Summary:

SNF Week Day 1 : Accidental Cuddling / Sharing a Bed. 2.9K

Work Text:

George groans, tapping his fingers on the steering wheel and Sapnap whines. George has decided that this is one of the worst possible outcomes of his trip to Universal with his best friend. They had left their shared home hours before- and they knew the trip to their hotel would be a long one- yet here they are, in Sapnap’s car, grumbling over George’s GPS that says they won't be able to make it until after 12 A.M. George blames the heavy traffic and the lengthy trip for how long they're taking, but this doesn't stop him from telling Sapnap it's all his fault for the sudden stop they’d made to get ice cream halfway through their trip- Sapnap had gotten mint chocolate ice cream and wouldn't stop moaning over the deliciousness of the treat. George had called Sapnap disgusting though it took much resilience to not kiss the boy silly.

“It’s not my fault, Georgie! I didnt cause that damn car accident or stupid traffic, I just wanted some fucking icecream! I was starving.” Sapnap’s words drawl in a drawn out whine as he tries his best to focus on the road and defend his honor at the same time.
George smiles against his will and takes in the sight of his flustered friend. In honor of their little trip, Sapnap decided to wear Georges merch and specifically chose a black one in its biggest size. George pretended he didn't care when Sapnap showed him. It took all of his impulse control to not tell him he wished he’d wear it more.

George gives him a small push with one hand. “Yeah whatever, shut it nimrod. Just, what are we supposed to do now?”
“We could try one of those rest stops?”
George huffs and rolls his eyes, “As if.”
“Then what do you reckon we should do, darling?” Sapnap puts an extra emphasis on the pet name and attempts to mimic George's accent. George blushes, bouncing his left leg up and down slightly ,and shifts his focus to outside of the car. He's only to be met with a dimly lit highway and a long line of cars trailing ahead of them.
“It’s too dark to use the signs ahead, but maybe there's an Inn or Motel nearby? We’ll just have to call our hotel and cancel our reservation.” Sapnap nods,
“Alrighty! Can you find one and call after? I’m a little busy at the moment, Gogy.”

George grumbles and begrudgingly agrees.
Sapnap tells him to link his spotify to the radio so they can stream Dream’s music, which he angrily does while he keeps one eye on the road before telling Sapnap to search on google for the nearest motel. Sapnap badly sings along to the tune and George quietly joins him, too tired to be frustrated with his younger friend.
Once he finds a new destination, he cuts off the music and interrupts their singing with a happy exclamation

“Hey! What the fuck George.”
“Shhh, I found a place,” He shoves his phone in Sapnap’s face,
“Memorize the first couple of directions so I can call the hotel in peace!”
Sapnap smiles softly and plucks George's phone from his hands. He spends a minute or so studying the directions as George stares absentmindedly into his lap and twiddles his thumbs.
Sapnap mumbles to himself and then throws the phone onto his friend’s lap. George fumbles with the thing for a second, momentarily surprised. Sapnap just grins and turns his focus to the road once again, mumbling the given directions to himself while George busies himself and calls the hotel.

When he’s done, Sapnap has George turn on the music again and the pair sing along for the remainder of the ride. To their luck, it only takes around 30 minutes (not that either of them would mind if the trip took a bit longer).
“Finally,” George sighs, feigning relief once they reach the motel.
Sapnap sighs softly to himself and turns to him with a slight grin,
“Help me get our shit, Georgie.”
The older one rolls his eyes but nods softly. Sapnap turns the car’s engine off and pats George’s leg lightly before exiting the car. The latter can't help but blush at the small action and he has to take a moment to recollect himself before joining Sapnap at the trunk of the car. A small bit of dread weighs on his mind.

Sapnap doesn't hesitate to swing open the entrance doors to the hotel once they've gathered all of their belongings, though he struggles to, as both of his hands are occupied with holding bags. George trails behind him and can't help but see his friend as an excited puppy running on low energy, and a part of him struggles to stop himself from aweing at the thought. Unsurprisingly, the brown-haired boy turns out to be shy when at the front desk buying rooms for the both of them, and beckons George over, who did not want to stand around with his bags and took a seat next to the entrance doors.

He sighs but obeys and leaves his bags at the hard chair he was slumped in and takes place next to Sapnap, “What do you need?”
The man standing behind the front desk interrupts a nervous and flushed face Sapnap, and George fights the urge to try and make his face a redder shade.
“Hi sir, i was just telling your partner here that we only have one room available for tonight. “ George decides to not comment on the usage of the word partner to refer to his friend and Sapnap seems to be too nervous to either. He reminds George of a deer caught in headlights.
“We can deal with that,” the older man turns to Sapnap and asks, “Is that all, what’s the issue?”
His friend is once again interrupted by the receptionist, “Well, the problem here is that the room only has one bed, and since it's small it doesn't have a futon. I didn't think this would be a problem but your partner suggested otherwise.”

George’s face betrays him and flushes, arguably a redder color than Sapnap’s. He should have expected this and he feels silly for reacting the same way as his “partner”. His mind races and his heart pounds and silence falls upon the room. George wonders if the night could go any worse. He can't help but think of numerous ways it could.
“Uhm.. Sir?” The receptionist pulls George out of his head and he forces himself to respond,
“That should be fine. Can we just get the room key now?” His voice is deeper and softer than he thought and he can feel Sapnap shudder next to him. The man nods and hands him a card, giving explicit directions to the location of the room. Luckily the motel is small and the duo find it quickly.

Sapnap does not utter a word to George even as they settle in their room and definitely not as they change into more suitable night clothes. George can't bring himself to fill the silence or face Sapnap and instead silently dwells on his current situation. He knows he and Sapnap are best friends and he knows Sapnap has promised he and George would cuddle once he came to Florida but he never lived up to it. George thinks he’s a coward -not that he is any better- and wonders if tonight will finally be the night that they do. He can't decide if he wants it to happen or not. He gets on the singular bed with an open mind.
George lays his head on their shared bed before Sapnap does, not even bothering to untuck the covers and wrap them around him. He feels frozen in place, legs straight and arms resting on his stomach and his heart pounds. He stays in place for a couple of minutes but anxiety and curiosity get the best of him and he turns his head slightly to the left to figure out why Sapnap has taken so long to join him in bed.

He finds the younger adult just standing on the left side of the bed, silent and eyebrows furrowed while staring at George. George’s face flushes and he sits up quickly, crossing his legs and facing Sapnap. He decides he’ll be the one to break the silence.
“What is up with you,” Sapnap looks as if he’s just been snapped out of a trance and looks away. George notices a light blush on his cheeks and he soaks in the image of his nervous friend.
“Just come lay down asshole, it's late.” Sapnap squeezes his eyes shut and reopens them to sit on the edge of the bed, never bothering to look George in the face. Neither of them bothered to turn off the light either but neither of them seem to care.

George sighs, frustrated, “Look, this doesn't have to be weird, okay? Let’s just try and get comfortable at least.”
Sapnap’s demeanor seems to change and he faces George, flashing him a small smile, “Whatever you say, Georgie.” George can't help but groan.
The pair remain silent once again as they wiggle under the covers and try to get comfortable, but they soon come to realize the bed is smaller than anticipated and their shoulders brush as they stare at the ceiling side by side.
This time Sapnap sighs softly and turns to face the wall, placing his hands under his pillow and curling his knees inwards. George debates with himself for a while, unsure if he should turn the other way and deal with the little space he and Sapnap have between each other or risk it all and wrap his hands around his friend.
“Fuck it,” he mumbles to himself softly. And with that he takes a metaphorical leap- George shifts on his side and throws his left arm on Sapnap’s body.

Sapnap shudders, “George..?”
“Shut up, we were practically cuddling anyways,” the older man places his right arm behind Sapnap’s head and nervously runs his hands through his friend's soft and long hair. He feels awkward and grips the fabric of Sapnap’s crewneck, clutching it roughly. George can feel his hands starting to sweat as he takes another risk and nudges his bent knee between Sapnap’s thighs.
His whole face and neck are a bright red at this point and his heart heavily pounds in his chest.
George softly mumbles, “Is this okay..?” Sapnap squeaks in response and he thinks about how red the younger boy must look right now, he wonders how much more tinted his cheeks can become.

At this point George knows there’s no returning from this point and decides to push his luck even further. He moves closer to Sapnap and lightly shoves his face into his friend's neck, nuzzling it softly.
“George,” Sapnap exclaims and George grins, betraying the nervousness that’s eating away at his mind. “George, what the hell are you doing?” Despite his words, no venom or discomfort is found in his tone. Still, Sapnap throws George’s hand off of him and awkwardly turns on his left side to face George, detangling the pair's legs but neglecting to remove his friend's hand from his hair.
Their positions are awkward and uncomfortable but neither of them bother to shift to make it better.
George's eyebrows furrow, “Why’d you move, idiot.”

He was right, Sapnap is as red as a tomato and he softly smiles at the sight. Sapnap does not utter a word and George attempts to gauge how he’s feeling by studying his face. Despite himself, his gaze lingers on Sapnaps eyes a little longer than intended. His eyebrows are slightly raised and he looks a bit shocked, a little nervous and if George’s eyes aren't deceiving him, he swears Sapnap looks somewhat starstruck. His lips are slightly pouting and the ravenette can't help but wonder what’s going on in his pretty friend’s mind.
“Why are you looking at me like that, dumbass.”

And before George can register what’s happening, lips are smushed against his own and the collar of his gray shirt is being tugged towards Sapnap’s chest. His heart stops and he’s afraid he’s going to burst from shock. Sapnap’s lips are soft and though the kiss feels juvenile, George aches for more contact once Sapnap pulls away. His friend is as red as George suspects he’ll ever be and his eyes are wide. His hands fly to cover his face and he seems to be even more shocked than George, who’s frozen in place. The silence is deafening between the two but neither of them are ready to talk.

George curses inwardly to himself and he takes a good five minutes, just laying there and staring at his friend, hoping that what he’s about to do will be the last risk he’ll have to take for a long time. His palms are sweaty and he can feel himself slightly tremble but he still reaches out and places a clammy hand on Sapnap’s pale wrist.
“Sap… look at me,” his crush obeys and peeks at George from behind his hands. George gives him a weak but reassuring smile, “I like you. Or maybe love, I'm unsure.” That was a lie, George knows he loves Sapnap, he doesn’t know how he couldn’t.
Sapnap’s eyes go wider than George thought was possible, “Holy shit,” he breathes out.

Sapnap doesn't say anything further than that and George tries his best not to panic. He removes his hands and brings it to his chest, squeezing his fingers. His mind goes a mile per second but he doesn't push Sapnap, deciding to give him time to gain the confidence to respond. After a excruciatingly long five minutes of the pair just staring at each other, Sapnap finally speaks up, his voice meek and wavering,
“You too- I mean, I like you too. Or maybe love, depends.”

George is certain he’s never felt happier, his chest hurts, but in a way he hopes he feels for many more years to come. The only thing that could make this moment more perfect is if Sapnap was wearing merch, George decides. He also decides that he doesn't want the overwhelming joy that's consuming him to go to waste and with a large grin he smashes his lips against Sapnap’s. He can feel Sapnap smile into their kiss and George impulsively sticks his tongue into his mouth. He needs to have all of his friend and his brain is too fried to consider how this will all pan out. Tonight, Sapnap is all he cares about. This kiss is all he wants. It certainly isn't the best, seeing as they are both inexperienced and nervous, but George doesn't mind. The strange but warm feeling accompanied with being able to do what he's wanted for ages, is enough.

After a minute of the pair trying to figure out how to make their lips mesh, Sapnap pulls away and George’s head feels dizzy. George’s tongue hangs out his mouth and they both pant softly and stare into eachothers eyes once again,
“You’re so… God.”
The mess of a lovesick man shuts his eyes and doesn't bother to comment. He can feel Sapnap shove him onto his back and he opens his eyes to observe his partner. George watches as Sapnap throws a leg on the other side of George and as he hovers over his lap. The ravenette raises his knees and lets Sapnap squirm on him and grab his wrists that were sprawled on their pillows. Sapnap places them above George’s hands and it doesn't seem like he plans to let go. George wonders where Sapnap got all the courage to initiate the suggestive position.

“Just kiss me already, Sap.”
Sapnap grins and George's heart squeezes, “Say please, baby.”
He rolls his eyes but compiles, “Please.” George makes a mental note to get payback later.
Sapnap, who seems to want this as badly as George does, rushes to kiss once again.
Their noses brush and Sapnap tilts his head, causing George to open his mouth once away, at which he takes an invitation to stick his tongue in him. George's eyes are half opened, wanting to soak in the image of his crush on top of him and he swears he might just faint from how hot Sapnap is and how light headed he feels. The older man feels amazing and overwhelming desire consumes him. He aggressively licks at Sapnap’s tongue and the younger tries to battle him for dominance- George is unsure if either of them will ever be able to gain full control.

Sapnap gasps into the kiss when George’s teeth lightly clamp down and meet with his tongue. George uses his shock as an opportunity to wriggle his wrists out of Sapnap’s grasp and quickly places them on his thighs instead. His lover shudders at the touch and moves his hands to lift George's shirt up slightly and place his warm hands on his abdomen. George shivers.
Sapnap interrupts their kiss and George groans, only for the former to slowly start to pepper harsh kisses on his cheeks. His hands rub his stomach and George inches his hands up to Sapnap’s own stomach, keeping them over the cloth.

As the man George has been pining after for years shifts in his lap and moves his head down to his neck, George decides that he was wrong. This is the best possible outcome of this whole damn trip.
