Chapter Text
"What's wrong, Elisa why did they call us here?" Lucas asked, hurriedly joining his sister in front of the large door to the faculty administrator's office. She cast her twin brother a glance of acknowledgment.
"Unsure." She answered, curtly. Lucas cringed at her short answer but chose not to say anything and knocked on the door.
The old yet grand door creaked open and the administrator's secretary peeped out. Her eyes lit up in recognition and she smiled.
"Come in, boss man has been expecting you!" She giggled. Lucas smiled back hesitantly and rolled his eyes at her when she hopped behind the door to open it fully.
He could never understand how someone as unprofessional as her is the secretary of Faculty Two. Actually, he does know why. It's because the administrator of Faculty Two is just as eccentric as her.
Weirdos attract weirdos. He sighed.
She wriggled her fingers at them, beckoning them to come in. Elisa, ignoring her weird snorts and giggles headed straight to his table. Lucas waved to the weird secretary and joined Elisa.
The administrator smiled at the two and Lucas smiled back.
"My two star students, Elisa and Lucas. How are you both?" He asked, kindly.
"We are doing great! The staff's been awesome to us." Lucas said, answering for the both of them, knowing Elisa doesn't like small talk. It isn't surprising that the administrator adores Elisa since she is just as much of an enigma as he is.
Lucas prays to all the Gods that he could ever think of, thanking them for making him as normal as he is.
"I am glad to know you both are doing good. I won't lie I was a bit worried you two would struggle to get along with the other kids." He smiled, softly at the two. "A bit pretentious some of these kids are but all of them have good hearts."
Lucas doubts that but he is not going to question the man who was kind enough to give them a scholarship.
"So, now onto the reason why I called you here." He swiveled in his chair and Lucas swears he heard a little "weeeeeeee" as he spun around but once again
scholarship.
He grabbed a fancy scroll and pushed it into Elisa's hand. (Lucas would call him out for showing favouritism but once again-) Elisa methodically pulled the ribbon off and pushed her glasses up to glance through it.
Lucas tried to catch a glimpse of the paper but before the secretory could sneeze Elisa was done. Maybe he'll just read it on his own time, later, all alone.
"You want us to take on a trainee mission at Faculty 7?" She asked, skeptically. "We have exams next week."
Lucas would do anything to miss the exams but sister dear would rather be a spoilsport it seems. Darn it.
He hummed. "I know, but this is once in a lifetime opportunity. Faculty 7 is new and it's fantastic. You can miss your exams, there'll be many more in the future, but" He tapped his fingers on the table, rhythmically. "this isn't coming back ever again."
He desperately and pleadingly hoped Elisa could catch the puppy dog eyes he was sending her way (not that it would ever work on her) and accept the mission. He does not want to write that exam. (Oh, the once in a lifetime opportunity stuff is cool too...)
"All right." Elisa agreed and if they were not in front of the head of their faculty Lucas would have screamed in delight. "We accept."
Lucas nodded his head in agreement. "Yes, we do!"
"Thats amazing!" The administrator stood up and shook both of their hands, amiably. "I hope you make the best of this experience. Go to your dorms and pack your bags. Off you go now."
Elisa passed the scroll back to him and he gently held the scroll as if its a newborn baby. "Woohoo! Faculty 7!" He muttered under his breath and Lucas tried hard not to snort.
If Lucas could, he would have skipped to the door and beyond but for now, he will hold it in. He'll let it go once he reaches his room. The secretary whispered a good luck and he whispered his gratitude back. Just as Lucas was about to follow Elisa out, she turned around and uttered the most horrendous words she could-
"I hope we will be allowed to write a re-test once we come back from the mission?"
The administrator looked up and tilted his head to the side. "If you want to, I could arrange for it. It's not necessary-"
"I consider it absolutely necessary." She answered, immediately.
He laughed. "All right, all right. I"ll ask the staff to conduct a separate test for you two."
And if that night he grabbed the entire bottle of laxatives from his kit and shoved the entire thing into Elisa's food
No one needed to know.
(And of course Elisa figured out something was wrong with her food and proceeded to make the chef eat it as punishment for not being careful.
The chef's a bit prideful and he said nothing's wrong with his food, called Elisa stupid and proceeded to down the the entire thing in one gulp.
Lucas would feel bad but the chef's kind of an asshole so he deserves it.)
The night was uneventful except for any student who went to the men's bathroom, coming back yelling about some ghost, proceeding to find out its the chef and then agreeing that he deserved it. If they can bond over something, its their mutual hatred of the chef.
Come breakfast and man's nowhere to be seen. He has never seen his dorm so happy.
"Lucas, man, a trainee mission, eh? You are going into the big leagues, buddy!" Said...one of them. (He isn't very good with names.)
"Haha, its not that much of a big deal." He chuckled. "Can't wait to spend the entire month with snobby times ten in Faculty 7."
"Oof, yeah I heard they're far worse than anything over here." The blond guy said. "Well, knowing you and Elisa I assume you'll finish the mission within a week." (Richard? it has to be. Damn he managed to remember one of their names, he is so proud.)
"Yikes" Lucas muttered and shoved his bread into his mouth. He has to hurry up otherwise Elisa might just magically teleport to Faculty 7 and then tell him that he should have been faster. Yeah, like he can outrun teleportation.
"All right" He stood up and slammed the table. "See you boys later!"
Richard had gone to pick up some more bread and Lucas felt a strange obligation to wait long enough to tell him a goodbye as well. Its not like they're best friends or anything, it's just that he wants to celebrate the fact that he managed to remember his name.
Don't judge him, let him have his moment.
Lucas smiled brightly as Richard came back to the table. "Bye Richard! See you soon!"
Richard waved back, matching his enthusiasm and Lucas hurried out the door.
Richard sat down and shook his head, dejectedly. "None of you tell him he got my name wrong again."
"We won't but God damn, this is the fifth time."
Even if you held Lucas at gunpoint and asked him to tell you about the journey to Faculty 7, it would end up with Lucas getting a bullet through his skull because he was so passed out in the car Elisa had to slap him awake.
He walked on full auto pilot until Faculty 7's administrator's office and during the conversation he was trying his best not to doze off. The man was so boring. Rather than getting to the point he spun yarns and yarns of nonsense that was absolutely not necessary and Lucas never thought it was possible but he really missed his own administrator now.
Lucas could only entertain himself by taking in his surroundings which wasn't any more fun considering it looked pretty much the same as their own faculty but a little more polished. The uniform of their faculty was way nicer. (Their uniform was nice too but it was a bit too formal for his taste.)
The administrator himself...was old but he looked very good for his age. His outfit was posh and he was a neat, clean and polished man. Lucas hoped his uniform didn't have crumples. (Even though he ironed the damn thing nearly ten times yesterday.)
After about 20 minutes of... basically nothing. He finally got to the point and "point" refers to passing the mission file to them and telling them to read it thoroughly. Thanks, dipshit.
"All right, then." He said with his gruff voice. He beckoned to his secretory who nodded and let two students into the room.
"These two will accompany you on the mission. Its a fairly easy one. Easier than F class missions which is why we thought it would be better in the hands of students." He flipped the pen in his hand, in an impressive stroke and went back to his work.
One of the two girls gently poked his shoulders and pointed to the door. Lucas nodded and followed them out with Elisa.
The two girls smiled brightly at Lucas and Elisa and Lucas smiled back. Elisa, as usual, stared at the two blankly.
"Hey-hey! Nice to meet you both. My name's Cara and this is Juliet!" Said girl did some finger guns and giggled.
"Hey, I am Lucas. Nice to meet you too"
"I am Elisa."
