Kiyomi rolled over and ran her hand along the empty space beside her, eyes fluttering open groggily as she looked for Light. It didn’t take long for her to find him staring out the window, his silhouette cutting against the glow from the city skyline.
She scooched up from beneath the covers. “Light? Is everything alright?”
“Yes. Everything is fine.” He continued to watch the world below him from his vantage point high in the penthouse suite of their hotel room, a grin pulling at the corners of his mouth.
“Are you coming back to bed?” She asked, her voice silky as she tried to lure him to her.
He offered her an easy, charming laugh before joining her beneath the sheets. “Couldn’t sleep without me?”
“That isn’t it. Your absence woke me is all.” She pursed her lips in feigned annoyance as she snuggled against him, running her fingertips along his bare chest. “What had your attention?”
He smirked, a huff of amusement lingering on his words. “I was looking at my new world…our new world. One day the sun will rise and the reign of Kira will dawn with it, no longer hindered by those that oppose me.”
“Well I suppose that is a good reason to lose sleep,” She teased him gently before kissing his collarbone.
He tucked one hand behind his head, the other draping around her. “And What keeps you up at night, Kiyomi?”
She traced the curve of the muscles down his stomach. “The fear that one day you will grow tired of me, that you will choose another to be by your side.”
“You don’t have to worry about that.” Light narrowed his eyes, his smile painting his expression darkly. “I would never sacrifice you, Kiyomi.”
