You were right there with the 104th training corps when the second Colossal titan broke a wall for the second time. it was chaos, the scream of your fellow cadets and in the confusion you and Connie were separated. The feeling could only be described as pure horror. You were lucky to still be alive in the first place having caught yourself on the wall after being blown off unlike some and quickly you went further into the city to try and save the people, give them a warning, just something before it would be swarmed by titans.
Even if you tried it didn't work you couldn't stop the carnage and bloodshed and on top of that you couldn't find anyone not Eren or Jean or even Connie and it was terrifying. You tried using your gear as limited as possible running along the rooftops searching for your squad. Even with trying to limit using the equipment you were forced to dodging titan after titan but it seemed no matter how may you carved down 10 more would take its place and no amount of waring was enough for the people that lived in the city the faint screams of pain and the bloody carcasses covered the roads and walls. Your mind started to wander as you traversed the rooftops wondering, hoping, that Connie was okay that he didn't fall victim like so many others he was the only person left alive who you could truly call family, the only person you let in to your heart and the thought of losing him and living without him scared you more than getting eaten alive.
You came to a halt after hearing the ear shattering screech of a titan, it was so different from others you figured it was an abnormal and it needed to be dealt with quickly you had just barely enough fuel in you equipment to get to the source of the sound only to see Armin, Mikasa, and Connie being chased by a titan towards HQ, however upon a closer look it seemed like they were leading it and even more weirder this titan was attack other titans. He was throwing actual punches and attacking the weak points. You have seen a lot of weird stuff in your life but this has got to be weirdest. You were going to follow them from the looks of it they needed the help. Your heart dropped, Connie ran out of fuel mid-way through the air dropping from the safety from the air slamming into the ground in between the abnormal titan and a normal titan. You fell to your knees, your mouth was open but no noise escaped it, no this couldn't be how it ends, you didn't want to be alone. Titans have taken everything from you, your home, your family, they couldn't take this too they couldn't take Connie away.
You slammed your fist into the roof you sat on screaming in anger, no matter what you could do it would get you both killed. Another throat tearing scream belted from you. You would stop anyone from ever feeling this pain, the pain that could never be healed, you would protect the people, you would protect Connie.
Blinded by a flash of light you lost consciousness falling into a trance. on the outside it was a huge booming noise with you standing there or more accurately your titan form stood 15 meters tall, your skin was exposed muscle and sharp bones sticking out your back on your spine and arms. Teeth almost like a shark protruded from your mouth.
Roaring at the titan you burst into a sprint at it. Not even using your hands you open you mouth wide and snapping it down on the titans neck flinging it away. Standing your ground Connie was beneath you looking up, it had already been a weird day finding the one abnormal titan but to find another one that protected him? it was absolutely crazy, crazy turned scary however because you bent down reaching for Connie. He tried running away but you were quick and scooped him up in your hand. Connie was struggling to break from your grip screaming in fear, you turned towards Armin and Mikasa as the other abnormal titan ran after the other titans. Placing your hand on the roof you lay it open.
"Connie, are you okay?" Armin yelled running up to Connie yanking him from your hand.
"Uh yeah" he turned to look at you "Can't believe I just got saved by a titan, of all the things to happen today"
You and the other abnormal titan were fighting other titans mowing them down. Connie, Armin, and Mikasa started towards HQ leading you both. Fighting every titan that crosses your path. HQ was surrounded by titans, many that started turning towards you and the others, some had pushed their head into the wall of the building which the abnormal took care of. You again laid your hand down on the roof in front of Connie.
“Guys I think this thing wants me to get in it’s hand?” Connie looked up to meet your eyes.
Armin grabbed Connie's arm “What? Are you crazy, we can make it to HQ from here just fine Connie”.
“Just trust me on this okay” Yanking his arm from the tight grip, “It had the chance to kill me before when I was in it’s hand and it didn’t”.
Connie was nervous, of course he was, he was willingly walking into a titans hand on a gut feeling, Armin and Mikasa were standing to the side knowing there was no way to stop Connie without having to just pick him up and move him themselves. Taking a deep breath Connie steps into the open hand holding the finger for stability and tightly shutting his eyes waiting to see what you would, but nothing came.
He slowly opened his eyes he turned to face his friends with a stupid grin on his face “Guys look!” Gesturing for them to come closer “This thing can get us into HQ no problem”
Armin looked close to death staring at you but very reluctantly following Mikasa onto your hand. Slightly closing your fingers around the three to protect them you turned to see the abnormal titan hitting the titans of the building. Crawling up to the giant hole in the wall you level it with your hands letting them in.
“What is this?” Jean screamed standing back in horror at the realization that his friends were riding the hand of a titan “Mikasa what happened out there?”
“Look, we found some abnormals that have a bone to pick with their own kind and the best part is they won’t attack us” Connie responded back, turning to point out the hole showing the two abnormals fighting and defending the building “These big beautiful S.O.B’s are our tickets out of here!”
Jean looked dumbfounded “Listen to yourself a titans not going to help us, your out of your mind if-”
“Well it is working, for whatever reason these two titans are rampaging against its own kind and have willingly helped us so stand back and let them do it just trust me” Mikasa interrupted.
The deafening roars as blows were exchanged and blood splattered across the ground. There was little to help with the titans inside the building and any attempt at helping could do more damage. Eventually dozens of people started zipping around and escaping the building onto the roofs standing there watching the titans get slaughtered. When you saw Connie you grabbed the small titan attempting to eat your leg throwing him far from the area limping over to him. The rest of the squad got into a defense stance ready to fight you.
"No stop!" Jumping in front and holding his arms out "It's friendly it won't hurt you"
He turned to face you, you stared back slowly lifting your hand holding it up to Connie. Stretching out his own hand he held your finger. You turned to see the destruction done by your fighting and seeing the other titan pinned to a building. Though it seemed to do just fine because it escaped the haze of titans eating it to go after and sink its teeth into the neck of a specific titan.
Jean stepped forward "Connie I don't know if I should call you the smartest or the dumbest guy I've ever met" still on guard with you looking over them.
"Look I don't get it either and I know it's crazy but having two titans on our side fight for us saved all of us" looking down at his feet, it was a lot to take it, Connie didn't know that it was you, his partner, as this titan standing in front of him for all he knew you could be dead. Then having two abnormal titans helping them and one of the titans going out of it's way to keep him safe. There's a million things running through his head.
You pulled away, turning to kick a small titan away. You had ignored the titans clawing and chewing at your body and it was finally setting in that they would try to kill you. Thrashing around trying to throw them off. The shape exposed bones of your body being ripped off and mangled teeth sinking Into flesh. You responded back by using what little bone spines you had on your arms spinning around to slice the throats of the remaining titans, crushing their necks into the pavement. Just as the other abnormal titan fell hard to the ground. Twisting hard you looked back at Connie and closed your eyes letting yourself fall.
Everyone stood shocked, the major threat gone and now the titans that could have helped them were dead. Jean tried getting everyone to move to find others and get to safety. Mikasa looked down at the fallen titans, seeing movement in the necks. Jean tried pulling her away telling her they needed to leave. She shrugged his arm off and zipped down to the bodies in time to see her brother Eren burst from the neck very much alive. You were close behind practically clawing out from beneath the skin and gasping for air. Connie never thought he would move that fast in his life but in seconds he was by your side cradling your unconscious body. The relief that washed over him and Mikasa was immediate, scooping you up he pulled you both to the roofs with the others the same as Mikasa did with Eren. Nobody wanted to believe what they saw, the thought that people could be inside controlling a titan was insane, but here it was two of their comrades unconscious but very much alive that had been pulled out from the necks of titans. Nobody had the heart to pull them away or to say anything really, Mikasa and Connie were crying, tightly hugging their loved one and no one wanted to take that away from them.
“We need to get them out of here” Mikasa lifted Eren’s arm around her getting ready to drag him away.
“What, are you crazy? How do you plan to do that?” Jean stepped up giving them a reality check “Even if you managed to get over the wall what then, you’d have nowhere to go and there are still titans runnin around you’d die the second you’d get there”
“But what if we stay here? Who knows what would happen to them if we stayed” Connie held you closer to his chest.
Armin helped carry Eren and Connie did the best he could, which looked a lot more like dragging. Jean stood there weighing his options. It was fucking crazy, stupid even, but he figured it would be fast and better for everyone if they just got the five of you out before anyone else showed up. With the help of a few others you all managed to get part way to the wall before you woke up very much confused. It was a small delay, you couldn’t remember anything that happened after transforming.
“Wait so I was a titan?” you couldn’t believe it, it sounded made up.
Connie continued running holding your hand “Yeah, You showed up right as a titan was about to grab me, actually you saved me a few times, could you recognize me while you were a titan?”
You didn’t answer, you didn’t have an answer. According to others they saw you as a titan more than once save Connie specifically but when you try thinking about it you couldn’t remember. Mikasa said it was probably instincts that took over like how it did for Eren who was still very much knocked out.
“Are you sure you want to do this Connie? What about your family I don’t want you to give that up for me” You knew the consequences of getting caught were and just how bad it was going to be if you were reported for transforming into a titan the last thing you wanted was Connie having to face those consequences with you when he was innocent.
He slowed down and eventually stopped to face you, holding your hand and bringing his other hand to hold your cheek pulling you into a kiss. It felt like heaven after the devastation this day had been.
Pulling apart he gave you a soft smile “You are my family I'm not leaving you, you don’t think you can get rid of me that easily do you?”
A small smile crossed your face, you didn’t know what would happen in the future but as long as you had Connie by your side it would always be better.
