Chan stepped from the bathroom, his arms crossed over his chest and his face a bright red blush. The instant Felix saw him he was being charged at, his arms being pulled away from his chest, and his biceps being squeezed.
“This is way too tight,” Chan complained, plucking at a piece of fabric that molded around his arms.
“You look hot, shut up,” Felix said, his hands still massaging Chan’s biceps. “Where’s your mask thingy?”
Chan shook his head pleadingly but Felix just sighed and disappeared into the bathroom, coming back with a blue eye mask/hat thing. Chan tried to deny him but his boyfriend pouted and Chan couldn’t say no to that sad expression.
“See, it’s not that bad,” Felix said, adjusting the tight material so it lined up with Chan’s eyes and nose. “You’re such a pretty Captain America.”
“Prettier than the original?” Chan tried.
Felix scoffed. “Hurry and get your shield and shoes while I get ready. This is gonna be so much fun!”
Chan didn't exactly see how dressing up as other people was fun, but he knew it would make his boyfriend happy, so instead of arguing, he gave Felix’s nose a kiss and left to find where he had left his shield.
When Felix left the bathroom he was dressed in a red and black suit that was just as tight as Chan’s was. Chan wondered what it was about superheroes wearing skin-tight clothes and masks that would leave wrinkles on their cheeks.
“Look, I’m Deadpool!” Felix said excitedly, and Chan was sure he had a bright smile under his mask.
“You are,” Chan said, giving his boyfriend a smile before going back to tying his shoes. “So what’s the point of conventions anyways?”
Felix tossed some ugly boots to Chan for him to wear before sitting down and putting on his own shoes. “It’s just fun. There’s a lot of people and basically you just… pose and take pictures and make friends. And there’s also panels.”
“Panels?”
Felix nodded. “People cosplay and like… act things out? A lot of the time they play games.”
“That sounds cool,” Chan said. He was still a bit confused but he was sure it’d end okay.
Felix grabbed two sword props and made sure Chan got his shield before leading him out of their apartment and to where Chan’s car was parked. Chan got in the driver’s seat. “So what’s the address?”
“We’re picking up Hyunjin first,” Felix said, as if Chan should have already known that.
“We are?” Chan asked. He didn’t remember Felix telling him that.
Felix rolled his eyes. “Whatever, you have the memory of a goldfish. He’s cosplaying as Loki.”
“Loki, right,” Chan said, starting the car.
“You seriously don’t remember who Loki is?” Felix gasped, turning in his seat to meet Chan's eyes. “There was a whole movie about him.”
“Which movie?” Chan asked, trying to remember. He had binge-watched the Marvel movies with his boyfriend before but he honestly could only remember details from Spiderman.
“You can’t be serious,” Felix scoffed. “I’ll let you remember it on your own.”
Cahn shrugged as if it didn’t bother him, but little did Felix know, Chan would be trying to remember who Loki was for the next few hours.
When Hyunjin got into the car Chan was surprised to see he had his brown hair combed backwards and was wearing some sort of black, green, and gold costume. Felix greeted him excitedly and moved into the backseat to giggle with him about something Chan didn’t understand.
Chan drummed his fingers on the steering wheel and followed the directions to the convention. It was only about 30 minutes away so he didn’t have to suffer from third-wheeling for too long.
When Chan parked the car, Hyunjin and Felix rushed out and grabbed their props, holding hands and jumping up and down together while Chan was forced to grab their three (heavy) backpacks and make sure they left nothing in the car.
“So how does this work?” Chan asked, noticing a teenage girl who was very obviously staring at his muscles. He shuffled nervously.
“We already paid online so we just go in through the front gate and go have fun!” Felix said, already starting to drag the two of them towards the front.
Past the gate was a large opening between two tall buildings. Felix explained to him that some rooms in the buildings were hotel rooms while some were panels. As soon as they entered, Hyunjin ran off to go take a picture with some stranger. Chan figured this would be an easy way to get kidnapped.
It had barely been a minute but Chan had already caught people staring. He wondered if his cosplay didn’t lookl accurate; it would explain why so many eyes were on him, judging him. Chan crossed his arms in an attempt to hide himself.
Someone that Chan recognized as Captain Marvel ran up to him and asked for a picture, which greatly threw Chan off, but he agreed nonetheless.
Once she was gone, Chan turned to Felix. “Why did she want a picture?”
Felix let out a laugh and slid his hand into Chan’s. “You’re hot, that’s why. Everyone’s a simp for Captain America.”
Chan scoffed at his boyfriend’s antics. “Whatever. Will people ask you for pictures too?”
Felix shrugged, and Chan really wished he could see his boyfriend’s facial expression, but he couldn’t because of the mask. “Hopefully. Do you want them to?”
“I’m not sure,” Chan admitted, “It seems kinda creepy for people to have pictures of my boyfriend.”
“I have a mask on!” Felix said, nuzzling against Chan’s bicep as they continued walking. “I want people to take pictures of me so I’m gonna act like Deadpool, okay? You should act like Captain America, too; it’d be really cool.”
Cool? Chan watched Felix as he strutted confidently and waved to a few people; he tried to imagine how Captain America would act. So he puffed up his chest, stood tall, and followed his boyfriend, giving smiles to people he passed. Within no time people were coming up to him and asking for him to pose for pictures with them. People tended to ask him to show off his muscles, which at first Chan thought was weird, but he got used to it quickly.
Felix, on the other hand, was taking funny pictures with people, oftentimes talking with people about references and jokes that Chan could only sometimes understand. So many people had told Chan that he was their favorite Captain America that they’d seen all day, which would make Chan blush beneath his mask.
Chan saw some people he recognized, too; Spiderman, Thor, and an inflatable Hulk. People were swarming around the hulk, just begging for pictures and for him to say an iconic line.
Chan had expected for people to stop asking him for pictures while he was eating lunch, but for some reason people would still interrupt him for pictures and to make jokes that he semi understood. It was getting a bit much; he could barely take a bite of the sandwiches they had brought without getting interrupted.
The worst part about it all, was that everyone around them were eating in peace, and it was just him getting attention.
“Felix~” Chan whined, plopping down onto the grass. “Why do people love me?”
Felix cackled. “It’s because of your muscles. Putting you in a Captain America cosplay has been my best idea yet.”
Chan was about to retort when he got asked by someone if he could be in their vlog so he politely stood up while they spoke to the camera.
“Can we see Captain America’s ass?” The person asked, surprising Chan to the greatest extent.
But he didn’t have long to be in shock because suddenly Felix was spinning him around and slapping his ass.
The two of them laughed while Chan stood there, scandalized. Felix apologized by pulling his mask slightly up to press a messy kiss on Chan’s lips, and Chan forgave him instantly.
Once they had finished eating they got up again, and now that it was midday the convention was twice as filled with people that they had to weave their way through.
Which meant that twice as many people were taking pictures with Chan, absolutely draining all of his energy.
“Save me!” Chan cried out dramatically, falling into his boyfriend’s arms. Felix threw his head back and laughed.
“You’re so cute,” Felix said, hugging him tightly. “Wanna go watch a panel? People won’t ask you for pictures there.”
“Yes, please,” Chan whined out, because honestly that idea sounded great. Felix giggled and started pulling him away, until suddenly he was met with cold air instead of the stuffy air outside.
When he opened his. eyes they were in an almost-empty hallway and Felix was looking at his phone while leading him. “Hyunjin’s at a panel that starts in two minutes, wanna run?”
Chan did not want to run, but when his boyfriend called out, “Last one to room 56 is a rotten Hyunjin!” he took off, easily overcoming his boyfriend and counting the doors until they finally reached room 56.
They found seats next to Hyunjin and for the next hour cosplayers were asked questions that had everyone laughing. They also played the pocky game which he covered Felix’s eyes for.
After it ended people took pictures with the actors and a few stayed around to chitchat. Chan’s legs were sore from sitting so he stood up and stretched while his boyfriend and friend took some pictures.
“Are you ready to go home?” Felix asked Hyunjin. Chan hid behind Felix and nodded aggressively, signalling him to let them go home.
Hyunjin teased him a bit but agreed, and they (finally) got to go home. On the car ride Chan thought about how that was actually more fun than he’d thought it would be, and that he wouldn’t actually mind going again. When he dropped Hyunjin off at home he thanked them for inviting him and gave them both kisses on the cheeks.
Chan was so grateful to be back home. As soon as he’d unlocked the front door he was collapsing on the couch while Felix had gone to the bathroom to get into comfortable clothes. Chan wanted to change as well,, but his legs were aching too bad for him to get up.
When Felix came back into the living room and saw his boyfriend lounging across the couch he scolded him but helped Chan to get changed and to take off his eye makeup.
“Are you ready for sleep, babe?” Felix asked softly, moving his thumbs in soothing circles on Chan’s cheeks. Chan’s eyes fluttered closed.
“Do you think you could carry me?” Chan tried.
Felix giggled. “Absolutely not, but I’m sure you can walk a couple feet to our room.”
Chan opened his eyes just to roll them before closing them again. Felix started whining and tugging at his arm until Chan gave up and forced himself to get up and collapse on their bed instead of the couch.
Felix rolled into bed as well, turning on his fairy lights and helping Chan to get beneath the covers.
“Goodnight, Channie,” Felix whispered, snuggling up into Chan’s side.
“Goodnight, Felix,” Chan said.
Chan felt a kiss on his eyebrow. “I love you, Channie.”
Chan smirked; he had been waiting all day for this opportunity. He smugly turned to Felix and said, “I love you 3000.”
Felix immediately blushed but he rolled his eyes, saying, “Oh whatever, you don’t even know who says that.”
He had a point, so Chan just chuckled and helped his boyfriend to get comfortable again. He might not understand many Marvel (or was it DC? He was pretty sure it’s Marvel because of Captain Marvel, though. Anyways—) references, but he knew that he did, in fact, love Felix 3000. Maybe even more than that.
