Silence

Summary:

You thought Commander Thorn was the love of your life, and that mistake cost you everything.
This can be read as either a reader suicide or an accidental death. This is also my very first fanfic ever, so please be kind.

I do not own Star Wars, I'm just borrowing it without asking.

Notes:

Trigger warnings: Implied suicide, possible accidental death

SILENCE
by PrincessJ420

PAIN.

Pain like nothing you have ever known, like your entire inside has been set on fire.

You can't breathe as you watch the man you love more than life itself with his tongue down the throat of a pink-skinned, barely dressed Twi'lek woman in the booth before you.

It feels as if you're being torn apart, piece by piece. Your eyes burn as the tears begin to fall down your face while Thorn and the Twi'lek make out, oblivious to your or anyone else's presence.

You had thought tonight was going to be special; you'd been dating the handsome Coruscant Guard commander for three months, he'd been everything you could ever want in a man, and you were finally going to take the plunge and tell Thorn you loved him. The last thing you'd been expecting was to find him like this, his hands and mouth all over another woman. And in that moment, something inside you dies. If Thorn had shot you in the chest with a blaster, it couldn't have hurt more than it did now.

Slowly you turn away, blinded by the tears pouring from your eyes. You don't see the waitress droid directly in your path until you crash into it, sending the tray of drinks flying and drawing all eyes to you, including those of your lover and his new friend. You don't hear the droid's metallic apology, or see the Wolfpack clone who asks if you're OK as you move past him.

As you stumble out onto the landing platform in front of 79's, your blood roars louder and louder in your ears, drowning out the music blasting from inside the bar, a deafening crescendo of agony that grows until it feels like your head will explode.

You don't hear the frightened voices of onlookers as you blindly wobble toward the edge of the platform.

You don't hear Thorn shout your name from behind you.

The words of the air taxi droid warning you to stop never reach your ears.

Because all you can hear is the screaming of your shattered heart, crying out for silence. And then your feet are treading only air, and you feel the wind rushing past your face as you fall, horrified shrieks echoing above you. And all you can see is a durasteel roof, three levels below, flying up to meet you-

Silence.

Chapter 2: Aftermath

Coruscant Guard HQ
Three hours later

PAIN.
Pain like nothing he has ever known, like his guts being slowly ripped out.
Commander Thorn sits alone, his head in his hands, his eyes burning with unshed tears.
He trembles with grief as his mind replays that moment again and again...

You crashing into the waitress droid, glasses flying everywhere...

The bottomless depths of pain in your eyes...

Screaming your name as you fall...

"We found her."

Thorn looks up, startled; he didn't hear Stone walk in.
"Is - is she...?"

Stone puts his hand on Thorn's shoulder.
"I'm sorry, vod, she's gone."

Thorn draws a trembling breath. All hope was gone now.

"Is - is there anything you need me to do -"
"No," Stone says. "Thire's taking care of the report. Is there anything I can do for you?"
Thorn's head falls back into his hands, the tears finally breaking through.
"I tried to stop her, Stone. I couldn't get to her fast enough."
Stone sits down beside him. "I know you did. This wasn't your fault."

Thorn's head snaps up instantly.

"It IS my fault, Stone! I did this to her. I might as well have pushed her off the damn platform myself," His voice is choked by sobs, face contorted with self-loathing. "Do you know what I was doing when she walked in? I had my tongue halfway down some Twi'lek's throat! How is it not my fault?" Thorn is shaking now, filled with rage at himself.

Stone's mouth falls open in shock.

"I didn't deserve her, Stone," Thorn seems to collapse into himself. "She was so much better than I am. She would never have done something like that to me."

Stone wished he could refute it, wished he could say something to ease his vod's guilt, but he couldn't. Because Thorn was right.
So Stone just squeezed Thorn's shoulder and sat with him until his tears finally stopped.

SEVERAL MONTHS LATER - SCIPIO

PAIN.
Blaster bolts rip through Thorn's chest, tearing holes through his flesh to burn his organs.
He falls to the durasteel platform, unable to breathe.
As his head falls to the side, he can just make out something, no, SOMEONE, moving toward him and he smiles...
You kneel beside him, taking his hand in both of yours...
"I love you, Thorn."
"I love you too.
