Atsumu checks his watch nervously and adjusts his tie. With a hand in his hair he spent 20 minutes on earlier, he thinks over the advice Osamu gave him -don't stress out, be yourself, be a gentleman, compliment her, and make her talk about herself.-

The door suddenly opens and he stops thinking altogether because oh my god she's so cute and gorgeous how the hell did I manage to score a date with her oh god what if I'm bad looking -oh god I ruined my hair- what if I dont know what to say what if-
The distress must show on his face because she asks "Atsumu? Are you okay?" His head whips up and he reminds himself with a smile this is fine. It's Cathy, my little pumpkin. She would never think bad of me.
He officially starts the date in his mind and says with a charming smile he knows works "Yeah I'm alright, I was just blown away by yer beauty tonight". Cathy blushes and takes the arms he offers her. Oh god she's adorable " Ready to go, sweetheart?" Cathy looks at him with a big smile and exclaims "As ready as I'll ever be!"
He leads her to his car and opens the door for her. She feels slightly weirded out but flattered huh, I didn't think he was this affectionate.
In the car on the way to the restaurant, Atsumu tells her about his latest game with the cutest most excited grin on his face while he drives. She loves listening to him talk about his passion.
When they arrive at the restaurant and get to their table, he's in the middle of talking about how Bokuto's genius cross shot was all thanks to his toss when he suddenly stops himself and blushes. "I'm so sorry I kept talkin' this long oh god. Please! tell me about yer day I wanna know how was work? didja have a good day?"
Atsumu is convinced he messed up very bad because he kept rambling about his stupid game that wasn't even that important anyway.
Cathy is confused, what's going on with him today? is he acting like this because this is our first date? why is he trying to change? "Well my day was alright, but I wanted to know about your game! how did Bokuto react to your toss after his cross shot?". Atsumu is taken aback, she actually wants to hear all that? was 'Samu wrong??.
Atsumu regains confidence and he finishes the story about the game while they eat, with some commentary on Cathy's part. They both enjoy the date really well. On the way home, Cathy tries to understand what happened earlier.
"Hey, Atsumu?"
"hmm?" he answers and looks at her quickly before looking back at the road.
"What was that earlier?" she asks.
"What was what?"
"Why did you suddenly stop talking and apologize?"
Atsumu visibly flusters and shyly admits "I wanted to be a good date for ya and let ya talk".
Cathy squeezes his hand and reassures him "I love hearing you talk though, so please don't change yourself because of me."
Atsumu looks at her and pulls the car over to the side "Atsumu what are you-" suddenly his lips are on hers and they back off just as quickly. he gets back on the road while Cathy is left a blushing mess. "You-" she exclaims "Don't just do that!". Atsumu just laughs and the rest of the drive is in this lovely mood.
