My Lords

Summary:

2nd book

So this is an idea....

Notes:

The first chapter is to set the context. It would be somewhat canon related with the training camp arc and all. Yea, it's just an idea...

Chapter Text

His pale hands were stained red, fires were burning and the sound of swords clashing were loud in his ears. This is war. The skies were dark, reflecting the situation on the ground and Tsukishima fought with his life on the line. There was no other choice but to fight and win. Bodies fell to the ground one by one as the soldiers clashed. Tsukishima had prepared to die on this battle field, to die for his lords. The skies thundered as lightning flashed through the clouds. No one showed any signs of slowing down as more bodies fall to the ground. "We will fight for a better future." Tsukishima mutters as he slashes through the enemy soldiers. He had to claim victory, even at the cost of his own life. He carried on like everything he had depended on it, until he was the last one standing.

The rain poured down heavily, extinguishing the fires. The blond stood there in his armour, drenched in the blood of his enemies and comrades. This was a bloody fight. The messenger was right by his side as he heaved. Tsukishima knew his time was running out. "We have to return." The messenger, also his best friend, Yamaguchi said. Tsukishima shook his head as he held his wound, his blood seeping through. "I can't go back anymore." Tsukishima said, his voice could barely be heard. Yamaguchi had tears in his eyes as he held his best friend. "What about Lord Bokuto, Lord Akaashi and Lord Kuroo?" Yamaguchi tried his best to keep his tears in. Tsukishima smiled as he handed a hand written letter to Yamaguchi. "Give this to them. We have won..." Tsukishima said his last words before passing in Yamaguchi’s embrace.

Yamaguchi sobbed as he mourned for his best friend, but he had a job to do and he had to leave his friend behind. He carefully removed the tags of all the soldiers, including Tsukishima’s and went back to the palace. He handed the letter to Kuroo who happened to be there along with all the tags. "We won, but..." Yamaguchi choked, he couldn’t bring himself to announce the news to the older man. There wasn't a need to, his tag was there. It was proof enough. "It can't be..." Kuroo stared at Tsukishima’s tag which was at the top of the stack. "Is this a joke? This isn't funny Yamaguchi." Kuroo is upset, well he didn't want to accept the fact that the blond is dead. "Do you think I would joke about Tsukki's death? He died in my arms! I didn't want to believe it either but... it's the truth." Yamaguchi broke down for a second time over his best friend's death.

Kuroo stood there in shock as he stared down at the tag his lover used to wear. "I shouldn’t have let you go to war..." Kuroo fell to the floor as he clutched Tsukishima’s tag. It was silent, only Yamaguchi’s sobs filled the room. Tears were falling from Kuroo's eyes, his lover is gone. "He is gone..." Kuroo whispers as he clutches Tsukishima’s tag tightly. "This is all my fault. I shouldn’t have let him go." Kuroo mutters. Just then the double doors open, revealing Akaashi and Bokuto. "Yamaguchi you're back." Akaashi noted. "What's with all this gloom?" Bokuto seem to sense something was wrong. Bokuto and Akaashi were confused as they made their way closer to Kuroo who was on the ground, clutching something. "What's wrong?" Akaashi asks as he kneels down next to the black haired man. "Tsukki, our moon and sun, is gone." Kuroo finally let go of Tsukishima’s tag. Bokuto couldn't hold back his gasp as he stared at the tag.

Akaashi screamed for the first time in his life, his heart felt like it was being squeezed. The one that he loves is being taken away from him. He could have stopped it, why didn’t he? It would not have ended in such a way if he had said something. Akaashi blames himself. They all could have done something to stop this outcome from happening. If it meant losing their moon, they rather not win this war at all. There were back up soldiers, they could have done the same job as Tsukishima. Why did they send him off instead? Kuroo carefully opened the letter in his hands, the last letter Tsukishima wrote. He stared at the neat handwriting of his lover that covered the page. He had seen it so many times, but it is still beautiful. The tears that have unknowingly stopped, started flowing again.

The letter:

To my dearest lovers, Keiji, Ko and Tetsu,

I knew with this war, I won’t make it back this time round, but please don’t be sad, don’t blame yourselves, don’t blame your decisions. I think, you’ve made the right choice sending me out there. I know you are great lords, fighting for your people. For that alone, I had to fight and win, even if it costs my life. The time I spent with you have been the best parts of my life and even if I don’t show it, I truly enjoyed your company.

I know the time that we have been with each other is short, but I guess my time is up. I just want you to know that I love all of you so damn much. Please live your life to the fullest for me.

Love,
Kei

Kuroo simply couldn’t stop his waterworks as he continues to cry. Yamaguchi had already excused himself to go cry in his own room. Akaashi is clutching onto Tsukishima’s tag and Bokuto is just numb.

“You have killed many. Your hands are stained red.” A mysterious voice spoke. Tsukishima stood in a full white room. “For my country, I will do anything.” Tsukishima said firmly. “That is a noble statement, but it doesn’t work here.” Tsukishima looked around, trying to find the source of the voice. “So what are you going to do about it?” Tsukishima asked in a calm voice. Surely it wouldn’t be worse than going to hell. “I’ll banish you back to earth, for you to cross paths with your lovers, but they won’t remember you and you won’t remember them.” Tsukishima doesn’t know if that is really a punishment or not, but if he is able to cross paths with them, maybe it would be worth it. After all, they gave meaning to his meaningless life. He would be fine, if they can’t remember each other. Their lives and fates are intertwined. “I really couldn’t care less.” Tsukishima shrugged.

It was less of a punishment, but a reward to Tsukishima. Being with them, whether he remembers or not, will still be the same as it has always been. Well, he will only wait to meet them once again...
