Work Text:
The first time they met, they were 8 and 10 years olds. Jimin was small in size and skin was so pale. His hair was dark and long with a mop of bangs. He was standing quietly with his head hanging down.
Yoongi had stared at him with eyes full of curiosity and wonder just like any other 10 years old would.
He tapped at Kang's shoulder and told him to look at the strange boy. Kang had turned his head and looked, he was a little taken aback but regained composure quickly. He was 12.
The two boys were accompanied by their mother to the mall and they were done shopping. They were standing waiting for their mom to come and collect them. Yoongi had continued to stare at the boy who just happened to be following someone, maybe his mother.
Maybe Yoongi had imagined it but it felt so real when the boy looked over his shoulders and their eyes met for the first time. The boy's mouth turned up in a small smile and something in Kai's heart jumped. He had remained rooted to the ground while he watched the boy disappear in a corner.
This was 7 years ago.
Now standing behind the counter looking at the familiar face, Yoongi didn't know what to say. The boy probably doesn't remember him. He doesn't blame him. After all they never interacted but he would always remember the smile and that face.
"Hey, are you listening to me?"
That voice pulled Yoongi from his reverie. He flushed him a smile, "yeah, hold on a little bit" he said as he started serving his customer. From the corner of his eyes, he saw the boy smile. The same smile that he stills remembers.
Maybe they can start from the present.
