"Can we go see the fireworks tomorrow?"
Trevor didn't take his eyes off the tv. "Why?"
"I wanna see them." Mati deadpanned.
"It's the same thing every year."
"But they're pretty."
"Why do you even care about the fourth of July anyways? We're both not from America."
"That doesn't mean we can't go out and have some fun. We're both citizens here now, anyways." Mati added.
"We'll see."
Mati frowned. Trevor was happy to stay at home and do nothing but drink, but Mati wanted to go out and have fun. If Trevor didn't want to do anything, then she'd make plans to go somewhere with Sangria. Hell, even Michael or Franklin would be better company than this party pooper.
Sangria sent another picture of herself at the parade in LS, making Mati more jealous. Trevor said they'd go do something, but then they never went anywhere.
"We better be doing something later. I missed the parade." Mati grumbled as she passed by Trevor to get to the fridge.
The heat was stifling and could knock anyone on their ass if they didn't stay hydrated. She wondered how Sangria was holding up, especially being surrounded by so many people. Maybe it was a good thing she didn't go anywhere.
"Don't you worry your pretty little head." Trevor smirked.
"So you do have plans."
"Maybe."
Mati glanced at Trevor. He seemed to have something up his sleeve but was keeping it well hidden. For now, at least.
"You ready?"
Mati looked up from her phone. Trevor was spinning his keys on the tip of his finger out of slight impatience.
"Where are we going?"
"The longer you sit here and ask questions, the more you're going to miss."
Mati jumped up and headed for the door. She still had no clue what Trevor had planned, but she didn't want to waste any more time in case she did miss something. She jumped into Trevor's truck with excitement of the unknown.
"This isn't going to be much of a surprise if you're looking." Trevor said as he handed a bandana to Mati to blindfold herself.
"Kinky." Mati smiled.
"Don't get me started."
Mati smiled and tied the bandana tight. She couldn't see anything, but she felt Trevor's hand find its way into hers as they travelled. Wherever they ended up didn't seem too far from the trailer. Or so Mati thought. Trevor helped her out of the truck and guided her to their next objective. It was a step up into a different seat, which confused Mati. Then Trevor fastened her in.
"I was kinda joking about the kinky thing earlier, but now? I'm not so sure." Mati said.
"Tonight's not over." Trevor suggested.
"Oh."
Trevor snickered and gave her a kiss before shutting a door next to her. That's when it hit her. They were in the heli. Trevor joined her and that's when she asked.
"Why are we in the heli?"
"My surprise has been spoiled, huh?"
"Just added two and two together." Mati said. "Can I take this blindfold off then?"
Trevor said yes and Mati didn't hesitate. They didn't often fly in the heli, and she loved it every time. Watching Trevor pilot the bird made him look so sexy. Trevor noticed her staring and pointed at the secondary headset so they could easily talk over the noise of the heli. However, as soon as she opened her mouth, a boom sounded near her. The first firework of the night.
"Where are we going anyway?"
"Downtown LS."
Mati could see fireworks going off in the distance in backyards as they approached the city. The highways were packed with cars all trying to get to the same place.
"Should be any moment now." Trevor told her.
"What am I looking for?"
"You'll see."
They were so high up they could see so much of the city. Then the fireworks started going off. First somewhere on the beach, then near Mirror Park, then several other spots around the city, even in the streets. Mati was in awe. Of course she'd seen fireworks before, just like Trevor said earlier, but not like this.
"Can—can we get closer?"
Trevor navigated towards the beach so they could view one of the fireworks shows up close.
"This is amazing." Mati said.
The two hovered in the heli watching the fireworks for close to half an hour before needing to take off to Sandy Shores. The entire flight back Mati couldn't help but to smile. Fireworks were still going off all over the state. Even back in Sandy Shores, all the rednecks were lighting off fireworks like it was the end of the world or something. Trevor landed and helped Mati out of the helicopter, and she immediately hugged him.
"Thank you so much for taking me to see the fireworks, babe. I loved it." She smiled.
"Oh, we're not done."
"We're not?"
Trevor grabbed her ass to drop the hint.
"Oh so you were serious about that." Mati realized.
"I am if you are."
Mati smirked. "Then we better get home."
