There was nothing pretty about war, nothing fair in a fight of this magnitude. The fire nation was out of control, out for blood and they would stop at nothing to 'Share their greatness with the world.' In an attempt to quell any possible uprisings from the other nations, the monks had decided it was best if Aang played his part, what was that part?

Chapter Text

There was nothing pretty about war, nothing fair in a fight of this magnitude. The fire nation was out of control, out for blood and they would stop at nothing to 'Share their greatness with the world.' In an attempt to quell any possible uprisings from the other nations, the monks decided it was best if Aang played his part, what was that part?

“But I don’t even know the fire lord’s son, why would I marry him?”

“To keep the peace.”

“Does he even want that?”

“It doesn’t matter what he wants.”

“Of course it does.”

“No, it doesn’t.”

“What about what I want?”

“I’m afraid you’ll just have to play the part.”

“What about training?”

“Maybe you can talk the fire lord’s son into it?”

“Do you really think he’d sway from what his father wants?”

“I think he’s more likely to than his sister is, that’s for sure.”

Aang shook his head, running his hands over his face with an exasperated sigh.

“So, what? That’s it? You’re just gonna hand me off to them? Do I even get to take anything?”

“They agreed to let you take what you felt was most important to you.”

“My bison?”

“They’re not really equipped to take care of a sky bison, but if you’d like to take Appa, you can.”

Aang frowned.

“Would they hurt him?”

“I’m not sure.”

“This isn’t even fair.”

“Nothing is fair in war Aang, we have to try to keep the peace. Maybe if we get you on the inside, you can change things.”

“Right, the only thing this arrangement is going to do, is keep my people safe.” Aang furrowed his brow in thought. “That’s why I'm doing it.”

Aang paced his room in thought.

“Are you nervous?”

“Do they know?” Aang asked. “About my status?”

“As the Avatar? Or as an Omega?”

Aang shrugged. “Both.”

“Yes..”

Aang chewed the inside of his lower lip.

“I’m not gonna have to…” He paused.

“Have to?”

“Sleep with him?”

“I’m not sure.”

“Do you think he’d…”

“Prince Zuko? No, I think he’s hot headed, but I don't think he’s aggressive in that way.”

“How long do I have until they come for me?”

“A few days.”

A few days to get his things in order, to formulate some kind of plan for if this arrangement were to go south. Aang was smart, he was quick, he’d figure something out.

“Oh and Aang?”

“Hm?”

“Play nice.”

Aang nodded slowly. “Only if they do.”

Gyatso gave his boy a look, he had fought for Aang, but at the end of the day he was outnumbered and they didn’t have much of a choice.
