You Belong

Summary:

"You're not lost Watson. Even if you think you don't belong anywhere." Gura held Amelia's hands, placing them in her chest, a place that indicated where her heart was "You are always here, in my heart."

Work Text:

"You are nothIng more than a useless human. You will NEVER belong with them. You will never belong anywhere when you're only a puny little human. Turn back. And never return, Watson."

Amelia shot up from her chair, panting, tearing up.

It was just a nightmare, it wasn't real.

She looked up on the clock, 1:07 AM it read. She took a deep breath and wiped away her tears. It had been the 4th time she has dreamed of such thing. She took a break. A short 2 week break from streaming to focus on a case she had been handling for nearly 4 months.

All alone in her office. Barely any light was seen except from her small desk lamp. Her laptop right infront of her, opened and showed the details of the autopsy report she examined just a few hours ago before she accidentally dozed off.

Her empty coffee cup almost begging for it to get refilled immediately.

She checked her pocket, taking out the stopwatch she had always treasured, without it, surely she wouldn't have anymore power... She would be...

Nothing more than a useless human.

Amelia clutched her temples, it was the voice in her head again. It devoured her thoughts. All she could ever think of was the voice, it's never ending whispers of how it thinks she is useless.

She gritted her teeth. Putting the stopwatch in one of her drawers. Moving to step away from her desk. Her eyes widened at the sight of her case papers flung all over the place.

What exactly did she do.

She sighed, taking her coat and her keys with her before she exited the office and the building to go outside and get fresh air. She needed it before starting to work again atleast.

She decided to walk on the cold city night. The amount of the large buildings passed her as she walked farther. Yet as she went, thirst began to creep in her throat, she was lucky enough to find a vending machine as she was walking.

"A bottle of iced coffee sounds good..." said Amelia as she took some coins from her wallet to slip in the machine.

She stopped momentarily, she heard footsteps coming to her direction. Her other hand quickly clutching to the gun by her waist.

Finally, she pulled the gun, spinning on her heels only to be found that the person behind her was...

"Woah woah chief, I was only trying to get you to get me a can of lemon lime soda..."

"...Gura?" Amelia put the gun down, and back to her gun holster.

"Yep! I uh... Missed you so, I used your scent to find you when I didn't see you in the office earlier. Hopefully that doesn't sound weird."

Amelia blushed, she didn't care for the whole scent thing. It was a shark's ability and nothing about that part came to her surprise. Although...

"Not weird at all but uhh... You, you missed me?"

"Yeah stinky! You haven't been home for a long time."

"It was only two days."

"I read two or more is already plural Watson! It means it's counted as alot."

Amelia giggled, in the days she had stayed in her office, she finally let out a giggle "That's ridiculous."

Gura blushed and looked away for a moment, before looking back at Amelia.

"So uh, you wanted soda?" Amelia asked as she went back to the vending machine. Gura gave a sing-song hum as a response of approval. Amelia got the soda first, before her iced coffee.

They walked back to the office, hand in hand.

"I didn't know you'd be out at this time just for me." Amelia admitted.

"What do you expect? I can't stay still in one place and wait for you. Time... Moves really slow when you're not around and that's not very exciting."

Gura had always believed time passes quicker when you're with the person you love. And that has always applied to everyone else in Hololive EN, but mostly? To Amelia Watson.

"Well if I could talk with time I'd make it faster for you if I could." Amelia giggled.

"You can! I believe you can."

Amelia didn't actually posses the ability of controlling time though, nor could she actually talk with time. Who does that anyways?

Amelia only nodded weakly.

"Aww come on, cheer up chief. I'm right here." Gura let go of Amelia's hand for a moment, walking infront of her and stopping right there. Causing for Amelia to stop walking herself. They were close from the station.

"Hey Watson?"

"Mhm?"

"I will always be here for you. I will continue to make you proud of me." Gura smiled, before reaching on her tippy toes to kiss Watson on her soft lips.

If she could, Amelia could've cried right there and then. Of all times, of all people. It had to be Gura. The one who always made her heart skip a beat. The one who made her smile like she hasn't done in so long after getting absorbed in her work.

But.

She does not complain. Infact she was glad it was Gura. She was afraid one day she had to leave the atlantean. She was just a human. She will grow old.

Oh how she hoped so hard she wouldn't.

She could stay still in that moment forever.

She closed her eyes and savored the kiss, responding to it by leaning in closer.

Stay with me, Gura.

"Your office is messy." Gura said as she began helping Amelia to pick up the scattered papers and files.

"Stress got to me. I lost file no. 9 earlier and struggled to find it so-"

"Oh you mean this?" Gura held a green folder entitled file no. 9, smirking.

"How on earth..."

"Hoocha! Get amazed by my shark powers!" Gura handed the folder over to Amelia, the blonde time traveler hurrying to open and read the contents of it. It was exactly the remaining missing details from her research. Almost too busy reading it to notice she had knocked her mug out of the table.

"Ame!"

"Huh?" Amelia looked away from the folder, suddenly, everything felt very slow. She had enough time to notice that the mug fell. But she was too far to catch it in time, instead she held out her hand. And everything felt normal once again.

Her eyes were closed.

No glass shattered. And a gasp was audible from Gura's mouth. Amelia opened her eyes and turned her head. The mug has stopped, frozen in time.

She stopped time without her stopwatch.

Gura hurried to take the mug, it seemed to be fine. And it didn't feel extraordinary either.

"Gura did you... Did you see that?!"

"Hell yeah! That was so coo-"

Gura was cut off as the time traveler hugged her. Tight.

Gura smiled and put the mug back to it's place before she hugged her girlfriend back. Until suddenly, Amelia began crying. That got her shocked.

"A-ame...?"

"I've been having endless nightmares, a voice... Telling me I don't belong with anyone else in our group and... I feel lost... I stopped time, I'm not useless... Gura."

Gura's breathe hitched "What are you saying...? You are not useless and you were never useless Watson! You make everyone happy, you make me feel happy... And now we've discovered something you can do. You will learn more."

Gura kissed Amelia's forehead.

"You're not lost Watson. Even if you think you don't belong anywhere." Gura held Amelia's hands, placing them in her chest, a place that indicated where her heart was "You are always here, in my heart."

Amelia blushed. Gura began wiping away her tears.

"Don't ever cry about that, alright?"

Amelia finally laughed "You sound so different when you care for me."

"Wha- We were having a moment! Watson!!!"

"Haha hey! Don't chase me! My papers will get even more scattered!"
