Finally Home

Summary:

The war has finally ended. The Sith are defeated. The Separatist and the Republic are negotiating peace. And Aniis and Double are finally home.

Notes:

Just a short fluff piece. I love Aniis and Double, they are a power couple if there ever was one.

Work Text:

They had moved in together shortly after the war had ended, and wasn’t that a ride. Finding out the chancellor was a sith lord, but it was satisfying hearing the story of Mace beheading the bastard. They hadn’t even unpack the few things they had before adding another member to the family. The baby boy was orphaned during the war, and they couldn’t stand by when the two of them could do something for him.

Aniis and Double had just settled down for some late night cuddles. Which they rarely got to partake in, less so than during the war. They had just thrown their extra large, extra fluffy, homemade throw blanket across their legs when the monitor started wailing. They both heave great sighs. Aniis goes to get up, but Double rests a gentle hand on their shoulder to stop them.

“Don’t get up, I’ll do it”

“You’re acting like it's a sacrificial mission or something.”

“Says the one already down two shirts and a pair of pants.”

Double victoriously struts from the room as Aniis laughs at their own expense. By the time they had calmed down and wiped the tears from their eyes, Double still hadn’t returned. Aniis, though a jedi, has never perfected patience. Especially not when it comes to cuddles with their stern teddy bear of an ARC. So they spring from the couch and sneak after their partner.

As they make their way down the hall a faint melody whispers from the baby's room. Aniis braces against the door frame and watches a man built for war, but whose so much more, gently rocks his son back to sleep. They watch with a smile pulling at their lips and listen as a lullaby smooth as silk caresses their son to sleep. If they hadn’t spent 3 years with the warrior, they would never have been able to see him beneath the man.

Double holds their son with such tenderness, such love, that you would think he was made to be a father instead of a soldier. Aniis joins the embrace and sends all the gratitude and love they can to the force for letting them keep their family safe. For letting them stay together and for letting them give the man they love a home and a family of his own.
