Chapter Text

It’s Adeleine’s birthday and all Dedede could do was stare at a family portrait on the wall, at the bottom there was an engraving; ‘ Dreamland Royal family: King Dedede and the young Princess Adeleine’. In the portrait was of Dedede himself holding a sleeping human baby girl. The king sighed "Has it really been twelve years since I’ve gotten ya?" He asked himself. It seemed like only yesterday since he adopted the little girl….

——— Twelve years before———

It was late into the night but Dedede didn’t care as he swung his hammer into a training dummy causing it to break in half. It had been a stressful week for him and this was the best way for him to let of some steam. He was so busy destroying test dummies that he didn’t notice an old friend of his flying into the castle garden. Dedede lifted his hammer ready to turn the last dummy into splinters only to be stopped by a soft voice.

“King Dedede?” A female voice ask trying to get his attention, causing the penguin to accidentally drop the hammer on his head being caught off guard.

Dedede placed his hand on his head already feeling a bruise form and turned to look at where the voice came from; it was the princess and future Queen of Ripple Star. "Opal are you ok?! It’s really late, did you fly all the way here by yourself?!" Dedede completely forgot about the bruise in his head and he ran up to his friend worried about her, he could tell that she has been crying, her hair wasn’t in her usual braids and it was slightly messy, she looked tired. She was also holding a small pink bundle close to her chest.

“I need your help.”

“Anything! Just ask!”

Opal couldn’t help but give him a warm smile as she showed the king what was in the bundle that she had carried with her, it was a little baby girl. Dedede’s eyes widened seeing the baby, it hit him like a buss and he quickly noticed that the little baby had the same dark hair and fair skin as Opal even with the many similarities the duo there was one VERY noticeable difference.

".... No Wings?"

“No, she looks quite human which makes it dangerous for her back home…”

There where a million question going through Dedede’s head but he only managed to ask one. “You want my to take care of her?”

“Your the only one I can trust.” Opal gave Dedede the bundle and gave the baby girl a kiss on her forehead.

“What’s her name?”

“Adeline.”

“It’s a beautiful name… Don’t worry she will grow up safe and loved. I promise.”

Through the years Dedede has raised and loved Adeline as his own child and would send Opal (now Queen) letters with pictures and updates on how she was doing and the years went by he learned the full story on how Adeline was born and why she couldn’t stay on ripple star. In his and Opal’s letters they both agreed that Adeline should only be told the truth once she’s an adult.

Dedede was taken out of his thoughts once he heard someone at the door, turning he saw Adeline wearing a red dress and headband instead of her signature green one and beret. “Hey Dad The party is about to start and everyone is here! Are your ready yet?” Adeline asked obviously existed.

He couldn’t help but smile when he saw her. “I’m ready princess.” He held her as she lead him so the thrown room. Adeline was the best thing to happen to Dedede and he wouldn’t trade the past twelve years for anything in the world. “You know I think auntie Opal mentioned that she was able to make it this year.”

Yep it was officially. There was no way Dedede was going to sleep tonight. The king tried everything he could to get himself to sleep but alas nothing worked so now he was just staring at his phone looking over the ‘star allies ‘ group chat that Kirby made giving him a probably stupid idea.

King Dedede created the chat Dad Club.

King Dedede added Meta Knight, Daroach, and Hyness to the chat Dad Club.

King Dedede gave Meta Knight admin privileges

King Dedede: is anyone still up?

Hyness: I WAS about to go to finally go to sleep. Keyword being was.

Meta knight: it’s 2 am. What are you doing up?

King Dedede: I can ask the same question too you

Meta Knight: touché

Daroach: MOTHER FUCKER I JUST GOT THE SQUEAKERS TO SLEEP! DO YOU KNOW HOW HARD THAT WAS TO DO!? 6 GLASES OF WATER, 3 BEDTIME STORIES, 5 ‘MONSTERS IN THE CLOSET’, AND 7 FUCKING NIGHTMARES! THE PHONE BUZZED JUST AS I WAS LEAVING THE ROOM MAKING THEM WAKE UP I HAVE TO DO ALL THAT BULLSHIT AGAIN BITCH WHAT IN THE PINK FLYING FUCK DO YOU WANT AND WHY DID IT HAVE TI BE THIS EARLY!?

Daroach: late

Daroach: early

Daroach: WHATEVER YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN!

Dedede: Daroach I am so sorry and I did not mean to wake up the squeakers

Dedede: I’m gonna be honest and say that I didn’t expect anyone to be up or answer. Anyway I wanted to make a little club for us dads… also I couldn’t sleep and I was really bored.

Daroach: 🖕

Meta Knight: good idea, stupid timing.

Hyness: Wait you three also have children???

Dedede: Yeah, you remember the human girl and the Waddle Dee with the Bandana that fought with us against Void? That’s my daughter Adeline and Dee is my godchild Bandee…. And technically Kirby…. Nah definitely Kirby. Kirby’s my kid too

Meta Knight: I have three not including Kirby. A Daughter that I believe is the same age as your youngest named Sirica, a son that is a bit younger named Knuckle Joe, and my youngest named Sailor Dee.

Daroach: ok I think I win with the most amount of kids here. I.. just need to re count how many squeakers there are again…

Several people are typing…

Daroach: welp there it is the first ‘several people are typing’

Dedede: NOVA THAT MANY KIDS!? NO WONDER YOU WERE PISSED OFF WHEN I STARTED THIS! DUDE I AM SO SORRY!

Meta Knight: AND I THOUGHT I WAS GOING CRAZY WITH 3

Hyness: HOW DO YOU EVEN HAVE THAT MANY!?

Hyness: @Meta Knight also same

Daroach: yes. Just yes. Let me add that Storo and Spinni are also my kids

Dedede: HOW OLD ARE YOU!?

Daroach: never ask a bitch their age.

Dedede: awnser the damn question bitch

Daroach: 34 so what?

Dedede: how old are your kids?

Daroach: I don’t know why this is so important to you but Storo is 18, Spinni will be 13 in a couple of months, and the squeakers are around 7-4 depending on which one you are specifically talking about. Any other personal family questions?

Hyness: what about the little fellow with the glasses and green mustache? Is he family too or just a friend?

Daroach: You mean Doc??? I guess both??? He saved me when I was like 13 and decided to take me in… he’s sorta treated me like his own son…. I guess I never really thought about it before

Dedede: wait you said Storo is 18 and that you are 34

Daroach: MOVING ON!

Dedede: Oh Shit Doc and Hyness should make an old man club

Hyness: I would enjoy having a conversation with him without us trying to kill one another

Dedede: Yo Meta you should see if that birb friend of yours would join them!!!

Meta Knight: I’ll see if Vul would join the ‘Grandpa club’ they have going on

Dedede: yes

Daroach: how de hell did we go from Dedede waking us up, to you guys getting interested in my family, to Hyness starting a grandpa club

Hyness: IM NOT A GRANDPA

Dedede: OK CHANGING THE SUBJECT TO ANYTHING OTHER THEN THAT

Meta Knight: Like how you forgot about Sir Ebrum to the ‘dad club’

Dedede: SHIT I KNEW I FORGOT SOMEONE

Daroach: well it’s like 3:30 am I doubt he would respond or even notice if you added him right now

Dedede: true I’ll add him in the morning

Daroach: SO FOR HIM YOU WAIT TILL MORNING BUT FOR ME YOU HAVE TO WAKE UP MY KIDS

Dedede: I SAID I WAS SORRY

Hyness: this was fun but I am going to log of now. Zan Partizan woke up and is trying to get me to go back to sleep

Daroach: Tell her I said hi

Dedede: Anyway I think I kept you guys up for long enough and I think we should go to bed now

Dedede pleased his phone on his nightstand finally ready to actually go to sleep. Just as he was about to finally drift off into the land of dreams.

The king wasn’t even mad if anything he was impressed with Daroach’s pettiness.
