Chapter Text

Rose took another deep breath to calm her nerves.
She looked in the mirror and made sure her hair and makeup were right.
Today she would record her first YouTube video. For a long time she had wondered if she should do it. But she really wanted to run some kind of video blog.
She herself loved watching such vlogs and for a long time had the thought of filming them.

The 17-year-old talked about it for a long time with her father, who had also heard from YouTube, tictoc and other platforms, but mostly only bad things, which is why he first wanted to forbid her to make such videos until Karl, his partner, put in a good word for her.
She promised not to undertake any dangerous challenges. Who came up with the idea of eating a tablespoon of dry cinnamon, for example?
That was stupid in her opinion. As well as not naming any addresses and the like publicly. But this was such a matter of course for them.
But her family was interesting enough that she thought it might be a good idea.

Then with a smile, she hit 'record'. "Hi! I'm Rosemary Winters and I want to introduce you to my blog about my everyday life and my family!"
Started it. Paused. No, that was stupid. She deleted the video and was glad that she wasn't forced to do anything live. If she didn't like it, she could simply start over again. This thought calmed her increasingly. After two more attempts, she already felt more confident with the camera and now press 'record' again.

"Welcome to my blog! I'm Rosie and I want to let you into my life that is anything but boring." She smiled and got up. Took the camera. "I live with my dad and his boyfriend Karl. My parents are divorced but on good terms. I have a lot of contact with my mother and they all get along.So, no Soap-opera drama here" For starters she explained to the unknown masses.
"It would be best if I introduce them to you personally!" She made up her mind and took the camera with her in search of her father.

She found him in the kitchen where he was preparing lunch. "Hi Dad!" She called out who looked at the camera in surprise. "Are you filming?" He asked when he realized she was holding the camera up too long as for a photo.
She smiled and nodded. "Yap" she replied with a popping 'p'.
"Oh dear" he tried to straighten his hair a bit and straighten his shirt. "Warn me!"
She laughed and turned the camera back so that you could see herself. "The way he lives and lives ... do you know where Karl is?"
"I think in the living room?" Answered her father and so she made her way there.

There she also found the gray-haired man who had just made himself comfortable on the couch and was reading something on his tablet.
"Hey Karl," she greeted him in the same stature as Ethan. "Hey baby," he replied without looking up. When he did, he looked a little puzzled until he started to smile. "Are you filming for your little videos yet?" He asked with a smile. "Mhm!" She confirmed.
He put the tablet aside and got up. "I didn't even know that I was the star of your show!" He said Showmanish and bowed. “My name is Karl Heisenberg! Welcome!"
You could hear her laughing.
"It's more of a little idea of who we all are and a little" getting to know "all of that."

"Check out her videos! ... and ... this bell rings or whatever you are doing now. "He said in the camera.
After she went back up to her room, she put the camera back on the table.
“So much for my little family for now. I hope you liked it. Do you have questions or want to see something. Write it in the comments! I would be very happy about it! "
She brushed a strand of hair back from her face.
"Thank you very much for watching and see you soon! Take care!"

She turned off the camera ... downloaded the video to her laptop and edited it without further ado. Here and there a few small effects and some simple music. She hoped it would be well received and tried her luck.

While it was uploading to YouTube, she went back down for lunch. The small family sat together.
Karl asked her how it was going.
“I'm putting the first video up. I'm ... pretty nervous to be honest. What if people don't like it? "

"Then they have no taste!" Protested Karl. "you're Marvellous!"
"I would definitely watch it," said Ethan. But he would support all of her if she enjoyed it. Even if he was still a little undecided that he suddenly ended up in front of the camera himself.
Yes, he could say that he doesn't want that and Rose would take his wish into account! But maybe this turned out to be quite funny after all. And as long as this was just a hobby of hers. She got no problems at school or was so aloof like some teenagers who then only lived for social media, he was also satisfied with it.
She smiled and seemed happy to get so much support. "Thank you Dad, thank you Karl," she said.

They ate together in peace. After she went back to her room, she was glad to see that the video was ready.
Here and there a little description and a suitable cover picture.
After that, she hit 'publish' and hoped for the best.
Now it was a waiting game.

She couldn't help but refresh the page two or three times when she noticed that nothing happened so quickly. She turned the laptop off again and went into the living room to spend some time with her dads.

Rosie then let the whole thing rest for a few days at the end. But today she couldn't take it anymore. At school she was already very excited. She'd filmed and edited things all week. As soon as she was home she threw her backpack in the corner of the room and started her laptop.
She logged in and couldn't believe it. Over 300 hits and more likes than what she had ever expected for such a small video.
Yes, even the first comments!
She squealed with joy and was glad that her fathers were downstairs. Karl in particular would certainly make fun of her embarrassing sounds.
She quickly made small notes on the comments that she would respond to.
When that was done, she set up her little camera setup and freshened up for the camera.

She took a short breath before pressing "Record" again.

"Hello! Welcome back! ”She greeted the unknown audience. “Many thanks to everyone who saw my video and even left small likes! You can't imagine how happy this makes me! ”She said with a big smile.
“I'll go into the comments at the end of the video! But first I want to tell you about my week and show you. "
She took a more comfortable posture in her chair and looked casually into the camera as if she was more likely to be talking to a person.
But she also wanted to achieve this effect so that the viewer felt addressed.

“I don't know how it is with you, but here it feels like 3 billion degrees outside and we are all literally melting. Karl and I have now finally been able to persuade Dad to build a pool! Such a big one in the earth. Because a simple one to set up wasn't enough of course. ”She tried to give it more shape with facial expressions and gestures.
"Anyway, it all started something like this."

She had the camera in her hand and was in the back of their garden.

Karl stood there with a spade and was about to mark out the radius they would need. Ethan was also in front of the camera, trying to keep Karl in check.
"Not with my plants!" He called over to Karl and pointed to the poor flowers which, in Karl's enthusiasm, would not be able to withstand much.
"But this is the best place!" Protested the gray-haired man.
"Nothing there! I don't care over there ... but not here! ”Argued the blonde and pointed to another corner of the garden. “But we're only in the pure sun there!” Tried the older man.
"Put up an umbrella for all I care." Ethan grumbled. He would protect his hard-earned plants. "Either there or none at all!"
Well Ethan had the last word and so Karl trotted to the indicated corner.

“Now that we have found a place, Karl and I have started digging a suitable trench. That was easier said than done. ”Came the overvoice from Rose.
Next you saw a couple of smaller timelape scenes where she and Karl started digging on the ground. Removed earth and continued digging until they had a comfortable depth.
Ethan could be seen in there every now and then, bringing them snacks or drinks. Every now and then he helped out and took away a wheelbarrow with dirt. But mainly he left the project to the two of them.

The camera showed herself again.
"After three days we had finally dug everything and were so exhausted."

The next scene came and you saw Karl in front of a couple of large boxes of tiles and sacks of cement and other building materials.
She stepped closer with the camera. "And do you see through?" She asked. Karl tried to find an online guide on how to properly tile a pool. "I'm not sure," he grumbled.
Originally he just wanted to push an oversized foil into the hole and fill it with water. But he had made the compromise with Ethan that IF there was already a kind of pool in their garden it should at least be made RIGHT and not just a hole in the ground with a plastic bag. However, Karl didn't want to hire anyone to do this job and do everything himself.
The gray-haired man had to quickly recognize that flowing was not as easy as YouTube made it look.
After the first tiles broke and the ones that stuck were not lined up correctly so that there were more edges that could injure yourself, Ethan came with the phone book and threw it into Karl's pit.
"Please call a tiler!"

So Karl had to admit defeat.
You just saw how grumpily he leafed through the phone book. Well ..a metal pool wouldn't have been a problem for him. He could even do something with woodwork. But the gray-haired man also had his limits and that was tiles.

The camera jumped back on today's Rose who was sitting in front of the camera.
“The end of the song is that a company will finish building the pool next week.” She finally said.
Then the young girl sit up straighter.
"Now we come to the audience questions!"

She looked at her little notes.
“I see some questions for Karl here ... I'll do them right away. But mine first. "
She read it through again.

So she trotted down into the living room where Ethan was sitting. "Hey Dad." She greeted him briefly who only waved into the camera. "Hello," he replied and turned back to his book.
She could imagine where Karl was because you could hear the dull resounding metal music from the basement where Karl had his little workshop. [in the edit area she had a small text warning that it could get quite loud for a short time]

The closer she got, the louder the music and the noise of a circular saw on metal was to drown out. Sparks jumped around the working man.
"Karl! ... KARL!!!! "
She tried to shout over the equipment somehow. After Karl noticed that she was standing at the door, he switched off the machine as well as the music with a movement of his wrist.
"Hey Buttercup! What's wrong? ”He asked with a smile. He leaned against the work table and, as usual, wore hardly any protective clothing except for a pair of leather gloves and his sunglasses ('yes Ethan, the glasses are enough to protect my eyes')

He seemed visibly pleased about it.

I'm a simple old dog that works like a moving magnet." He said with a smile. "I am a lord, but I like the simple life a lot more with a boyfriend and our loving daughter."
"Flatterer .." she gave her comment, which was only reinforced with a broad grin. "And I know that you all only tune in because of me!"

"I'm slowly not sure whether this format is so good for your ego." She mumbled but without evil meaning it. More amused. Ethan came down in the meantime and wanted to get the two of them for dinner. He looked back and forth between them.

"Anyway, I have another question from Allthegoodnamesweretakeneventhisone"

"What a name!" Commented Karl. "Yes ... all written together in one word. I find it amusing. In any case, you are asked: what’s it like having access to all this tech and the internet after so long?"

Karl looked seriously into the camera. "honestly? It is great!!! How incredibly much is already possible! Do you see that little thing ?! ”He held up his smartphone. “The thing can do everything that HUGE machines used to do in the past! And it's so incredibly small! "
Ethan smiled. "The first time we moved in here he wanted to take EVERYTHING apart to see how it works."

"And the topic of the internet?"

"I've put on the 'parental control filter' for a long time," Ethan replied simply.

"Nothing ..." Ethan mumbled. "Food is ready!" With that he ran back upstairs.

Karl looked at Rose. "What does he mean by parental control filter?"
"Oh ... nothing more." She giggled. She then looked into the camera herself.

Karl called into the camera before the video ended.

"Hello and welcome back! ... I'm sorry that this video came online later and you will surely have noticed the other room in the background, but one after the other! First of all, many thanks again for all the new hits and likes ! "She hoped to hit the 1000 soon.
She sit down a little straighter.
"The company got the pool ready quickly."

It showed a video with Karl crouching by the window. He looked just over the windowsill at the back garden. With the camera she stepped closer to the man who was starting out like a little child.
"what are you doing there?" she asked behind the camera what made him flinch. "Huh? .. oh .. ahh .. nothing!"
"Are you sure?" she asked with a grin. "yap! come here little one ... quick, quick!" he slid a little to the side to make room for her and made a waving movement that she should come to him. The blond girl also stepped closer and now looked out the window. "Are you watching the workers by the pool?"
She turned the camera briefly to the craftsmen outside who were quietly doing their work. Careful not to show any faces.

"I want to make sure you aren't doing any nonsense." Karl said paranoidly and for a moment the two stared calmly at the workers. Unsuspecting that Ethan also stepped into the room. “Are you spying on the tilers?” He asked quietly.
They both got frightened and finally let go of the window.
"Let the craftsmen work in peace, yes?"
She giggled and turned off the camera.
The next scene emerged shortly afterwards.

She was at the same window again and filmed outside where Karl was filling the pool with water with a hose. "Of course Karl already had a lot of fun with our achievement," came the gentle overlay voice from her.
Ethan was outside too and smiled briefly at the work. He leaned briefly on his boyfriend who kissed him on the forehead before he took care of his vegetable beds further back. Karl looked after him, called him something briefly before he suddenly held the hose to her father to spray him wet. Of course, to the great protest of the blonde.

The next scene then showed the pool that was already filled.

Now it was Ethan and Rose's turn to laugh.

It then showed herself again in the strange room. "That evening we had a little warm-up party at the pool where I forgot my camera. weeell ... You might be wondering why I'm sitting here in a completely different room. That's because I'm not at home! We went on a little road trip to see Karl's side of family. "

Again a video was fed in where she filmed different landscapes and routes from the back seat of the car. She briefly showed Karl at the wheel.

She took on a more relaxed posture again and leaned back comfortably.

Her eyes are all rolled up and her tongue is hanging out!" asked Karl, amazed.

The two were briefly silent again.

"Don't put the boring protection filter on again! I want to see if she dies of a heart attack after all! What happens to the tentacle monster ?! Ethan!!!"

Rose chuckled and looked at the camera again. "Well, if we had that first. I think I should leave them alone for now before I get to the next question."
Later on, Rose met her father alone, who was relaxing on the couch. "Dad? I have a viewer question from 'gataloka03' for you. Nothing bad, I promise." she explained and sat down with him.
“Okay?” Ethan sat up. "Then go ahead."
She looked at her cell phone. "So ... first of all, what kind of job do you have?"

Ethan was reassured that it was a normal question after all. "I work in the IT where Leon was so nice to get me a job with the security programs at B.S.A.A. Mainly boring programming things." he said with a shrug. "But it allows me to work a lot from home and for my sweetie here" to demonstrate on Rose. "And to be there for Karl. A wedding with him ..to share the rest of my life with him would be nice. But I don't want to urge him to do anything. I'm happy the way our stand is right now. Rose smiled warmly. "You said that nice." With that she put herself into view again.

Rose checked her account again. She was overjoyed that this medium was well received and that people kept asking her or giving her smaller tasks in the meantime.
She read everything through obediently and seemed quite astonished.
Answered something here and there before starting her camera.
Happy to report about things that she experienced this week.

"Hello guys and welcome back to my vlog! First of all, again a big thank you to everyone who participated, you are the best!"
She literally beamed into the camera.
"First of all. At the beginning of the week, 'CaptainKon0' made the suggestion that the family go to paintball! I thought this was a great idea and immediately suggested it to everyone. Scenes followed as she hid or ran through different areas. It was behind a wall and showed how Karl had just caught and shoot Donna.
This one crouched on the floor. She was the first to get out and really didn't think that was a problem. She was just glad that the family had taken her with them.
Angie, however, saw it very differently. Dramatically the doll ran to her and grabbed her dress "Donna NOOOOOooouuuu" called this dramatically into the sky. "It's ok" said the brown-haired woman gently but as usual she was ignored by the doll. "That means revenge! Bloody revenge!!" She called out and jumped up.
She took the gun that was way too big for her and tried to point it at Karl.

Karl could hardly contain himself with laughter. "Revenge huh? Then show what you can do, doll!"
Angie tried to straighten the gun, but she couldn't pull the trigger. Karl kicked it then aside and thus disarmed Angie. He turned his own weapon on the doll and grinned. "Sprich dein Stoßgebet" he said with a cool stature before he shoot at Angie as well.

Yes, drama was very important in her family.
Donna was now carrying a crying and screaming Angie from the battlefield. "It's okay, it doesn't matter that we've lost" the gentle woman comforted her creation. "Come on, let's see that we can get the paint out of your dress."
The next scene showed them standing on one side with Karl and Ethan while Alcina and her daughters were on the other.

Rose looked back and forth between her dads before suddenly walking over to her aunt.

Cassandra was surprised and tried to shoot on Ethan, but she didn't hit him. Daniela was luckier and got the father. "No Ethan!" Shouted Karl.
“You will atone for that!” Two more shots and he and Rose eliminated both of the daughters.
Alcina scolded and looked at the paint on her dress. "You will pay for the cleaning!" She growled. “And you young lady! That you betrayed me will also cost you dearly! "

I won !!! ”Together with her he went to the rest of the troop, just before he got into the safe room, he felt an impact on his shoulder and a splash of a plastic ball bursting open. "What the heck?" When he turned around, he saw none other than Moreau.

He had hidden right here at the beginning and waited for the right moment. Karl had completely forgotten about him! "You lousy swamp rat!" He started to growl. Ethan came out with the others. "You won Salvatore!" He announced to the disfigured man.
"Won? I really won? ”He asked uncertainly and then smiled broadly. He had never won anything before.

“So Uncle Moreau had won, he was really very happy and deserved it. We all went out to eat pizza together. "
She looked briefly at her notes because she really didn't want to forget anyone.
“Then 'ValentineSin13' gave me the task of getting a little make-over from Alcina's daughters. So I went to them.

Once again it was not the normal video setup what you usually see.
No, it was very different. Scrap metal, canisters of strange substances, and various devices for handling everything were everywhere in the background.

But it was no wonder that it was not Rose but again Karl who was in front of the camera.
“A warm welcome to a little ... how should you say?" He started and put the camera on the table. With a wave of his arm he wiped away the stuff lying around in front of the camera. Screws and various papers flew to the ground.

“I have a special requirement for YOU!” He explained and took a few steps back. He sighed and seemed to collect the right words.

The two also looked at the sky and Karl looked nervous, but Ethan calmed him down and they walked on.
When Ethan got to Salvatore's pond, he couldn't believe his eyes. Karl and Rose have decorated the whole place. In the middle was a classy table with two plates full of a good-smelling fish dish.
Karl pulled his chair back for him in all gentlemanly fashion and the two of them ate a romantic candlelit dinner.

Karl found all of this terribly cheesy. But the girls ( plus Salvatore who love this cheesy movies) all told him to, and in fact, Ethan seemed to like it. Soon, however, the moment of truth came. Ethan now recognized what Karl was up to and laughed softly. "Hey." He said calmly and crouched down next to him.
"I'm sorry. I imagined it all very differently ... and ... and the rain ... I ... mhmmmmm ”grumbled the older one.
"Karl. There is nothing you can do about the weather. But ... how about you ask me your question anyway? "

Karl looked up at him. Ethan. His amazing, wonderful Ethan. Heart of gold and just so amazing. How did he deserve it? The blonde was everything he could imagine among the perfect people. At least in Karl's point of view.

Rose was just sitting on the couch. At least from the video standpoint. She was filming Karl standing in front of Ethane with a glass of water. With his back to his fiancé and grinning at the camera.

Ethan was mopping the floor in the background and Karl, mischievous as he was, always poured some water on the floor out of the glass.
Ethan glared at him at first. Just wiped this away, but Karl didn't leave it at that until Ethan simply took the rag and threw it at Karl.

Rose laughed when it hit him in the face. then came the next scene.

[I tried to do one of those "reaction" videos later that afternoon and the coming out of it was so incredibly cute]
she added a text box while the video showed Karl sitting at the kitchen table. He was playing around on his tablet. The Metal Man really loved this League of Legend game.

"Hello and welcome back to the last vlog in my little series!" Rose greeted her audience with a smile. "I think it's a shame that we have to end this series so early. But I tried to create a great ending and get everyone in front of the camera again!" She said calmly and then added the first videos.

First she went to the Dimitrescus. Fortunately she found them all together in one room. “Hey guys!” Shouted the vlogger and smiled. "This is my last vlog and I have one last question for you from ValentinSin13" she said.
She briefly explained to the girls who asked why it was the last vlog.

"So to the question ..." Rose began calmly. "You make blood infused wine ... Have you ever thought of cocktails?"
Alcina made a face. "The wine is good as it is." She was clearly against it. Her daughters, on the other hand, did not seem to agree. "What is a cocktail?" Asked Bela.
"Alcoholic drinks ... mostly mixed." Daniela explained to her sister. "But why should we make cocktails?" The youngest now wanted to know. "Why not?" Cassandra asked, however. "I've always wanted to try a Bloody Mary like this."
"It's just plain tasteless." Alcina grumbled in the background and leaned back.
Rose had to laugh at that.
"I'm sure dad might know how to make one. Just come over later," she said. "Do you have a few last words?"

“Don't forget your manners,” Alcina said calmly.
"Yes! Only true gentlemen and ladies rule the world!" Cassandra added. "Even if it can't be fun every now and then-" "Bela!" Corrected Daniela the youngest.

"Are you still doing those little videos ?! I thought Leon forbade you to do them!" Mia got upset slightly but Rose tried to calm her down immediately. "Yes. This is the last video, I wanted to give everyone one more chance to say goodbye." explained the teenager.
"oh that's nice of you." said Donna in her low voice.

"And I have another question from ValentineSin13 ... Has Angie ever made sure that you had to laugh out loud?" Rose asked with a smile. Angie jumped up and claimed attention. "Of course I have!" She answered for her maker. "I make Donna laugh all the time!" Donna nodded in confirmation.

"Once we were at Miranda's meeting and it was SO boring ... I couldn't help but get a little bit of fun!" The doll said. Donna smiled under her veil. "We got in a lot of trouble that we interrupted Mother Miranda." she said calmly.
Rose smiled. "oh and mom ... I know you don't want to be in my videos and I respect that." which is why she didn't film her mother directly. "I just want to tell you from Gataloka03 who understands your actions."
That there were less drastic ways ... Rose kept to herself. She didn't want to upset her mother any further.

"That's fine." said this calmly.

An ecological color that Karl and Ethan had gotten for Salvatore, Ethan even got a small fountain in it, but it was switched off for the coming winter. In the vicinity, Ethan and Karl have made sure that nothing is left idle, but grass grew and at the edges were the various beds with the flowers that she had mentioned.

The two of them had also renovated the little wooden hut in which Moreau lived in long and loving work. The Fishman now had no rotten, moldy wooden panels but a beautiful white and light blue painted house.

"Karl and Dad did a great job and every so often I catch Uncle Moreau just standing on his property and looking at it," she said quietly before going to the house. She knocked and was immediately let in. She also explained to her uncle why this was the last vlog.

"I have one more question for you," she announced and Moreau listened intently. "Do you have a favorite fish?"

“I like blob fish. They're cool. ”Rose said with a smile which also seemed to cheer her uncle up.
She then said goodbye to him and went back home after he said a shy thank you for watching as his last words.

On the way she just met Leon and Chris in the garden. Leon was doing some stretching exercises and Chris was helping him.
Rebecca was sitting at the garden table with her laptop.

"Hey you three!" She shouted and smiled. “You are exactly the right person! I have a few last questions for the last video! ”She said with a smile.
Both men looked at her and paused.

"Hey little one." She greeted Chris with a smile. "Sorry again about your videos. I thought it was really good. "Said Leon.
"It's all right. I know it's not your fault but your superiors. "What are the questions?" Rebecca wanted to know now.

"How is your new relationship going?" She asked.

"I'm not sure .. maybe?" Chris started but Leon looked at him. "Maybe?! You two could never take your eyes off each other! Back then in the helicopter ... don't think that I wouldn't have noticed the eye-sex ... and so did the whole team! ”Rebecca added with a laugh.

Later that evening she went downstairs where she met the last two. Karl was in the living room with Sturm and let him run around freely. With around 4000 hits, 200 comments and 170 kudos, this is really a good result in my opinion. And I really enjoyed interacting with you guys! q(≧▽≦q)
Unfortunately, the time and the many new projects that I have planned no longer allow me to devote myself to this with as much heart and love as I did at the beginning.
I refuse to heartlessly write anything down. Because this fanfiction and especially you don't deserve that! (。・・)ノ

Rosie's vlog is one of my first bigger projects and so far the biggest fanfiction I've ever written with 18 chapters.
I learned a lot and I think that it also helped my writing skills to develop further.
