Work Text:

Step by aching step, the minister walked up to the arch coated in a plethora of sickening flowers that matched the couple. With a bored huff, she flipped open the script she was holding unceremoniously and stood at attention.

Go time.

The door first opened, revealing the tall, black-haired man donning a spiffy tux standing nervous and stiff. He was gently pulled by the shorter woman next to him, her arm wrapped around his own, and he matched her movements until they made it to the altar.

With everyone’s stares at him, Hitoshi looked to the ground, avoiding them all. He was well aware that they meant no harm, but seeing such intense gazes pricked his skin, making him feel small, judged.

It wasn’t until the pastry chef tugged on his outfit that he gave a soft smile and brought himself together, gently placing his head on top of hers as they made it to the end of the aisle. With a parting kiss to HIS cheek, she went to sit down next to her girlfriends waiting for her in the front row.

He took his place at the altar, standing proud but still averting his eyes until…

The door opened a second time, and a smaller man with light pink hair and a white tuxedo marched down the rows with the LARPer next to him in tow. A bright, sunshine smile donned his face as he made eyes with his soon to be ex-fiance at the end, and his steps picked up just a little bit as he inched closer and closer to his beloved.

By the time he’d made it to the send off point, Lunatia placed a hand on his head and gave some encouraging words, pushing him towards Hitoshi once she’d concluded her point, and made her way to her spot.

Once the two stood together, Lythe mouthed a small ’Hi’ - to which his other half blushed and mouthed the same back. It was almost too much to be apart from each other right now, but soon the minister would say those wonderful words, and they’d get to lock lips in front of a whole crowd.

All they had to do was hope she was in a good mood.

Yvette looked at the sappy couple with the most lackluster face she could make, scrunching her nose in active faux apathy, then began her long speech. The whole time all she could see was them making googly eyes at each other and grinning like absolutely lovesick puppies.

It absolutely didn’t help that their two best men, each of their mentors who’d helped them postgame, were also making googly eyes at each other. Yet, those two fuckers had been married for years. This wasn’t about them, those selfish idiots, and she disregarded them as soon as she acknowledged them.

Her voice carried loud and said everything she’d been trained to say. The two betrothed said their vows, promising each other love, affection, dedication, passion, patience - and so much more. They spent a large chunk of their wedding retelling each other their favorite memories. Hitoshi’s being when he awoke from the sim to find Lythe still alive, and Lythe’s the way Hitoshi came to him every night to listen to his heartbeat and make sure he was still breathing.

Finding Lythe’s body had been one of the worst experiences of his life. He’d grieved long, finding comfort in Ume who’d also lost someone she loved, and swore he’d take down the killing game. Which, he did. He fought Helio tooth and nail when the Ultimate Instigator was revealed and was rewarded by the man he so deeply cared for being alive and well.

*Oh,* how badly he wanted to kiss that man now. Yvette could already tell by the way he was twitching that she needed to get this show on the road (as Adam would put it) lest she experience a premature makeout session.

So, she sped up, skipping anything that wouldn’t get her in trouble legally, and finally uttered the words they so desperately wished to hear. “... for sickness and in health so long as you both shall live?”

“I do.” Lythe cooed when it was his turn.

“I do.” Hitoshi whispered to the other man when Yvette repeated the mantra.

“Then with the power invested in me, you’re welcome, you may now finally fucking kiss each other.”

Hitoshi leaped towards the other, bringing them together passionately like they hadn’t done that so many times before. Not that Lythe seemed to mind with the pink blush that overtook his face as he closed his eyes to enjoy his first married kiss.

The crowd whooped and hollered, giving them a standing ovation. Their marriage was the first step for all of them to move on, and what an absolutely happy way to start.

Even Yvette wiped a tear at them, closing her book just as unceremoniously as she opened it.

Notes:

Please,,,, Please notice the itty bitty teeny tiny Saiou nod, those selfish idiots,,,,,,
