And I Still Talk To You (When I’m Screaming At The Sky)

Summary:

***Spoiler Alert for The Black Widow Movie***

Previously titled “Bird Whistle” cause I’m a fucking idiot
It’s not a happy ending, just a bit of closure. I know we don’t really like when it’s not a happy ending, but this was easier to write for me so…

//////////////////////////////////////////////

Yelena whistled, hugging Natasha’s grave, not expecting anything other than silence in return . And then, she heard it, it was faint, and she thought it was only a memory, but there was a smoky shadow lurking over her.

“ You called? ” The voice was soft, distorted, and sounded like death, but Yelena would recognise it anywhere.

Notes:

I’m bad at writing in general, wrote this around 5 minutes after I got out of the cinema, in around 25 minutes, and English is my second language so… have fun.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Yelena whistled, hugging Natasha’s grave, not expecting anything other than silence in return . And then, she heard it, it was faint, and she thought it was only a memory, but there was a smoky shadow lurking over her.

“ You called? ” The voice was soft, distorted, and sounded like death, but Yelena would recognise it anywhere.

“Natasha?” The blonde’s voice was shaky, unsure even.

She was afraid to look up, afraid that it would only be a dream. A dream that would turn into a nightmare the moment she looked up, that her sister’s eyes would be hollow staring through her soul, skin would be pale, and cold to touch.

Or maybe even worse, it would just be Natasha’s rotten corpse, lying on the floor, just out of reach.

“Hey, младшая сестра (little sister). ” Yelena couldn’t stop herself this time, she looked up, expecting the older girl’s eyes to be hollow and lifeless, but what she saw was not even close.

Natasha didn’t look like she had aged a day since Yelena last saw her, she had a black cloak on her, with the hood covering the back of her head, and her braids spewing out. There was a dark smoke surrounding her, like a shadow that’s about to swallow her whole.

“How? Why-” Yelena couldn’t wrap her head around what was happening, but she didn’t care anymore, she buried herself in Natasha’s arms, “You’re here.”

 “Yes, but not for long.

“What do you mean? You’re here, you don’t have to go! Please don’t go!”

“I’m sorry Yelena, I am only still here because I had unfinished business, but it’s fulfilled now.”

  “What unfinished business?”

“You. You were snapped, and I didn’t know if they were able to bring you back. But I’ve seen you, you’re here now. It’s time for me to go now.”

“Please, Nat, don’t go, I just got you back please!”

“Извини, я люблю тебя, моя младшая сестра.  Помни это. (I’m sorry, I love you, my little sister. Remember that.)

Yelena tried to hold on tighter but, she couldn’t. Natasha was gone already, evaporated into dark smoke. And Yelena lost her sister again.

Notes:

No I did not check the grammar, spelling, context, or anything. I just typed it. It’s not like I would know if I had any mistakes anyways, and I’m too lazy to try to use Grammarly.

The Russian is translated from google translate so if it’s wrong it’s not my fault, and honestly I don’t know what this is.

Y’all I just reread this and it wasn’t as bad as I thought? Surprising decent for when I was that age, I didn’t fix the mistakes I noticed though
