SasuSaku Month 2021

Day-4 Prompt: Pride

Work Text:

"Papa, can you teach me the Chidori?"

At first, Sasuke was shocked to hear this request from his daughter. He knew it was time for her to learn advanced jutsus. However, he didn't know that this request would come so soon.

He looked at his Sakura for her opinions. When she smiled at him and nodded her head positively, he looked at Sarada and said, "Yes."

Sarada beamed at him and thanked him profusely.

"So, is it a rival for whom you want to train yourself?"

Sarada looked at him with question in her eyes and uttered an unintelligible "Huh?"

Sasuke shook his head and said, "No, nothing. I have to remind you that your training will be more intense than before."

Sarada pumped her fists in the air and exclaimed, "I wouldn't expect anything less. Shannaro!"

Her display of pure excitement, accompanied with her mother's signature catchphrase, made her resemble Sakura. Sasuke could see that Sarada looked like him but her behavior was cheerful like that of her mother. He wouldn't have it any other way. Sarada was the member of the newest generation of the Uchiha Clan and the one who will break the cycle of the Curse of Hatred. She was his pride.

He wondered how Sarada would have been treated if her grandparents and uncle were still alive. Mikoto would have absolutely doted on her beautiful granddaughter. Distant memories of his mother cooing at little frocks and red bows came to his mind. He mentally cringed at the pleading look his Kaa-san would give him whenever she looked at dolls and ribbons. Despite his strict and no-nonsense countenance, Fugaku would have loved Sarada too. Sarada would have loved his Uncle Itachi for sure. Itachi would even pass on few of his techniques to his niece.

Sarada was grinning from ear to ear while thinking about her training with her father. The awkwardness between them was finally becoming less.

Sasuke and Sarada went to the training grounds for her chidori training.

"Sarada, this jutsu was actually passed to me from Kakashi."

Sarada gasped and whispered, "Lord Sixth?"

"Yes. Now see it carefully."

"Hai, papa."

Sasuke was proud to say that his daughter was an exceptional learner. With an advanced chakra control and sheer determination, inherited from her mother, she learned the chidori in no time. In fact, she learned it faster than him at twelve years old.

He smirked and ruffled her dark locks of hair while saying, "Very nice, peanut. Keep practising and control your chakra."

"Papaaaaaaa, I told you not to call me by that name." Sarada jutted out her bottom lip in a pout. The pout soon disappeared and a smile broke out on her lips.

"Come on it is getting late. We should go back home."

Home

He has a beautiful wife and an obedient daughter.

He was thankful that Sakura didn't give up on him and continued loving him. She was a stubborn woman and he loved her for her stubbornness.

If someone told twelve-year old Sasuke that he would marry Sakura, he would scoff at them and call Sakura annoying. Not that Sasuke still didn't call her annoying but now it was just a term of endearment for her.

"Hai, papa." Sarada latched to his lone arm and started walking. They passed by the dango shop so Sasuke decided to pick up some dango for his wife.

Sarada looked at her father and said with a teasing tone, "Papa, I didn't peg you to be bring-dango-to-wife kind of a guy."

"Tsk. You are annoying just like your mother, peanut."

"I love you too, Papa."

Sasuke looked at her with softened eyes. His ears absolutely DID NOT turn red when Sarada teased him about the dango. He would let it pass this time but next time he would tease his little Peanut about Naruto's son.

Sarada mastered her chidori in almost a month which was less than the time Sasuke mastered his own. With a precise chakra control, she could practice chidori without wasting much of her chakra. She could use her two-tomoed Sharingan perfectly too. Her taijutsu was also improved after practicing with her mother.

With a huge grin on her face, Sarada exclaimed, "Papa, I did it"

Sasuke looked at her with soft smile on his lips and poked her forehead with his index and middle fingers while saying, "That's my daughter. I am proud of you."

Sarada's cheeks turned into a rosy shade after hearing her father compliment her.

Sakura laid awake on their bed. It was quite late in the night. Her husband was awake too, if his irregular breathing was an indication.

She looked at him and murmured, "She is just like you, Sasuke-kun."

Sasuke opened his eyes and let out a questioning "Hn?"

"Sarada."

"Hn. She is like you too."

Deciding that it was fun to tease her husband, she said with a coy smile, "She has to get her cheerful personality from one of us and I am sure that you weren't the one who gave her that."

Feeling offended at the fact that his wife called him anti-social, Sasuke opened his eyes and gave her a half-hearted glare. He tightened his lone arm around her waist and kissed her neck before closing his eyes again.

"Tsk, stop being annoying and sleep."

Sakura giggled lightly but ultimately relaxed and closed her eyes too. She yawned and whispered, "I love you too, Sasuke-kun."

Just a few days back, his daughter said the same thing to him when he called her annoying. Sasuke inwardly smirked at the fact that both of them were more similar than they liked to show. He felt a sense of pride and love thinking about his favorite girls.
