Work Text:
Persephone ... whenever Hades was given a free minute in his life, his thoughts drifted towards her. He would think of her smile and the way her lips curled letting him know that her eyes would shimmer like stars.
He missed her, her duties as Azem carried her away far, she was always gone for long periods of time. When she was gone, Hades felt incomplete, a part of his soul was missing.
"I wonder where your journeys have taken you this time, my beloved Seph…" he feels a certain pang of nostalgia as he decides he has worked enough.
It was time to retire home, even when he was alone there, to find solace in the things she had left him with. All bringing forth memories of them. Their love.
He opens the doors to the empty rooms stepping inside and leaving his mask by the door, his feet carrying him to her office. He could still make out her scent, faintly…
Sitting down at her desk his fingers move over the wood, he smiles looking at the cluttered desk. He often found himself here on such days looking through her journals, filled with sketches and little notes. It always warmed his heart though today he found something different in one of the first journals he had gifted her.

My dear friend Hades, I am terrible with words, terrible with gifts. But there is something I need to say, something I do not wish to hide any longer. I have written a thousand letters and there will be a thousand more, surely I won't give you this one either… I am such a coward. But how else could I hope to confess my feelings to you. Hades I am in love with you. I have been ever since we were children. Since the academia, since you first smiled at me confidentially declaring you'd be Emet-Selch someday. But every time I think about it.… I just thought I would be in your way. So I keep writing pretty little letters like this in hopes I someday just have enough courage to at least let you know just how much you mean to me Hades. I love you. Your Seph. |
Hades can only smile fondly reading the letter before he can hear the click of his door, instantly his face lights up. Could it be?
Getting up he moves into the living room finding Seph closing the door behind herself the mask put off and laid next to his. “My sun, you’re back.”
He can hear her soft laugh before she turns towards him. “Indeed I am my architect.” She frowns seeing the letter in his hand a soft blush crept up her neck. “Oh.. you found one of my old letters…?”
He snorts amusedly, putting it to the side. “Yes, about being terrible with words.. you are not my love. Gifts… I have loved every little flower you’ve given me.” he tells her as his arms wrap around her waist. “I think I would like to read the rest of the thousand letters…”
She blinks a little then smiles rolling her eyes slightly. “One at a time Hades… one at a time.” she tells him before their lips meet.
