Work Text:
Jimin sighed deeply, rolling his shoulders in an effort to get rid of the ache spreading through his muscles. He’d been practicing until late at night the last few weeks and combining that with his college work and his shifts at the coffeeshop, he was exhausted.
He was about to start cleaning the counter when two arms circled his shoulders and a head landed on his shoulder. “Chim!”
Jimin turned his head to look at his best friend and roommate, Taehyung. He raised a brow as he shook the taller boy off his back. “Tae, you know you’re not allowed behind the counter.”
“But-“
Jimin shook his head, not able to stop his fond smile from spreading across his face. “Sorry, Taetae.”
Taehyung pouted as he was pushed to the customer area of the coffeeshop, choosing to lean across the counter in order to regain Jimin’s attention.
“So, anyway, what do you want to do tonight?”
Just as Jimin opened his mouth to answer, Taehyung held up a finger to stop him.
“No, you are not practicing again. I swear, I think you could go through that routine while blindfolded by now. You’re relaxing tonight. So how about we get take-out and binge that new drama?”
Jimin could try to argue, but he knew that was futile when it came to Taehyung.
“Fine,” Jimin grumbled, “now go finish your work. I will not be used as a procrastination technique,” he said, smirking at Taehyung’s guilty look.
“But- oh, nevermind, I’m leaving! Good luck, Chimchim,” Taehyung said, a knowing smile on his face.
Jimin frowned and he was about to question his friend’s sanity when he heard a small cough from his right. He’d been so caught up in Taehyung’s antics he hadn’t noticed a new customer had arrived. Mentally scolding himself, Jimin turned to the customer in question and put on his most friendly smile.
“Sorry about that, he’s insane, can I help you?”
That’s when Jimin looked up and he was stunned into silence by the sight of the boy who was looking at the menu with wide eyes. Damn it, Taehyung.
“That’s all right, I have a few friends like that myself, uh, I’ll just have an Americano, to go,” the boy said.
Jimin tried his best not to show his disappointment when he watched the boy walk away.
~
“So, Jeongguk came by again today, huh?”
Jimin sighed. “Hobi-hyung, please.”
Hoseok gave him his best innocent smile. “What did I say? Do you not want to talk about the most handsome boy you’ve ever seen in your life?”
Jimin groaned. “I said that once! Why do I call you guys my friends?”
“Because we’re the only ones who will put up with your dramatic single ass?” Taehyung said.
“To be fair, I also put up with yours,” Jimin countered, gesturing to Taehyung who was currently sitting with his legs thrown over Jimin’s lap.
“For your information, I am not single,” Hoseok said, smiling brightly.
“Oh my god, we know!” Taehyung and Jimin chorused. Hoseok just cackled at their annoyed faces.
“Anyway, we’re getting off topic, how was Jeongguk?”
“I’ve never actually had a conversation with him, hyung, he’s so intimidating yet so soft looking at the same time, it confuses me,” Jimin pouted.
“It also turns you on, though,” Taehyung deadpanned.
“Oh my god please stop! Let’s just watch this shitty drama, please, I have enough to worry about without adding Jeongguk in the mix,” Jimin groaned.
~
Jimin wasn’t lying when he said he had enough to worry about, but he still couldn’t keep his eyes off Jeongguk whenever he walked through the door of the coffeeshop, bringing a gust of cold wind with him. The boy had first come in about two months ago, and he had quickly become a regular. He often met up with his friends, whose names Jimin found out were Namjoon and Jin, or worked on what Jimin assumed to be his homework, fingers drumming on the table and gaze flicking around the coffeeshop every few minutes. He seemed to have endless amounts of energy.
He also had amazing reflexes, which Jimin found out when he had almost dropped a cup he was about to give Jeongguk and the boy caught it effortlessly.
“Sorry about that. And thank you,” Jimin had said, smiling widely until his eyes turned into crescents.
Jeongguk had seemed frozen for a moment before the corner of his mouth quirked up and he nodded in recognition. Jimin had questioned his life choices when he felt the swoop in his stomach that followed the unexplainably attractive action.
Jimin still remembered the first time he’d seen Jeongguk, wide brown eyes filled with a wonder that contrasted with the boy’s grungy clothes and the small tattoos on his right hand. It instantly drove Jimin crazy. When the boy appeared more often throughout the next several weeks, Jimin couldn’t believe his luck. However, whenever he tried to talk to Jeongguk, the other boy responded curtly and his eyes wandered from Jimin’s face in the middle of his sentences. So he’d resigned himself to admiring Jeongguk from afar. He was rapidly becoming an expert at that, earning some smacks on the head from Taehyung in the process.
Even when he wasn’t working, Jimin found himself in the coffeeshop almost every day of the week. He preferred the warm and calm atmosphere, the air filled with the smell of coffee and vanilla extract, to the chaos of his apartment with Taehyung. That is why Jimin found himself working on an assignment at one of the tables by the window, tapping his pen in thought, when Jeongguk came in, accompanied by Namjoon and Jin. As Jimin looked up, Jeongguk was laughing and Jimin found himself blushing at how cute the sound was. That was when Jeongguk locked eyes with him, smiling in recognition.
Jimin’s own smile widened and he ducked his head to hide the red spreading across his cheeks. The movement triggered a spasm in a muscle in his neck and he winced, rubbing at his neck with a frown. Maybe Taehyung was right and he should be more careful with practice.
That thought triggered his panic. He’d promised to cook dinner for Taehyung tonight and he really had to go. He jumped up, tugging his jacket on and slinging his bag over his shoulder before shouting a quick goodbye to his boss. Jimin thought he saw Jeongguk looking after him with a worried look on his face before he rushed out the door, but he chalked it up to coincidence.
~
Jimin was working again, and being pestered by his best friend in the process.
“But Taetae, I have to practice on Saturday, and my shift on Sunday is so long,” Jimin tried, knowing the power of his pout.
“Come on, Jiminie, please? It’ll just be the four of us. Hobi-hyung really wants us to bond with Yoongi,” Taehyung pleaded. He knew exactly what to say to persuade Jimin, who sighed before he inevitably caved.
“All right, we can host, but just make sure it doesn’t get too late, okay?”
Jimin couldn’t help but smile at the way Taehyung’s face lit up in a boxy smile. “Thank you, Chim! I’ll spoil you Sunday night with cocoa and cuddles!”
“You sound like you’re his boyfriend,” a deep and slightly amused voice sounded from beside them. Jimin looked up to see Hoseok and his boyfriend, Yoongi, plop down into the seats next to Taehyung who rolled his eyes at Yoongi’s remark.
“Hey hyungs,” Jimin smiled warmly at them, before noticing a movement in the corner of his eye. When he looked up, Jimin swore he could see Jeongguk quickly avert his gaze.
“Hey Jiminie, so I overheard that you agreed, right?” Hoseok bounced excitedly, making Yoongi smile at his sunny boyfriend fondly.
“Yes. But Hobi-hyung, could you please help me with practice that afternoon in return?”
“I don’t know if I have time, Jiminie-“
Jimin put on his best pouty face, pushing his lips out and widening his eyes.
“Oh no, don’t give me the puppy face, please! I’ll do it!” Hoseok screeched, covering his eyes in mock-fright.
Yoongi, who’d been focussed on his phone, scoffed at his boyfriend while throwing an arm around his shoulders. “You’re so weak, Hob-ah.”
Hoseok raised an eyebrow at his boyfriend, his serious face scaring even Jimin slightly.
“Really now? I don’t think even you can withstand Jimin’s pouty face, Yoon.”
Yoongi scoffed again, looking stoic as always. “I could.”
“You want to bet, tough guy?” Jimin asked with a smirk.
“Like I have to prove anything to you three. But fine, I’ll bet you for a free coffee,” Yoongi said.
Jimin nodded and shook hands with the rapper. “You’re on.”
Jimin was not confident in many things, but his pout was one of them. Two minutes later he was enjoying a Caramel Macchiato he made for himself and as he licked the foam from his lips he smirked at Yoongi in satisfaction.
“So now that Chim’s power has been established, can we go back to teasing him?” Hoseok asked from beside his frowning boyfriend.
“Come on, you weren’t even teasing me before,” Jimin whined.
“So have you talked to Jeongguk yet?”
“Not outside of the usual small talk,” Jimin said.
“Well, if you want progress you’re going to have to do something about it,” Taehyung said.
“Who said I wanted that? I’m content with admiring from afar and not embarrassing myself, thank you very much.”
All three others rolled their eyes at Jimin, but before they could scold him, the bell rang and a cold breeze went through the room, announcing another customer’s arrival.
Jimin smirked, “saved by the bell.”
As soon as Jimin had served the customer and returned to his friends, they were deep in discussion about the best way to survive the zombie apocalypse.
“I mean, I feel like a dog is the best defence, so I’d have a head start already,” Taehyung said.
“Really? You think little Yeontan is going to save you from zombies?” Hoseok asked, laughing.
Taehyung’s offended gasp was drowned out by Yoongi’s suggestion.
“I say you should act like you’re one of them. Throw them off your scent.”
Jimin’s eyes drifted to Jeongguk’s table as his friends continued arguing, and he noticed Jin and Namjoon had joined him. Jin looked upset, a look that seemed out of place on the chipper boy’s face. Just as Jimin looked over, he saw Jeongguk pull a face and coax a loud laugh from Jin. Jimin felt a soft smile spread on his face.
Yoongi followed Jimin’s eyes to the table at the back of the coffeeshop and remarked “hey, Namjoon’s here,” before taking a casual sip of Hoseok’s coffee. That stopped the ongoing argument as all three others looked at him in shock.
“What?” Yoongi asked.
“You know Namjoon?” Jimin asked.
“Yeah, he’s a music production major, like I was. We’ve worked together a couple of times.”
Taehyung made an indignant noise as Hoseok smacked his boyfriends arm.
“How could you not tell us this?” Taehyung exclaimed. Jimin hastily gestured for Taehyung to lower his voice, knowing how loud his best friend could get.
Yoongi frowned. “Why would you care?”
“Because! It’s a connection with Jeongguk!”
Yoongi still looked confused, making Taehyung groan in frustration. “You can introduce him to Jimin. Oh my god, how did you even get a boyfriend?”
“I did all of the work,” Hoseok stated casually, Yoongi nodding solemly in response.
“So, introduce us to them!”
“I thought I only had to introduce Jimin to Jeongguk?”
“And make it extremely obvious? Of course not.”
Jimin sighed and turned to Taehyung. “Do I even have any choice in this?”
“Do you not want to be introduced to the boy you’ve been pining over?”
Jimin looked over at Jeongguk who was working on something, looking extremely focussed, tattooed fingers tapping the side of his thigh, and sighed. “Yes, I do.”
That was how Jimin ended up spending his break being introduced to Jeongguk and his friends.
“I’ll start then. I’m Seokjin, but you can call me Jin. I majored in comedic acting before I graduated last year. Technically I’m still working in comedy, just without getting paid for it,” Jin said, smiling and shooting finger-guns to the younger boys.
“I’m Namjoon, I major in music production and I’m told I’m a little clumsy,” Namjoon said with a sheepish smile, making his friends exclaim in disbelief.
“You are so much more than a little clumsy. You’re an actual god of destruction, Joon,” Yoongi deadpanned, making the rest laugh. Taehyung and Jimin exchanged a look, silently agreeing not to share the amount of times they’d broken their apartment’s microwave with their ‘experiments’.
“Uh, hi, Jimin-ssi already knows me, but I’m Jeongguk. I major in game design.”
“Yeah I’m going to stop you right there. Jeongguk-ah is good at literally everything and it annoys the shit out of the rest of us. I’m planning to examine his brain one day, seriously, he’s not normal,” Jin said, whispering the last part conspiratorially.
Jimin giggled, adding the newfound knowledge to his mental Jeongguk-profile.
“It’s true, the kid even sang on one of my tracks once,” Namjoon added.
“Uh, I would like to keep my brain,
please,” Jeongguk said drily.
“I’ll examine it after you’ve died, obviously.”
“What makes you think I’ll die before you?” Jeongguk asked with a significant look.
“Yah! I’m not that old Jeongguk-ah!” Jin exclaimed, smacking the other and earning an immediate smack back.
“Anyway, so what year are you in, Jeongguk-ssi? Are you a junior too?” Taehyung asked.
“I’m actually a freshman.”
“Wow that’s strange, you look so much older than that. In fact, I think you look older than Jiminie here, but then again, he is the baby of the group,” Taehyung stated with a boxy grin.
“Tae! I’m not even that short,” Jimin whined.
“Sure Jiminie.”
“I’m the same height as Yoongi-hyung,” Jimin grumbled, crossing his arms over his chest.
Taehyung pointedly ignored Jimin, making him pout slightly. “So, I’m Taehyung and I major in photography,”
All eyes then turned to Jimin, making him blush. “Right, I’m Jimin, I obviously work here, and I’m majoring in dance, just like Hobi-hyung here,” Jimin said. He felt more than saw Jeongguk’s eyes lingering on his face before they flickered over to Hoseok, and Jimin couldn’t help smiling.
Taehyung could be a lot to handle, but at times like this, Jimin was extremely grateful to have the social butterfly in his life. The group clicked so well that they agreed to get together more often, and Taehyung immediately invited them to the hang-out that Saturday. Jimin’s excitement rose at the thought of Jeongguk being there. He spent the rest of his shift humming happily.
~
Jimin was working the late shift that Thursday. It annoyed him to no end because the evening was his favourite time to study or practice, but his coworker had wanted to trade shifts and he couldn’t say no to her puppy eyes. Since he had served Jeongguk a while ago, the coffeeshop had been relatively quiet, thankfully. Jimin rubbed his eyes for what felt like the tenth time that night. He was going over his lecture notes as he waited for a new customer to come in, which would probably be the last one of the night. As it turned out, no one else came in until the coffeeshop closed at ten, and Jimin thanked whatever God was out there for that.
Jimin was actually excited to clean up, because he felt like it was the only time, outside of practice of course, when he didn’t have to be ‘on’, there were no other people to help or impress and he could let loose for a while. He’d come into the habit of singing softly as he tidied the coffeeshop. Jimin loved singing but he’d kept it to himself, enjoying the comfort singing on his own brought him. So when he turned around to start stacking the chairs and found himself face to face with Jeongguk, who he’d forgotten was still in the coffeeshop, Jimin’s singing cut off and he squeaked in embarrassment.
“I, uh- could you please just pretend you never heard that?” Jimin asked with a blush creeping up his cheeks.
When Jeongguk shook his head slowly, Jimin felt his heart sink. He braced himself for the harsh words that were sure to come.
“No, I can’t. It was too beautiful. Jimin-hyung, where did you learn to sing like that? I thought you were a dancer?”
Jimin blushed deeply, unable to stop his wide smile. “Thanks. I am, but I like to sing. Please don’t tell anyone, though,” he said, panicking. Singing was something that was just his. He didn’t really mind that Jeongguk knew, somehow, but he wanted to keep that part of himself private.
“Don’t worry, I won’t. I understand.” Strangely, it felt like he really did.
“Thank you, Jeongguk-ah.”
“Could you, maybe, sing some more?” Jeongguk asked quietly.
“I don’t know, I just...”
“It’s okay. Maybe I’ll hear it some day...” Jeongguk trailed off, shrugging so his fingers brushed Jimin’s because of the close proximity. Jimin looked up, shocked, and met Jeongguk’s big eyes. He hadn’t realized how close they were standing.
“By the way, I don’t think you’re small. I think you’re about the perfect size,” Jeongguk said lowly with a slight smirk, fingers brushing Jimin’s again. The younger’s sudden confidence made Jimin breathe in sharply. The urge to lean in further and feel more of Jeongguk’s skin made Jimin slightly dizzy and he forced himself to look away, clearing his throat.
“Thank you, Jeongguk-ah, but it’s all right, they were only teasing. Do you want a coffee? We’re closing, but you can stay until I’ve cleaned up if you want, I mean, you don’t have to, but...” Jimin stopped his rambling, mentally kicking himself for making it awkward.
“Uh, yes, sure.”
Jimin placed a coffee in front of Jeongguk, who was sketching something in a big sketchbook adamantly. Jimin continued cleaning and tidying up, the two boys working in silence, a silence Jimin didn’t feel like he had to fill with words. It was comfortable and he hummed as he worked, marvelling at the easy atmosphere.
That night, Jimin had trouble falling asleep with all the excited energy still thrumming through his veins and Jeongguk’s face still in his thoughts.
~
Jimin spent the next day moving between his apartment, his classes, the coffeeshop, and the dance studio. He was leaving after a particularly gruelling practice when he heard soft strumming from the music rooms across the hall. He followed the sound curiously. When he looked around the corner he was faced with Jeongguk in deep concentration as he played his guitar. He’d occasionally make a small mistake, stop, and exclaim in annoyance, before returning to the song. Jimin gulped as he watched the boy’s focussed expression and his hands’ expert movement. Jimin wasn’t sure how long he’d been watching Jeongguk, mesmerized by the beauty, when his phone buzzed in his pocket with a message from Taehyung to ‘get his ass home, now, and bring food’.
~
Saturday had arrived. Jimin wondered why he felt as nervous as he did when he had to perform, but he suspected a certain doe-eyed, extremely hot boy had something to do with it.
His practice with Hoseok went well, but Jimin was exhausted, panting heavily, by the time he asked Hoseok for one more run-through. He prided himself on his perfectionism, but he promised his hyung he’d stop after one last time. As the music swelled, he moved into position and smiled at the feeling of absolute freedom that always enveloped him when he was dancing. His mind no longer produced thoughts, all that existed was Jimin, his body and the music. He felt the movements flow smoothly into each other as he let go and his body moved almost automatically from one step to the other, coordinated yet still free. By the time he’d come back to the stuffy practice room, he heard soft clapping from his left. He reached for his water bottle and turned, just to see Hoseok smiling widely as well as Jeongguk who looked like he was no longer breathing. Jimin gulped at the dark look in Jeongguk’s eyes as they raked over Jimin’s body, making him feel almost like he was naked.
“Oh! Hi, Jeongguk-ah,” Jimin said shyly. “So, was it okay, Hobi-hyung?”
“Jiminie that was more than okay, it was beautiful. Just make sure you‘re not too fast at the last part. Good job, kid.” Hoseok patted his shoulder, making Jimin smile shyly at the praise.
“Thank you for your help, hyung, see you tonight,” he called before running a hand through his slightly sweaty hair and drinking from his water bottle. He’d just gulped down the last of the water, still panting slightly, when he felt gentle fingers pressing the back of his neck, making him jump. The fingers swiftly massaged the sore muscles of his neck and shoulders, making Jimin moan softly in satisfaction. The fingers stilled at that, making him look back and meet Jeongguk’s eyes.
“I... I’m sorry, I thought you were Hobi-hyung.”
Jeongguk just smiled slightly, squeezing Jimin’s neck once more before he let his fingers slide off Jimin’s skin, leaving goosebumps in their wake.
“I’ll see you tonight,” Jeongguk’s voice sounded through the empty studio before he left Jimin to sit staring at the wall until he could function again.
~
Jimin had paced the floor for ten minutes straight while waiting for the others to arrive. He knew he looked good in the loose shirt and slightly too tight pants he was wearing, courtesy of Taehyung who had assured him they made his thighs and ass look amazing. However, Jimin still felt on edge. Hoseok and Yoongi had arrived some minutes before the others and were now joined by Namjoon, Jin and Jeongguk in the living room. Jeongguk had woken up and chosen violence, apparently. He looked sinfully good in a simple button-up and black jeans, his leather jacket discarded by the door.
Taehyung threw Jimin a significant look, making the boy raise his brows in question. Taehyung nodded to Jeongguk and smiled broadly. Jimin merely rolled his eyes and went to the kitchen to help Jin with the preparation for dinner. They were soon joined by Namjoon who offered his assistance.
“Oh no, Joon, you are not going anywhere near this pan,” Jin warned, waving a ladle threateningly towards Namjoon. “In fact, just don’t touch anything in here.”
Jimin laughed at Namjoon’s pouty expression, before going back to cutting the onion in front of him. He didn’t miss Namjoon’s curious eyes following his movements. Jimin noticed that he felt considerably calmer in the presence of Namjoon and Jin, the two older men and their banter putting him at ease.
As he sat down to eat Jin’s delicious Ramyeon, he felt much better than at the start of the evening, joking with Hoseok even if he was still overly aware of Jeongguk’s presence in the chair next to him.
The conversation soon turned into a competition of who could tease each other the best. Jimin had to force himself to stop laughing at the mental image of Jeongguk’s face as he was woken up by Jin and forced to make him pancakes at five A.M. as the result of a very unfortunate bet. Hoseok shared a story about Taehyung and Jimin who had convinced the ticket salesman at the movie theatre they were 14 years old, in order to get a discount.
Jimin blushed as Taehyung exclaimed “that was the best! Why do we never do things like that anymore? Oh yeah, because my Jiminie is too busy with all of his problems.”
“Problems? Is there someone I need to have Jeongguk beat up, Jimin-ah?” Jin asked. Jeongguk perked up at that, looking ready to fight already as laughter filled the room.
“No, no, he just has a crush,” Taehyung blurted out between laughs.
Jimin felt like his face turned red in about .2 seconds, even his ears felt warm. Everyone’s eyes turned to him and he shifted nervously, cursing Taehyung inwardly.
“I... I mean...” Taehyung paled.
“Oh, tell us! Who is it, do we know them?”
Jimin’s blood ran cold, heart sinking in dread. “I...”
“Ah to be young and in love,” Jin laughed, “so, Jimin-ah, who is it?”
Jimin’s blood rushed in his ears as he heard the others chuckle as well, tears threatening to spill at the thought of exposing his feelings so publicly and inevitably being rejected.
“Let’s not pry, Jin, we all know how that turns out... Remember the old lady across the street?” Namjoon said, clearly sensing Jimin’s discomfort.
Jimin’s mind was racing. Was he being obvious? Did they all know how pathetic he was, crushing on someone so out of his league?
In the middle of Jimin’s panic, he felt fingertips brush over the back of his hand under the table. His pulse jumped, prompting him to inhale sharply, eyes widening. The fingers settled more securely over his hand, a warm weight that brought him back down to earth. He blinked away the tears that had formed and enjoyed the fluttering in his stomach as Jeongguk’s fingers rubbed over his knuckles reassuringly. Jin was still telling his story in the background, but Jimin could only focus on the feelings in his stomach and his racing heart, threatening to expose him even further. He slowly turned his hand over, so his palm faced up, and intertwined his fingers with Jeongguk’s. Jimin smiled at the electric pulse that went through his hand as the fingers between his own squeezed slightly.
Jimin felt content as he was clearing the table after dinner, so he allowed himself to hum softly. He cleaned up with Taehyung and Jeongguk’s help, and he waited until Jeongguk had left the kitchen to start to follow, too shy to face the boy head-on.
He was intercepted by two strong arms as he was about to join the others, who were picking a movie to watch.
“Jiminie, I’m so sorry. It just.. slipped out,” Taehyung looked genuinely upset and Jimin knew he could never stay mad at him for long.
“It’s okay, Taetae,” Jimin said and he felt he meant it as he remembered the feeling of Jeongguk’s fingers intertwined with his.
“So are we good?” Taehyung asked, meeting Jimin’s eyes.
“We’re good.” Jimin sealed the statement with a playful bite on Taehyung’s shoulder, making the other smile with relief.
“Get in here, slowpokes!”
“What are you, ninety? Who even says that anymore?”
Jimin giggled as he approached the couch, where, of course, the only spots available were next to Jeongguk. As Jimin mentally compared the smiling Jeongguk to a bunny, Taehyung pushed him so he almost fell onto the boy. He threw Taehyung a glare before settling next to Jeongguk and focussing on the tv. Taehyung threw himself down next to Jimin and his elbow dug uncomfortably into Jimin’s side, making him squirm. Before he could say anything, Jeongguk gently pulled Jimin towards him, until Jimin’s back was resting against the other’s chest.
Once they were halfway into the movie, the closeness was driving Jimin’s senses crazy. He was enveloped by Jeongguk’s scent and his warmth, hyperfocused on the other’s breaths ghosting over his cheek and the solid warmth of his chest against Jimin’s back. If only he could sit this close to the other boy without an excuse, Jimin thought wistfully, looking over at Hoseok, who was wrapped around Yoongi like a koala, with a spark of jealousy.
The night ended way too early, even if Jimin had trouble keeping his eyes open by the end of it. He waved goodbye to everyone with his signature wide smile, cheeks bunched up and eyes shaped into crescents, before slowly padding to his room. He didn’t even really register the boy following him until he was in his bed, when Taehyung wrapped himself around him and whispered in his ear, “he checked you out, Chim, the pants were a success,” before falling asleep. Jimin smiled, thinking about Jeongguk’s wide eyes and strong arms as he drifted off.
~
Jimin’s shift felt like it had lasted forever. He sighed deeply as the last customer had left and he turned the sign on the door to ‘closed’. He turned the radio up and sang along to the song playing softly as he started cleaning up.
Jimin rubbed his eyes tiredly as he turned off all machines and he was about to start stacking chairs when he heard the bell on the door ring. Why couldn’t people read a closed sign? Jimin groaned under his breath before turning around as he addressed the late customer.
“I’m sorry, we’re closed for tonight-“
“That’s what I was counting on.”
Jimin was faced with Jeongguk, eyes filled with that dark look again as he walked over to where Jimin was.
Jimin felt himself stumble back slightly on instinct, “Jeongguk, what are you-“
His words were cut off as Jeongguk grabbed his hips and pulled Jimin against him, kissing him with hungry passion. Jimin squeaked in surprise, before responding eagerly. Their kisses were urgent, only pausing for breath before pressing back against each other almost immediately.
Jeongguk trailed his fingers over Jimin’s jaw with one hand as the other pulled him even closer by his waist. He caught Jimin’s bottom lip between his own, nipping slightly before he pulled back.
“Jeongguk-ah, I,..”
“I am your crush, right?”
Jimin nodded shyly before pressing another kiss to Jeongguk’s lips.
“You’re mine.” The statement seemed to carry a double meaning and its implications made Jimin shiver.
“I’m yours,” Jimin whispered.
Jeongguk’s eyes darkened again and Jimin only had time to think it was his favourite look on Jeongguk before the other boy was pushing him back against the wall. Jeongguk’s lips pushed hard against Jimin’s mouth. The fingers of his right hand gripped Jimin’s hip and started rubbing slow circles, making Jimin gasp slightly against Jeongguk’s mouth.
Jeongguk pulled back again, making Jimin whine.
“Jeongguk-ah, please...”
“Please what?” Jeongguk asked, tracing Jimin’s lips with his thumb.
“Please just...” Jimin gripped the front of Jeongguk’s shirt, twisting the fabric between his fingers and tugging.
Jeongguk smirked before he leaned down and put his hands under Jimin’s thighs, picking him up and pushing his back against the wall. Jimin’s startled yelp was cut off by Jeongguk’s lips. He swiped his tongue against Jimin’s bottom lip and worked his mouth open slowly before deepening the kiss by slipping his tongue into Jimin’s mouth.
Jimin wrapped his arms around Jeongguk’s shoulders for support, fingers running through his hair as the other boy explored his mouth. Jeongguk swirled his tongue around Jimin’s, sparking pleasure and making Jimin moan softly. That was when Jimin realized they were still in the coffeeshop, his workplace, and he pulled away from Jeongguk. He laughed at the younger’s pout.
“Put me down, Jeonggukkie.”
When he was back on solid ground, Jimin smiled widely at Jeongguk, cheeks bunched up. He pushed Jeongguk into a chair before running a hand through his hair tenderly.
“I still have to clean up,” he said at the other boy’s confused look.
Jimin sang as loudly as he ever had while cleaning up that night, smiling widely at Jeongguk at every chance he got.
~
Bonus scene:
Jimin entered Jeongguk’s apartment with his key and hung up his jacket, sighing and rolling his neck. He’d had a long shift and he was more than ready to eat.
“Jeonggukkie?”
“Shit!”
“Rude,” Jimin mumbled. He padded over to Jeongguk’s bedroom, peeking in to see the other focussed on his tv, controller in hand, headset covering his ears.
Jimin smiled at the sight of Jeongguk’s wide doe-eyes. As he walked over to his boyfriend, the other boy finally noticed him and a bunny-like smile spread on his face.
“Hey, baby,” he said, reaching out with one hand and pulling Jimin down by his collar to plant a kiss on his lips. Jimin sighed softly as he felt Jeongguk’s lips move against his, and he leaned in further before he heard his best friend’s voice over the headset that was still covering Jeongguk’s ears.
“Stop making out with Jiminie and come help, Jeongguk-ah! The next wave is approaching!”
Jeongguk released Jimin, throwing him an apologetic look before he turned back to the game. Jimin grumbled, “stupid treacherous best friend,” before he pulled on one of Jeongguk’s new sweatshirts, the one he had already claimed for himself. Then he swiftly went to search the kitchen for leftovers.
Half an hour later, sated and cheerful, Jimin skipped back to Jeongguk’s room, where he found his boyfriend still playing a game. He climbed onto the bed next to him, Jeongguk smiling at him before refocussing quickly. It seemed to be an intense round, because Jimin made his puppy face as he put his chin on Jeongguk’s shoulder, but he got no reaction whatsoever. Jimin pouted as Jeongguk continued to not pay him any attention, before deciding to do something about it. He just wanted to make out with his boyfriend after a long day, was that too much to ask for?
Jimin smirked as a plan formed and as soon as Jeongguk was waiting for the next round to start, he ducked under the other boy’s arms, crawling onto his lap, clinging onto him with his arms and legs, and putting his cheek on Jeongguk’s shoulder so he could still see him. Jeongguk only smiled slightly and moved his headset off his left ear so he could hear Jimin, would he want to talk, before continuing to kill the soldiers filling the screen.
That’s when Jimin leaned in and placed a soft kiss just below Jeongguk’s ear. He left a trail of kisses on his neck, down towards Jeongguk’s shoulder. Without warning, he pressed an open-mouthed kiss to his neck and sucked the skin between his teeth. Jeongguk jolted forward with surprise, making Jimin smirk against his skin. He pulled back, admiring the mark he left on the other’s skin, before leaning up and whispering in Jeongguk’s ear, “don’t you want to kiss me, Jeonggukkie?”
Jimin nipped at Jeongguk’s earlobe softly, not missing the shiver that followed, and pressed his lips to the spot right below Jeongguk’s ear. As he started sucking on that spot as well, tongue flicking out, he heard the controller drop to the floor as Jeongguk let out a soft groan. Victory.
It didn’t take long for Jeongguk to close the game and hang up on Tae, but by the time he turned them over, pinning Jimin to the bed, he had two new marks on his neck.
“Is this what you wanted?” Jeongguk asked as he leaned in, lips brushing against the shell of Jimin’s ear. Jimin nodded before he pulled Jeongguk in and pressed a kiss to his lips, whining loudly when the other boy pulled back slightly. Jeongguk’s fingers pulled at the hem of the sweatshirt Jimin was wearing, before pushing the fabric up and running his fingers over Jimin’s stomach.
“Pay back time,” Jeongguk said before pressing his lips to Jimin’s neck.
