The sound of Loki placing the card rather too aggressively on the table could be heard by the tables around them in the cafeteria.
Mobius laughs, telling him to not get too worked up over a card game. Cards Against Humanity . There was a pack lying around in one of the timelines they visited about a day or two ago and Mobius, being curious about it, snuck it into one of the inner pockets of his blazer before resetting the timeline.
While the game recommends two or more people, there wasn’t much they could do because people in the TVA took their free time seriously. Casey was an option, Loki thought of asking him to join but he actually hasn’t seen said acquaintance for some time. To be precise, at least three days or so. Probably busy being responsible or something within those lines.
It was when Mobius stopped laughing and tapped on the table that brought Loki out of his thoughts.
“You wanna tell me something?” The agent asks him, pointing to the card that Loki used as his answer to the blank space in the sentence on the black card. Lovin’ you is easy ‘cause you’re _______. Loki wasn’t comprehending anything. He who was a god, someone who has managed to fake his death multiple times, a being who laid waste to others getting in the way, was stumped by a fucking sentence from a card game.
Mobius laughs again. “I was joking! It’s probably not even in the romantic sense but hey, I have confirmation that you love me in some way because I’m me.” The teasing lilt in his voice was a bad move on the agent’s part. It only exacerbated the internal chaos already broiling in Loki. But if he was being honest, he hasn’t felt this way with anyone ever.
“You got a favourite place within the TVA or a particular timeline?” Loki changes the subject.
He places his bet on this. He’s seen what love has done to the people around him firsthand. It’s embarrassing to think that he told Black Widow about that line with bargaining for one man and now look at him. Should anything undesirable happen, he’d do that too. He’d risk the balance of the world for Mobius.
Hopefully, he earns the blond man’s affection as well.
“Why?”
“I’d like to take you out on a date there. When there’s time.” A smile forms on his face and he’s amused because Mobius mirrors what he’s feeling through a simple reply. “Bring me to the timeline you came from then.”
