Notes:

Chapter 1: Beginnings

Chapter Text

A blade is forged with the intention to kill, to defend, and protect. A blade spends their entire life beside their masters, until they break and are melted and forged into a new blade once more. It's a cycle of reincarnation, with no beginning or end, and without the complexities of a mortal. Swords were objects after all; their cold steel bathes in blood and their soul holds no heart.

So, is it truly possible to forge something human?

With a single touch, you seemed to have brought a mere sword to life. He resembled you, in the sense that he was indeed human, with a surprising range of emotions. He winced with pain as enemies marred him, he smiled at the beauty of victory, and his eyes seemed to gleam whenever he saw you, his precious master. Cold steel began to peel away, revealing warm gold. For a blade as sharp and precise as him, he possessed a certain softness unknown. His hands were gentle whenever he held you close to him, and you felt a passion that was as blazing as the fire he was forged in.

Whenever a blade dies, he becomes cold steel once more, but with you, they reborn into warm gold.
