Work Text:
College sucks. Jimin had mentioned it more than once today. His mid-term exam was finally over few hours ago—he should be grateful for that. But, no, Jimin didn’t think his suffering would end anytime soon. This was his second year after all, there are plenty things waited for him in next day, next week, and next year. “Why can’t I just attend class without working on project like that?” He murmured, rubbing on the skin below his eyes—it was getting dark there. “I want to sleep for all day tomorrow. Fuck everything, my schedule is booked for weekend.”
Beside him, Hoseok only chuckled. He pulled Jimin closer to him by his shoulder. “Do you want me to stay over? I can cook for you so you can have rest.” If there’s something that Jimin felt grateful right now, it’s the existence of Hoseok only. That boyfriend of his is always full of patience. Just like his mother, Hoseok would take care of him without saying anything. For example, walking him home after class if their schedule ends on the same time. Hoseok is a year older than him and they also took different major in university. Usually they can only meet at their day offs, but sometimes one of them would come to the other’s department building to have a walk together. Sometimes, too, it ends on one of their dorm. It’s the best place to spend time with both of them only—exception if Hoseok’s roommate isn’t around.
“Thanks, hyung. But—”
Just before Jimin finished his sentence, a grumbling sound was coming from afar. The sky above them started to become grey, strong wind blew their locks. A second after, drops of water slowly poured down to earth. Jimin looked up. “Shit,” He cursed. They immediately ran to a nearby closed shop and stayed under the canopy. None of them was bringing umbrella—the early forecast didn’t say anything about rain today. Jimin let out a heavy sigh. “Can’t this day get any worse, huh?” He leaned his back on the glass door, eyes closing. Hoseok looked at him. Jimin had been working hard for the mid-term exam project in the last two weeks. He lost sleep time and they never went to any date during that period. Hoseok wasn’t less busy, but his major doesn’t have as much challenge as Jimin’s. He got it that Jimin felt too weary after finishing it up.
“But what?” Hoseok asked, repeating the word that Jimin was saying before. He had leaned his back just like him. “If you’re gonna say, but I don’t want to burden you, then you better not say it at all. I’m not bothered to take care of you, big baby,” The nickname sent Jimin’s corner of the lips lifted up. Hoseok smiled. He knew well Jimin also likes to be babied by him. He likes to be spoiled and Hoseok was the perfect opposite for him. It never burdened him. Hoseok enjoyed his time when he got the chance to pamper his lover.
Thinking about that, Hoseok suddenly got an idea to make Jimin feel better after this rough day. He straightened his back and then bowing down to untie his shoes. “Hyung, what are you doing?” Jimin questioned him, but Hoseok didn’t say anything. He took off his shoes later and left them beside the younger, along with his bag. Hoseok walked through the rain and stopped at the middle of the small road in front of the shop.
“Come here!” He yelled, a bit unclear due to heavy rain that poured him. Jimin’s eyes went wide. He yelled back.
“What the hell are you doing, hyung! You will catch cold later!”
But Hoseok only laughed at that. He reached out his hand. “Can I have your permission to dance, Jimin-ssi?” Hoseok asked politely. His lips morphed into a smile and his eyes turned into crescent. He knew this would work. Jimin stilled. He didn’t do dance like Hoseok. The older joined a dance club and always had great performance whenever he was invited to do stage. Jimin never had the chance to dance with him, though. It was always the girls and boys from the dance club and not him. Hoseok also never asked him like this before—it usually just a joking way to have him moving along when some song was played. They never danced together, even when they are on dates or such.
“No,” Jimin looked away. “Come back here, you will catch cold later if you stayed up there,” He repeated his words without looking at him. Hoseok’s smile disappeared. He was turned down. This didn’t sit right in his mind. Hoseok lowered his hand but his legs remained unmoving. He shook his head. Jimin didn’t see that either. The thunder was hitting once. Hoseok jolted, Jimin startled. He immediately looked up to see Hoseok was still standing under the rain.
“I know how to do waltz.”
That. That sent shivers running through Jimin’s spine. He expected Hoseok to ask for some hip-hop or street dance that he usually did—but not waltz. Not that kind of dance. Jimin’s cheeks got heated up. “I can’t do that,” He whispered, more to himself. But Hoseok could see his lips—he could hear him. Without Jimin’s knowing, he stepped closer to him and searching for his hand. The coldness and wetness made Jimin turned his head. They exchanged glance.
“You can. Trust me,” Hoseok’s voice was low but reassuring. He pushed a smile, trying to get Jimin’s trust back. Slowly, the younger gave him a nod. He released his bag and taking off his shoes. With a shy moves, Jimin followed Hoseok’s step. Their hands still clasped. Jimin felt the drops of water started to wet him but didn’t say a word. Hoseok grabbed his other hand. They looked at each other.
“Put your feet above mine.”
“No, I can’t—”
“Jimin-a,” Hoseok called him. His hands on Jimin’s went tighter. “Trust me,” He repeated himself. Jimin was unsure. But the looks on Hoseok’s eyes were determined—full of trust. If Hoseok could believe in him, at least Jimin could do the same too. They were already drenched when Jimin slowly moved his feet. He lost his balance for a bit but Hoseok was fast to grab him on the waist. Jimin was all blush on his cheeks. They stilled—Hoseok’s right hand on Jimin’s waist, his other one has its fingers intertwined with Jimin’s ones.
“Shall we start?”
Their moves were uncoordinated. Swaying right and left. Jimin had put his hand on Hoseok’s shoulder. They stared eyes to eyes again. “I’m bad, am I?” Hoseok spoke out. Jimin chuckled. He knew Hoseok was trying to make him feel better by saying that. Both of them were clearly bad at this, but they kept going. He got the steps by then. They tried another move as Jimin slowly put himself back down on earth. Walking forth and back, releasing hands. Stepping right to left, doing claps. Moving closer, face almost touched each other. From afar, their giggle could be heard. Jimin did a spin once, Hoseok followed him after a second. They laughed.
“I can do better than you, hyung,” Jimin said in confidence, stepping back a little before going forth and have his hands meet Hoseok’s one in a clap. Hoseok had big smile on his face. The younger was no longer all sulk like before. He was all smiley and laughed a lot. Hoseok was more than happy to see that. No, he couldn’t do waltz actually. He just watched the video today by accident and the idea was roughly made because he thought it would be fun to try it with Jimin. And it literally did. They had fun and by the end of the imaginary music in their head, Jimin plopped himself to Hoseok’s embrace. His hands hugged Hoseok’s shoulder tightly. “I danced with you, hyung. I did it,” He whispered happily.
All Hoseok could do was smile. He had his hands on Jimin’s back. “You did great,” Hoseok added him. The rain was slowly calmed down. The water drops were not as much as before. Sun had been going down, the night was around them right now. Both of them looked up and laughing. They would surely catch cold after this. “Should we head to your home, now?” There was a question from Hoseok. Jimin pulled himself back. He smiled.
“Let’s go.”
They took turn to have warm bath later. Two cups of ramyun were being their dinner that night. Hoseok had some of his clothes purposely being left on Jimin’s house so whenever he needs to stay over, he would already have a change. Jimin went straight to the bed after finishing his meal. Hoseok had to clean up everything first before joining him. Jimin was about to say sorry but Hoseok sealed his lips with his own. “Is this enough? Do you want another blanket?” Jimin shook his head. He snuggled closer to Hoseok. Warm.
“Hug me while I sleep,” Jimin’s muffled voice said it. Hoseok was more than glad to do it. He tucked them under the blanket then positioning himself so Jimin could sleep properly on his embrace. Hoseok placed a kiss on top of Jimin’s head. Smell like shampoo. He pulled him closer and drifted to unconscious right after. Jimin already snored softly beside him. They slept soundly that night, not knowing how red their noses would be tomorrow.
