut him off with a "mhm" to Kel so he could hear and the tall boy respond "okay nice! i'll wait."
After another tremendous battle against his fear and making sure Kel was real, Sunny opens the backyard door and the gate outside. Already, he is agitated. Being interrupted in the middle of a dream is one thing, but the wind blowing his vision and making him a walking freezer is another whole he could tolerate. It was that unbearable. SO uncomfortable. So cold that he held kels hand and alongside his cotton hoodie. Jeez why is so cold? how come the leaves didn't turn color alre-
"hm....!!!" Kel shivered, "woah jeez Sunny, you're freezing! Don't you have a coat or somethin'?"
"....mNo." Sunny hushly said.
" ..well c'mon, let's hurry." Kel tighten his grip and pulled the frozen boy until they're inside.
"Phhhew, we're here. Next time, tell me to buy you something comfy." he half-heartedly joked. "Okay, so! there's also something i want to give something from someone but before I do..."-He grabs the most fluffiest-looking jacket he could see-"You gotta wear something, you don't wanna freeze on me now, would ya?" Agreeing with kel, Sunny nods and the boy bought the coat. Maybe it's just a one time use but thanked Kel anyway, him responding in raidiate joy, and did whatever they could at Hobbeez
The cold doesn't feel as harsh and bothersome under the coat and the breeze didn't feel like tipping the boys over anymore, so that was nice. But the cotton doesn't really block winds and only dampens them. Warmer than nothing, i guess. He already missed holding his hand though, so warm....warmer than this jacket.
But the cold benefits Sunny. it keeps him from the intrusive thoughts in his head and focused on the present.
and yet
he hates how it makes him feel anything.
Wide awake from the incoming thoughts, he driven himself to get ahead of Kel, tripping on the big branches. "Don't tripped!" Kel shouts. it gets harder to watch your step when its dark, Sunny tries anyway and he was already standing by the time Kel told him and impatiently waits, making rufffling sounds with the tall grass.
"heh. Cool, looks like you got here." Kel got a glance at the stars and took a box between two weirdly-shaped trees. the ribbon material reflecting on the full moon and onto Sunnys eyes, he would shift his head to something else but taken as given so it may be a good item.
"Okay! here it is, the grand prize!" He yanked the ribbon out and slowly and slowly revealed.... "And it's a........"
"seashell necklace." Sunny filled in.
"Wait you can tell?"
"yeah the-" sunny paused, closing his mouth. "...the moonlight. It's..kinda bright."
Kel looked up. "Looking at it reminds me of...something." he stared at the moon "..And how Aubrey used to make fun of me thinking it was cheese. I remember having so much fits about it and she couldn't let that down till you and Mari stepped in..at least she apologized then."-he nervously looks at Sunnys' eyes-" Oh sorry, Sunny. that kinda just...came out." His head went to him and slowly to the trees below. "Should we head back? you must be worn out."
Sunny nods and walking back to his house, holds kels' hand. The wind was no more and got replaced with a gentler breeze; Truely, Sunny feels less cold. And for a while, he didn't feel like he felt caught between hell and heaven. He...was something.
And it felt okay.
It felt okay.
