Work Text:

Jinsol's feet are dragging, her movements slower and more delayed than the already unhurried pace she typically takes on in her day-to-day life. Why rush?

This morning is worse though, kept up most of the night by her roommate's fling of the week. Maybe she'll have a quick chat with Sooyoung about that, a schedule that can be sorted out so she doesn't have to hear moans from various strangers (or Sooyoung because honestly ew) and the sound of the bed steadily knocking against the wall. It's too much.

Headphones can only do so much when there's a fucking bed ramming against the shared wall Jinsol's own bed is against. Eventually she did fall asleep but missed her first and second alarms.

So, she's late to work and luckily it's slow morning but she still hadn't found the time to get coffee of her own. The irony isn't lost on her, being tired and exhausted in a coffee shop. Karma for being late, she's being taunted by the familiar rich smell of their daily brews and all the people in the cafe enjoying them while she certainly isn't.

Jinsol overhears the order being taken at the counter and starts on the drinks, watches the espresso drip from the machine into the cup.

“Jungeun!” She calls out the name printed neatly on the sticker, sets the two beverages down on the hand-off plane for the customer to grab and--

Oh. She's really pretty, like really pretty. Jinsol can't remember seeing her here before and she absolutely wouldn't forget.

Jinsol tries to file away her drink order in her mind in case she comes back. A medium chocolate latte with three added pumps of caramel in a large cup for extra whipped cream and caramel drizzle on top and wow that's so sweet. She hopes her teeth are okay.

“Actually,” The blonde slides the smaller cup back across the in Jinsol's direction, “You look like you could use it. I don't know what you like so I figure just straight up espresso is the way to go?”

She flashes a smile and actually her teeth seem just fine but Jinsol feels her knees go a little weak. This girl has to be an angel. Her hair's pulled up and Jinsol notices the tinge of red that colors her ears (cute) the longer she goes without saying thing to her. To Jungeun. Her name's pretty, too.

Jinsol's taken aback, she'd noticed her?

She clears her throat, smiles and accepts the cup, “No that's perfect,” she assures her, “Thank you.”

There's no other customers now and no drinks in queue to make so Jinsol takes the opportunity to down the hot liquid. Relief washes over her knowing it won't take long for it to kick in.

“I was needing that,” She feels better already, like she can take on the day.

Jungeun nods in understanding, holding up her own drink. Jinsol doesn't say it and maybe it's not actually true but she's pretty sure the amount of sugar in that cup Jungeun is holding makes any caffeine that was in there completely obsolete.

Sugar rushes are a thing, too, so she digresses.

“Rough night?”

Jinsol scoffs, thinks about throwing her roommate under the bus to this complete stranger but she is at work. She can't exactly say that her roommate fucks too loud and seems to forget she isn't the only one that lives in their apartment.

“Something like that. The coffee helps, thanks again.”

Jungeun glances down at her watch, “I have to run to work but I hope I'll see you again?”

Jinsol hopes the same.

Feeling energized the rest of her shift, Jinsol couldn't keep Jungeun out of her head.
