Sailing

Summary:

Francisco and Luísa share their first sailing trip, which turns out to be much more pleasant than she'd suppose.

Notes:

Once again big thanks to @Lilacsong for her proof-reading.

Work Text:

"How could this possibly be your favourite summer activity-" Luísa tried to shout over the wind. "When this is no fun!?"

Francisco just laughed and pulled the rope he was holding tighter, adjusting the sail and making the boat lean even more towards the water.

"Come on Luísa, we've barely left the port. It'll be more fun when we get to the open sea.”

Luísa huffed in response and moved to the stern to get some kind of shelter from the wind. She remembered to mutter loudly: "Why did I ever agree to this" as she passed Francisco. This unfortunately didn't work, because she was sure this sudden sway was not accidental.

Two hours later Francisco dropped the anchor and moored the little sailboat in the middle of the sea. The sun shone, glistening on lazy waves. The albatrosses and seagulls crossed the blue sky and disappeared into smudges of clouds on the horizon. The boat swayed gently as the lowered sail flapped softly on the breeze. The whole world harmonized to create an atmosphere of calm and bliss.

Luísa inhaled the salty air and lay down on the deck, closing her eyes from the sun.

"Okay, I guess now I see why you like it so much."

Francisco, who was lying next to her only hummed in agreement, already half asleep. They rested like that for a while, enjoying the weather and each other's company. Finally though, Luísa stood up and stretched. She crossed the entire ship (which wasn't more than 7 meters long) and stopped at the bow. She sat at the railing and looked out over the waves.

"Although I never thought you would enjoy something so boring."

Francisco gasped and stood up, woken up by her voice.

"Boring? Well then maybe you should steer us back to Avalor, that should excite you."

Luísa glared at him but eventually shrugged.

"Why not. It might turn out to be fun. And it's definitely nothing hard."

Francisco scoffed, taking on an overly offended expression. Then he just burst into laughter.

Luísa also laughed, and as they finished she continued. "Still, there's nothing to do when you're moored. You're just all alone in the middle of the ocean."

"Well I for one am glad that we're here all alone." Francisco hummed and placed a quick kiss on her lips. Luísa smiled.

"Hmm I guess I should've listened to my parents when they warned me about mysterious handsome soldiers." She said, hiding her surprise behind their usual banter.

"Oh so I'm handsome?" Francisco flirtatiously twirled his mustache.

"Pshh, as if you don't say so yourself at least twice a day."

"But hearing it from the most beautiful woman in the world is much better."

Luísa felt herself blush. Somehow he always found ways to surprise her even though they had been dating for all this time.

"Ay Francisco…" Not able to find better words, she just pulled him into another kiss.
