Denki Kaminari was quite a popular kid. Despite having so much power by being popular, he was kind to everyone. He always helped people through hard times of their lives. But something nobody knew, is that he was going through a very hard time in his own life.
Kaminari recently began hanging out with someone that nobody really talked to, Hitoshi Shinsou.
Kaminari ran over to Shinsou, putting his arm around him.
" Hey dude! What's up? "
Shinsou jumped, not expecting the sudden noise. He had hung out with Kaminari before, but he still questions why Kaminari chooses to talk to him. Shinsou looked over at Kaminari. Deep down he was excited to see him, but his words always sounded depressing because of his deep and quiet voice. “Oh hey Kaminari”
" Wanna hang out tomorrow after school? I would hang out with you today but I'm busy "
Kaminari asked, having a bright smile on his face.
But little did he know, Kaminari wouldn't be able to hang out with his friends for a while. “Uh sure” Shinsou replied, still surprised Kaminari would want to do such a thing with him.
" Well, I'll see you at school tomorrow Toshi! "
Kaminari replied, giving Shinsou finger guns and a wink before running off to get home.
Soon enough, the next school day came by. But Kaminari wasn't there, which was very strange for him.
The day Kaminari was absent, Shinsou spent almost every hour stressing out about it. He never stresses out, only because he keeps himself away from stressful things. Before he knew it, his parents had sent him to a mental hospital. This was the last place he wanted to be. Shinsou hated being there, but several times he saw a familiar face. When he had the free time, he walked up to the yellow haired boy he thought he knew. “Kaminari?”
Kaminari was sent the day he attempted to cut his life short. He didn't know why he was so upset, but he hated it. It was probably because of his past trauma, but he thought he was over that.
Kaminari flinched a bit from his name being called. He wasn't used to being talked to, since he's been at this place for a week. He quickly turned around, and his eyes widened at the sight.
" Shinsou! "
He exclaimed, immediately brightening up. He wrapped his hands around Shinsou, seeming a bit happier than before.
Shinsou was happy to see a face he knew, since over half of the people there were complete strangers with mental issues, but he didn’t show it. He scanned Kaminari, looking for a visitors pass. “You don’t have a visitors pass...why are you here?”
Kaminari sighed at that question, his mood immediately changing. He grabbed Shinsou's arm pulling him closer.
" I attempted to end my life, and failed. I'm not going into detail. "
Kaminari whispered, knowing he'd get in trouble if the nurses heard him talk about that topic. He let go of Shinsou's arm, glancing away from him.
Shinsou’s eyes widened, he was completely unaware of the fact that Kaminari would want to kill himself. He always seemed so cheerful all the time, until now. It almost made him want to cry, but he held it back. Shinsou looked at Kaminari, and didn’t see him as the same ray of sunshine that he saw before. He looked around for any nurses, and they all seemed to be dealing with other patients. Shinsou looked back at Kaminari and immediately started to tear up. He quickly realized he was crying and covered his eyes and looked down.
Kaminari stood there in silence until he saw Shinsou begin to cry.
" O-Oh! I'm sorry I didn't mean to make you cry! "
Kaminari said quickly, feeling extremely bad.
" C'mon. I know where your room is. Luckily, we're roommates. One of the nurses informed me I'd be having a roommate soon and.. I'm glad it's you. "
Kaminari said, gently grabbing Shinsou's hand and beginning to walk to their room. Once he got there, he felt a bit awkward because he didn't know what to do with the crying Shinsou.
" Do you uh.... Want a hug? "
“No I’m fine” He said, completely lying. All he wanted was a hug and Kaminari to be alright. But, he wasn’t doing so good himself.
"... I can tell you're lying. I've been around lying people for awhile now so it's easy to find one. "
Kaminari replied, hugging Shinsou.
" If you don't mind me asking, why are you here? You don't have to answer it! I don't even think I'm allowed to ask it- "
Kaminari said with a small laugh at the end of his sentence.
" Speaking of that, soon I gotta tell you a few rules and tips about that place that I found out this week. "
Shinsou looked down. “It’s not that I don’t wanna tell you how I got here...it’s just..depressing to think about” he said as he sat down on the nearby bed. “My quirk is...not exactly the hero type...and people have been bullying me about since elementary school. I’ve never really had any friends until I met you..and when you disappeared that one day I thought it was because of me. I thought you started to ignore me because you were afraid I would do something to you with my dumb mind control quirk. Since that day I got so stressed about it that I didn’t go to school either and....well..I let the bad thoughts take control of me. Then when my younger sister came in one day...I...I was so stressed that-....I used my quirk on her and tried to make her kill herself” Shinsou said and started to cry again. “My mother was so mad she sent me to this place...and she disowned me” he said.
Kaminari immediately hugged him again, stuffing his face into Shinsou's shoulder.
" Listen here, Toshi.. You have one of the most cool and heroic quirks I've ever seen! My family disowned me too, but that was a few years ago. You can live with me and my dads once we get out of here. They adopted me and they're super accepting! And I know you're upset, and it'll hopefully get better soon. "
Kaminari said, trying his best to make Shinsou feel better.
" And I know this is a really stupid time to say this, but we have to go to lunch now because we'll get in trouble if we skip it. I tried to skip on my first day and that shit did not go well. At all- "
Shinsou wiped his tears and sniffed. “Yeah I’m kinda hungry..” he said.
" Same- "
Kaminari said, standing up and beginning to walk to the cafeteria.
" It's very hard to sleep in this place. Every 5 minutes they come to your room to check on you. Then at 6:30 they fucking bust into your room and wake you up so they can do stuff like draw your blood or whatever. "
Kaminari said, sitting down at one of the tables.
" One good thing about this place is that you don't have to wait in a line to get your food. You just get handed your food because they have certain food plans for everyone. That's mostly for the people with eating disorders, but they decided to do that for everyone I guess. And you don't get to go in the bathroom until 30 minutes after you ate, which sucks. I get why they do it, but it sucks. "
Shinsou followed Kaminari to the table and sat down next to him. “So were those all of the tips and rules you were talking about or are there more?”
" Oh there's more, I'm just tired of talking about the boring rules. "
Kaminari said, beginning to eat once he got his food.
" Now to tell you about the people! "
Kaminari said with a small smile.
" Ms. Rita, she's the nicest nurse here. Atleast I think she is, she's the one that checks on me and draws my blood. She actually laughs at my jokes, unlike the other nurses. Then there's Jasmin, she's extremely violent and she tried to stab me with a marker. She's also stupid- "
Kaminari said, laughing a little.
" Mrs. Smith is very rude. She yelled at me because I didn't eat the sauce from my lasagna. That sauce was terrible- She also put me in this quiet and empty room because I told her a ' triggering joke'
It was about a blind person running into a pole! It wasn't even triggering "
Kaminari said, angrily taking a bite of his spaghetti.
“Oh..well thanks for warning me. Although I don’t think any of them will be a problem for me since I barely talk to anyone” Shinsou said, as he looked around in his spaghetti, making sure there wasn’t any poison. The last time he had eaten a meal there he had a stomach problem for hours.
Kaminari always had trouble finishing meals. It either ended in his throwing up, or him just losing interest and stopping. But he wasn't allowed to throw it up or stop here, because he wasn't allowed. He just ate his meal quickly, seeming a bit uncomfortable afterwards. He just wasn't used to it.
" We're you told when you're going to get let out of the mental hospital? "
Kaminari asked, wanting to see if they would get out at similar times.
“No...maybe when I stop stressing out about my problems and stuff...” Shinsou said, leaving out a few things he had on his mind. He didn’t like keeping secrets, but he didn’t like telling them either. He ate the last few bites of his meal as he finished talking, and then moved his plate a few inches away from him.
Kaminari was extremely uncomfortable at this point. His stomach wasn't used to full meals yet and he didn't like it. He let out a quiet whine, hugging his legs to his chest.
" I'm not used to eating this much yet "
Kaminari said to Shinsou, a bit embarrassed.
" I-I've never been forced to eat, so this is just different. "
Kaminari said, leaning against Shinsou. He was usually a sparkly ray of sunshine, but now he was different.
Shinsou was a blushing disaster. He tried to stop, but he had never had someone lean against him, and it was the worst time. He was concerned about Kaminari but was too embarrassed to do anything. “Y-Yeah I h-haven’t e-either” Shinsou managed to say.
Kaminari was crying a bit at this point, but he laughed a bit at Shinsou's blushing face. He hugged Shinsou's arm, knowing Shinsou would blush even more. His eyes explored around the cafeteria a little until they landed on a clock.
" Oh, it's almost quiet time "
Kaminari managed to say.
“Oh thank the lords” Shinsou said, still blushing uncontrollably, and a bit more than he was before. He figured he was being too shy, so he looked around for the nurses, which were currently dealing with someone. When he confirmed there were no nurses watching them, he rubbed the top of Kaminari’s head. He had wanted to do that for so long. He learned two important things. 1: He’s in love with Denki Kaminari. And 2: Denki Kaminari is short and cute like a cat.
" Pft- You're adorable "
Kaminari commented, having a small smile on. Once Shinsou began to rub his head, he immediately perked up. Nobody has rubbed the top of his head before, and he LOVED it. He smiled more than before, melting into Shinsou's touch.
Shinsou laughed, but like that hot deep laugh that guys do. He continued rubbing his head and perked up when an announcement came on in the speakers. The lady in the speakers announced that it was now quiet time, and everyone had to stay quiet. She also mentioned that patients with less severe mental health issues can go back to their rooms with their roommates. Shinsou sighed with relief, the room they were in at the moment was very noisy, and he could barely hear what the girl even said.
(Headcannon that Shinsou has a deep voice like Corpse. Keep that in mind)
Now the one that was a blushing mess was Kaminari, because DAMN THAT LAUGH WAS HOT.
He was now just fangirl giggling, but he was trying to be quiet so he wouldn't get in trouble.
He began to walk to their room, still being a blushie and gigglie mess.
Shinsou walked to the room with Kaminari, smiling to himself every time Kaminari giggled. He opened the door for Kaminari and after he walked in Shinsou walked in as well and shut the door behind him. “So...now that we’re alone together...wanna...play a game?” He said, jokingly making it sound like he was gonna say something else.
Kaminari was even more of a blushie mess, if that was even possible at this point.
" Stahhhhp- You're gonna kill meeee- "
Kaminari said, hiding his face with his hands.
Shinsou did the hot laugh again. “What’s wrong with being a little flirty now and then? Heh heh” he said, smiling. “But also, you didn’t answer my question.”
Kaminari did a little fangirl squeal over THE HOT LAUGH.
" Fine, sure, yeah- What's the game? "
Kaminari said quickly, his face still hiding in his hands.
“Hmmm...I don’t know..maybe truth or dare?” Shinsou said, blushing a bit from how cute the little fangirl Kaminari was.
" Sure- "
Kaminari said, plopping down onto the floor. He uncovered his face, but he was still a big ol' blushie mess. That blush probably wasn't going to go away for awhile.
" Who's gonna go first? "
