Chapter Text
The rules were simple; balance a shot on your lower lip, rotate the glass with only your tongue before the liquid contents were swallowed. If you spilt the alcohol or you dropped the glass, you'd have to take a shot of something stronger.
Everyone - Jake, Corey, Sam, Colby, Kat, Devyn, and Nate - were in on it. Kat and Devyn played the game with the boys for a while before they started to realize it was a bit much, and started to play a slower paced drinking game in the living room.
It was Jakes turn, the shot glass rotating in his mouth before he successfully gulped down the liquid before grabbing the glass and letting out a loud and proud yell. Corey cheered and clapped Jake on the back as the other walked to the sink to grab some water.
Sam was up, he used a different glass, balancing it on his bottom lip, he gave a look over to Colby. It was a side eye as his tongue pushed the shot back a little, tipping it back before it clanked his teeth and fell into his mouth.
Colby cleared his throat as he covered his mouth and rubbed his chin when he watched a cocky Sam walk back to the little circle.
"Fuck you." Colby spat softly at Sam in no real malicious intent. He knew what the other was trying to do, Sam had always been jealous of Nate.
"I'd let you." Sam chuckled back quietly so Corey and Jake wouldn't hear. Colby just grumbled a little and flushed pink as he rolled his eyes. "Uh-huh." He muttered.
It was Nates turn now, skinny guy, a little shorter than Colby.. Colby found it cute, the height difference, the way Nate used his vocabulary.. it made him fall head over heels and Sam knew it.
Repeating the process everyone else had, Nate balanced the shot on his lip and watched Colby for a moment before getting flustered. Corey was laughing as he watched Nate struggle with the glass on his tongue. "Come on, Kansas boy!" He laughed.
Colby watched too, for two reasons. One, Nate and him had been sharing a shot glass for this game, and two, Poor Nate. After another six long seconds of watching the poor man struggle, hearing Corey and Jake laughing along with Sam; Colby stepped in.
He grabbed the shot from the others mouth, held it between his fingers before backing the liquid into his mouth, dropped the glass to the ground before giving Nate a look. Emotion, fear, excitement, adrenaline, and alcohol- mixed into one expression.
Colby swung his empty hands up to cup the others cheeks before slamming his lips onto Nates tightly. Their eyes were squeezed shut, hearts pounding, hands clutching and.. Nate felt his hands coming up to grip at Colbys wrists in shock, but he accepted what he felt not long afterward.
The alcohol was filling his mouth again, not knowing what to do with it in the moment, he let it sit in his mouth before Colby pulled away. It wasn't until he could see Colby looking at Nates throat did Nate swallow.
He watched as Nates Adam's apple moved down for a few moments before coming back up and Nate was looking at him with wide excited eyes.
Nate breathed as he gripped Colbys wrists, his world spinning.
"Are you ok?" Colby asked, rubbing his thumbs over the other cheeks.
"Never better, Colby." Nate whispered, his knees shaking a little as he leaned his head into Colbys hands and breathed the metal from Colbys rings making him relax.
Colby could feel the others' eyes on him and manic laughter coming from Jake and Corey. It was more or less cheering and more drinking on their end, they didn't care that the two boys just kissed. Sam watched with jealousy in his eyes, to cover it up he raised a glass and laughed before taking a big drink of something.
Nate holds Colbys arm and slowly, tipsily, dragged the other to the room, away from everyone else. Colby willingly walked with Nate, he felt like he had done something wrong but.. it felt so right.
When they got to Colbys room, he cringed. It hadn't been cleaned in a while, but Nate didn't seem to mind, pushing the door open and carefully maneuvering through the piles of clothing and whatever else.
Colby sloppily shut the door behind them before he had to weave around the piles of clothing on the ground. Nate let go of Colbys arm and leapt on the others bed. Black satin sheets enveloping Nate in such a feeling he let out breath of air.
"C'mon!" Nate smiled, rolling over so he could pat the bed next to him, inviting Colby to lay down next to him. So that's what he did, laying down next to Nate, Colby snuggled a bit into the bed and looked away from Nates eyes until he looked up.
Fuck.
He felt his heart beating out of his chest as he saw those brown orbs staring back, dark eye lashes moving along with his slow, tired blinks.
"Colby?" Nate laughed, bringing a hand up to cup Colbys cheek. That was quick to bring Colby out of his trance, he jumped as he gasped, his hand coming up to grab Nates.
"Nate!" He gasped as he breathed deeply, looking down again before slowly shifting his body to get closer. He could just barely feel the warmth emanating from Nates body.
"Colbs, shh, gosh you scare me." Nate breathed, his chest lowering. "Come on," he shifted his hand on Colbys cheek to urge him to move more forward so that's what he did. Colby scooted his body more forward, wrapping his arm around Nates body and snuggling his head into the others shoulder.
"Thanks Nate.." he whispered, legs tangled together as he gently kissed Nates shoulder. "I love you." He whispered, kissing Nates shoulder again. "I love you so much." He kissed it again.
Nate merely giggled and shook his head.
"That's just the alcohol talking, Colby. Go to sleep.."
Nate laughed lightly, he was more drunk than Colby. The kiss was remembered but... it was all the alcohol. Colby felt his chest slowly tightening as he clutched Nates back.
Yup. Only the shots and a few gulps he had was talking. Not the endless nights awake thinking about Nate, not the hours of phone calls that filled up Colbys evenings, not the texts.
It was the alcohol.
"Right, goodnight, Nate."
