“What’s the matter, pet?” Loki asks, worry seeping through his voice.
“Nothing,” you say as you try to shift into a comfortable position on the bed. You are wrapped in a soft and light robe in hopes that the burn scattered across your shoulders and back wouldn’t be irritated. Laying on your stomach seemed to be the best position to exist in, so you are not going to fight it.
“It is quite obvious you are in some sort of…discomfort.”
You sigh, letting your brain try to come up with a valid excuse. How can you tell him that you were a weak mortal that can’t stand to be in the sun for longer than twenty minutes without getting burned? You watched as Loki and Thor spent the majority of that day in direct sunlight with no need for sunscreen to protect them. It was just a small reminder that your boyfriend and his brother were better and stronger than you would ever be. Not for lack of trying on your part, it was just something that was.
“It was just a really long day,” you try, your voice betraying you.
You hear Loki sigh and shift on the bed behind you. Before you can think of something else to say, he places his hand on your back making you hiss out in pain.
“I knew it. You are injured,” he accuses. “What happened? Did Thor get too rambunctious at the beach today?”
Taking a few deep breaths while waiting for the pain to subside, you weigh your options. You can be honest and tell him that you had a bad sunburn or you can lie but you know he will find out eventually anyway. There was no way you could hide the burn for the rest of the weekend.
Even though he is the god of mischief, one thing Loki asked of you was that you were honest with him. He promised that he would grant you the same courtesy, being sure to always be truthful. It had worked so far, him coming to you when you knew he wanted to just push the issue aside or come up with some elaborate tale. The act made you feel special. It made you feel like you were the most important person in his life, aside from his brother of course.
So, with that in mind, you slip your robe off of your shoulders to reveal the angry skin underneath the light cloth. You lay back down on your stomach, but shift enough to be able to look at him.
“It’s just a sunburn. I put aloe on it, but it still hurts pretty bad. Really it’s not that big of a deal,” you try to soothe.
“Darling, why didn’t you tell me? I can help with this. I can at least take the pain away.”
You shrug your shoulders, immediately regretting it as a wave of pain descends down your back.
“Did you put on enough of that horrid white chemical mixture?” Loki asks softly as he takes in your back, his hand hovering just above the heat from your skin.
“It’s not horrid. It keeps me from burning. And yes I did, multiple times,” you tell him. It was true. When you knew you were going to be in direct sunlight, you put on sunscreen. You knew you had a tendency to burn so you made sure to bring enough sunscreen for the weekend.
“It is horrid. It makes your skin smell like chemicals. And that greatly displeases me, but I was willing to allow it because you said it would keep you from getting harmed. Obviously that was a mistake,” Loki told you.
“In my defense it normally works,” you pout.
“Yes, I can see that. We will just have to find a better solution next time. Now, do you want me to help you with the pain?”
You consider it. There were still a lot of things that Loki could do that you didn’t know about. You never imagined that it would extend to helping a sunburn. Before last year you really never even imagined he would be willing to help you without something in return. But as you got closer, you realized that he genuinely cared about you. It took constant reassurance and many conversations to prove that he cared about you, but what set it in stone was when he stayed by your bedside after a lab accident left you in the hospital for a week. Usually Loki couldn’t care less about those who got injured but he stayed the entire week. He was even respectful when he had to help you to the bathroom, making sure the placement of his hands were okay.
You shift again and nod.
Loki runs the back of his fingers over your cheek before leaning down to lightly kiss your temple. “Stay still, my love.”
You obey as he lithely moves across the bed to seat himself above you, one leg on each side of your upper thighs. You hear him hum in consideration before he takes the robe and lowers it as much as he can while still keeping you modest.
“You did quite a number on yourself,” he murmurs, placing his hands on your hips while considering what he was going to do.
“It doesn’t feel awesome,” you whisper.
“I should think not,” he says.
You glance over your shoulder at him as he looks over your back. You were in the sun for way too long and you know he is making a mental note to remind you to stay in the shade to keep this from happening again by the way his brows furrow slightly.
“This may sting at first,” he warns.
Then you feel his hands slide up your back and you can’t help the moan that leaves your lips. His hands feel cold as they trace the skin on your back. His fingertips ghost across the burnt flesh and leave a numb feeling that leaves you feeling euphoric. The tightness of your skin relaxes and the burn that shoots down your spine eases. Your head slowly rolls to the side as the tension leaves your body. Loki continues his menstruations as your body relaxes fully under him, becoming pliant.
“How does that feel darling?” He asks you when you let out a particularly sinful sounding moan.
“So much better.” You shift slightly to look back at him. “Thank you,” you say, letting all of your sincerity shine through your tone.
He lifts himself just enough to allow you to roll over underneath him, but keeps straddling your hips. He places one hand by your head to help hold him up as he cups your cheek with his other hand. He leans down until you can feel his breath across your skin.
His lips are soft and cold as they meet yours. If you didn’t know any better, you would say they were hesitant. So, you lean into him and let your fingers trace up his torso, feeling excitement when you feel his sculpted body under your fingertips. How this man ever fell in love with you, you will never know, but you thank every god there is for him.
You feel his tongue brush across your top lip and you instantly open for him. He is intoxicating when he kisses you like this, his mouth claiming yours while still making you feel like you are in control.
You break away from the kiss, taking a few breaths. Loki places his forehead against yours as he waits for you to calm down.
“I love you,” you whisper to him.
“As do I, darling.”
“Loki,” you whine.
Loki laughs softly. “I adore you, my love. The sun will never set on a day that I do not call you mine.”
His declaration makes you swallow a lump in your throat. You love this man with everything in you. You know that there will always be issues and that Loki will always have to continually prove himself to other people, but to you he will always be gentle and sincere.
“I love when you talk all regal and fancy,” you tell him as you caress his cheek in your hand. You let your thumb brush against his cheekbone and he closes his eyes at your touch.
Loki presses a kiss to the hollow of your throat. “I shall talk any way you like best.”
“We still have an hour until we need to meet Thor for dinner,” you say breathlessly.
He leans down and you can feel his breath tickle the base of your ear. “How shall we pass the time, pet?” Loki asks you, his voice husky.
“Well, now that my back feels better, I can think of a few things,” you say as you drag your bottom lip into your teeth.
His eyes catch the movement as he lifts his head to see your expression and he smiles down at you hungrily. “Oh, my pet, I do hope you are ready because I could barely control myself when I saw you in your swimwear today. You looked ravishing,” he growls.
You smile up at him fondly remembering how his sculpted form made you feel like you were burning even before going out into the sun. “I can always put my swimsuit back on,” you suggest.
“No. I much prefer you bare. If I had it my way, you would never wear a stitch of cloth again.” Loki says as he runs his hands down your body, making you tremble.
You feel yourself blush as you take in his words. This god makes you feel happier than anyone ever has before. He makes you feel valued and loved. With one more kiss to his jaw, you show him how much you appreciate his help with your sunburn, taking full advantage of being pain free.
