Chapter Text
It’s half past midnight when Miyuki hears a quiet knocking at his door, and while he knows who it is perfectly well, he still calls out:
“Who is it?”
The voice that responds is soft, so soft that he can’t make out the words. So instead he gets up and opens the door. Reon stares at him, gripping his hands together tightly.
“...I had a nightmare.” he mumbles finally. “it’s stupid, I know, but I don’t… wanna be alone.”
It seems like it’s always nighttime when this part of Reon comes out, the subdued side that makes Miyuki want to comfort him until he can't stand it anymore. He pulls Reon into his arms and pats his head.
“It’s not stupid,” he soothes. “You’re always welcome to come in, alright?”
He feels Reon’s grip on his shirt tighten.
“Thanks.” he whispers.
Miyuki holds Reon until he falls asleep, and it’s as he’s pulling the blankets over them both that the younger boy lets out a sleepy-sounding mumble and curls into Miyuki’s chest. It gives him a warm feeling.
He presses a kiss to Reon’s forehead.
“Sleep tight, Reon-kun.”
