“Quinn, honey!” Judy Fabray calls, shuffling into Quinn’s room.
Quinn, who is lying on her bed sighs. “Yes, mom?”
“Get ready! Your cousin’s graduation party starts in an hour!” With that, Judy leaves a very confused Quinn Fabray behind.
“Party? Graduation?” For being a senior in high school and at the top of her class, this is the first time Quinn has felt dumb. She groans and just figures it’s another party that Judy only shows up to so she can meet with her other “Women of Jesus” group and gossip about everyone in Lima. If she’s being honest, Quinn didn’t even know she had cousins living near her, but hey, one is graduating apparently! The blonde gets out of bed and heads to her closet to find something to wear. She settles on wearing a simple, yet elegant, black dress that flows and fits her nicely.
“Rachel, you have to do this.” Kurt hisses while he looks at dresses.
“No! I am simply not going to a Christian party to sing to a bunch of middle aged white ladies who will only gossip about me for five hours!” Rachel shrieks.
Kurt sighs and rubs his face. “Rach, you realize you’re gonna get tons of money from this? Think about it, they all live in the rich part of Lima. They’re willing to pay money to cover your tuition for this year and next year and our rent!” Rachel sighs and wishes the pale boy wasn’t right, but he was.
“Fine. Only because I want to leave for New York as soon as possible.” Rachel and Kurt were college freshmen at NYADA and money was tight. They are sharing an apartment together but Kurt was currently unemployed and Rachel had only auditioned for shows but haven’t gotten callbacks. Someone in Lima had seen Rachel’s videos on Facebook and had hired her to sing at a graduation. Rachel was displeased to learn that she had to go back to Lima, a place where she thought she could forget about for good, but here she was. There were going to be about 700 people in the party hall, and Rachel thought of it as her own concert.
Kurt claps his hands excitedly and hands Rachel a dress. “This would look perfect on you.” It was a white silk dress with spaghetti straps. Rachel smirks and already knows she’s ready to put on a show.
When Quinn arrives, the party is already getting started. She walks in with Judy and she feels as if all eyes are on her. She is already so bored.
“Aw, don’t act so bored, Quinnie! There is going to be a special performer here!” Judy informs her before running off to go meet with her friends and drink some wine. Quinn scans the room that is slowly filling up and when she sees no one she knows, she plops in a seat at a table closest to the stage. If she’s going to be bored, might as well be close to the only thing that will get her attention.
The party is now in full swing, and Quinn won’t lie and say she’s a bit tipsy. All she had to do was flirt with the bartender before getting four shots of vodka. All the men are dancing around drunkenly while the women are… still gossiping.
“Alright everybody!” The DJ calls, quieting the room. The men stumble to their respective tables and try their hardest to pay attention while the women quiet down their gossiping a bit. “For tonight’s special performance, please welcome to the stage… Rachel Berry!” The room bursts into applause as a brunette walks onto the makeshift stage.
Rachel doesn’t even introduce herself before the beats of In My Feelings by Lana Del Rey flows through the speakers. Rachel’s smooth, velvety voice fills the room and Quinn is entranced. She watches the girl’s every move. Rachel sways to the music, making the men whistle and cheer her on. Quinn can’t help but feel aroused by Rachel’s movements. Quinn tries to look anywhere but at Rachel but she can’t seem to look away, even after Rachel has moved onto a happier song; We Are Young . Rachel glances into the crowd, trying to dodge the grinding men and women on the dance floor with her and makes eye contact with Quinn. Quinn leans back in her chair and smirks while drinking her glass of wine. Rachel smirks back in return and Quinn knows it’s a challenge.
After Rachel’s performance, Quinn takes a big gulp of her wine before swaying over to Rachel, who was watching the blonde’s every move near the DJ booth. Quinn smirks when she fully stops in front of Rachel.
“Quinn.” The blonde reaches her arm out.
“Rachel, but you probably already know who I am.” Rachel takes the outstretched hand.
“Rachel…” Quinn tests, liking how the name rolls of her tongue. “Hopefully I’ll be…” Quinn looks around before leaning in to whisper in the brunette’s ear. “Hopefully I’ll be screaming that name sooner or later.” She whispers huskily. Rachel shudders and looks around the room. No one seems to be focused on them, so the singer grabs Quinn’s arm as they quietly exit the party hall. The two are stumbling over each other, in a giggling mess, as they try to fumble with Rachel’s car keys.
“Hurry up!” Quinn giggles, catching Rachel’s earlobe between her teeth. Rachel smiles when she feels Quinn’s arms wrap around her waist and bites her lip to prevent her from letting out another laugh.
“Okay, okay! I got it!” The back door flies open and Rachel shoves Quinn inside. “Hurry!”
Quinn pulls Rachel with her into the backseat of Rachel’s car and Rachel shuts the door. The two fall into a small silence with Rachel on top of the blonde. Rachel smiles softly at Quinn.
“So,” Rachel says, getting off Quinn but still sitting close to the girl. “Tell me about you.”
They stay like this for what seems like forever, but the party inside has no signs of stopping. Quinn learns that Rachel is a college student -- only one year older -- and has to fly to New York soon, but was born in Lima. She has two gay dads and is bisexual herself. She went to Carmel and graduated top of her class and got into NYADA first try. Her best friends are Kurt, Finn, and Mercedes. Rachel learns tons about Quinn, too. She learns that the blonde got pregnant sophomore year and that’s the reason her dad isn’t with her anymore. Her parents divorced and she had come out to her mom as lesbian in junior year. Judy was nothing but supportive. Quinn wants to go to NYU when she graduates and applied for a scholarship to pursue a major in law. She’s just waiting for her acceptance. Quinn’s best friends are Santana, Sam, and Brittany. She went to McKinley, so Rachel and Quinn would’ve never known each other.
After a few hours of getting to know each other, Quinn kisses Rachel. Rachel doesn’t hesitate to kiss back and the kissing turns into a full make out session. Quinn leans back in the car seat and Rachel lays on top of her as they both intertwine their lips in the most unique ways possible. Rachel breaks the kiss to start trailing kisses down Quinn’s neck and the blonde responds loudly when Rachel bites onto her pulse point.
“That’s definitely leaving a mark.” Quinn mutters, weaving her fingers through Rachel’s hair, bringing her closer.
“Good.” Rachel mumbles between kisses.
“We aren’t going to… you know, today, right?” Quinn asks, sitting up. Rachel quickly nods.
“Yeah! No, uh, don’t worry about that.” She chuckles nervously. “I’m actually waiting until I’m twenty-five.” Quinn nods and an awkward silence falls between them.
“Want to get milkshakes?” Quinn offers. Rachel nods excitedly.
