"James Buchanan Barnes!!" you groaned. "Stop doing that."
Every time, every single time, you leave your phone unattended and Bucky takes it, he changes things on it. He likes changing your ringtone to something embarrassing or annoying. He also gets a kick out of changing the names of your contacts, and it was all Sam's fault since he's the one who taught Bucky how to do it in the first place. He changed Tony's name to Coca-Cola can, Rhodey's to Trashcan and T'challa's to Michelin Car Tires. Now his thing is changing your wallpaper.
The first time you noticed he'd chosen a picture you took, a 'booger check' selfie. Immediately thereafter you made sure not to keep any more embarrassing pictures on your phone. That slowed him down a bit, but not completely. He would still check your phone for embarrassing pictures and when he would come up empty he'd just take one in the spot. Sometimes it was a picture of your face other times it was him making silly faces.
But today was different, because today when Bucky picked up your phone and saw your wallpaper his heart fluttered a bit weirdly in his chest. The wallpaper was a picture of the two of you at Sam's neighborhood cookout in Delacroix. "I'm not doing anything, Y/N." Bucky said as he stared at the screen. Bucky remembered this day perfectly.
It was the day you met.
Sam took this picture. You and Bucky sat at the table on the pier with Cass and AJ, Sam's nephews. You both smiled widely at the camera while Cass and AJ plotted how to get you two to 'get together'.
Bucky didn't have the heart to change the wallpaper. You two looked good in the picture, like a couple. It also happens to be the only picture you two have together.
"How come we don't have more pictures together?" He almost sounds sad. "Come here, let's take one so you can make it your new wallpaper."
You take a seat beside him on the couch. Bucky throws his arm around your shoulder, his hand cupping your upper arm. He hands you back the phone so you can take the picture. You smile, and when you're about to take the picture Bucky plants his lips on your cheek. And this picture is your new wallpaper for months to come.
He doesn't steal your phone again after that.
