“Isn’t it crazy how many hot air balloons are constantly in the air?” Aphmau hums as she looks up at one of them flying through the air.
Aaron follows her gaze and smiles.
Aphmau’s leaning on her hands behind her as they sit on the fountain in front of the school.
The bell hasn’t rung yet.
“Ya know, last night on 911, Buck tried to take Abby out on a date. Guess what the date was?” She turns to him.
He shrugs, “I’m starting to think I should watch more shows that you like if you’re gonna keep asking me trivia on them.”
She giggles, covering her mouth as she does so. “Stop!! Answer the question!” She lightly hits him in his shoulder.
Aaron falls back dramatically and pretends to be hurt.
She just laughs louder.
In one quick moment, Ein walks past them with his hands tightly gripping his backpack straps. “Fucking losers.” He mumbles.
Aaron looks to Aphmau with concerned eyes. At first, he didn’t know if Aphmau heard him. But the way she freezes in her motions tells him everything.
Ein doesn’t even look back. He carries on. Aaron clenches fist to stop from going over there. He should be with Aphmau.
“Anyway-“ she says with a wavering voice, trying to shrug it off.
“Yeah, um-“ Aaron clears his throat, “what was the date about?”
“Oh right, he wanted to take her out on a hot air balloon.” She glances down to fiddle with the fabric of her skirt.
“Wanted? What ended up happening? Did she harshly reject him?” He laughs, “but I thought they were dating? Didn’t you mention that?”
Aphmau lights up, “you remember?”
“Of course.” He smiles, blushing.
“Yeah, they were dating but right when they were about to get on, Abby got a phone call and had to leave.”
“So Buck had to ride alone?”
“No.. I think he went home, actually.”
“What?! I would of totally called you up or ride by myself if I was him.”
She giggles, “exactly! Me too! Opportunity wasted.”
Aaron looks up at the growing hot air balloon, it’s getting closer. “I wish I could go on a hot air balloon now.” He says with dreaming eyes.
“Same. Wouldn’t it be such a romantic date?” She watches it too, squinting to see if she can see who’s in it, but to no avail.
Aaron nods even though she isn’t looking at him.
They watch it in silence before the bell goes off. Time to go to their first class of the day.
“What do you have today?” Aaron asks as they gather their stuff up.
“English.” She answers as they walk through to the doors.
“Oh. I’ve got science. That’s on the other side. I guess I’ll see you later?” He quietly asks.
“See you in werewolf class.” She smiles and gives a little wave.
As they part ways, Aaron’s face grows increasingly hot.
‘I’m rarely this early,’ he thinks as he walks inside.
However, he might just change that just for a chance at another moment like this with Aphmau.
