Prelude: After Midnight Snow
It's one in the morning with below zero temps in Snowchester. Everything is quiet and still as snow dances through the gentle breeze, covering the ground and rooves of the nation that they had built. Only one light shines from one building in the nations capital town. Most citizens find themselves asleep or at least lying quietly in bed in the dark. All except for the First man, the President's Husband. He finds himself sitting up in the bed he shares with his beloved.. Tubbo, with the warm light of a reading lamp shining off of his pitch black skin..
His reading glasses are slipping down the bridge of his nose as he reads a rather interesting book that he's holding ever so delicately in his paws. It was a welcome gift from Techno after he joined the Syndicate. He regularly gathered books he discovered on his journeys with the them. He loved to share these books with his friends and family. This book in particular is titled: "The 33 Strategies of War" by Robert Greene. Ranboo himself isn't as inclined towards violence or even the notion of war, but his husband is quite the opposite. In fact, so much so that Ranboo is well aware of all the time he's spent in the secret underground lab. Or the time spent in the factory that he and Jack built to develop W.M.Ds under the guise of fuel refining.
Tubbo was fast asleep, his back to Ranboo, as his face was shielded from the light by Ranboo. Ranboo had made it about halfway through the book before deciding to put a bookmark in and shutting it. He preceded to set it on the night stand prior to turning off the lamp and slipping out of bed. He was very quiet and deliberate about every action, careful not to wake Tubbo as he got up. He slowly walked to the end of the room where Michael's crib was and looked down at the small child, his eyes glowing a bright green and red in the dark. The baby zombified piglin was sleeping peacefully, snuggling closely to his pet chicken, Benson.
With a gentle smile growing on his face as he reached down and gently pet their son atop his fluffy head, he decided to finally go to bed. After making his way back and laying down, covering himself and pressing his back to Tubbo's, he quickly falls asleep. He often times sleeps with his back to his husband as his lack of eyelids makes Tubbo uncomfortable when they're trying to sleep. It was nice, being able to sleep in peace with his family. He felt genuinely happy for the first time in awhile. As nice as it was though, something felt off. This quiet calm and the feeling of happiness.. It didn't feel right. Something horrible was looming over the lands. He could sense it. What horrible events were approaching, however, was unclear...
