Work Text:

~~~~ 1. Never ask Amiru for suggestions regarding yachts again ~~~~
This was also one of the first times he was stopped from paying for his things. He was looking for good yachts and Amiru’s father owned Ubarr Yachts, a luxurious company which produced some of the best yachts in the world.
So naturally his first idea was asking Amiru which model she would recommend. His youthful mind did not notice that this would be a not so bright idea considering Amiru already paid his lunch. She stopped him whenever he took out money or a card. But then again, a lunch and a yacht played in different leagues.
So, without thinking much about it he sent Amiru a short message in which he asked her which model she would recommend.
After around five minutes he got a message back, with three pictures of high-class, high-tech, and deluxe yachts back. The yachts seemed very up to date like the newest of the latest models.
Cale did not think much about it since money did not matter much for him and he guessed Amiru only sent him the best of the Ubarr family goods. He just wondered what those three models were called since Amiru did not send a name with the pictures.
So, when she asked, “Of those three, which is the one that caught your eye the most?” he did not think much about it.
“The third, I like it’s arrangement and style the most,” he wrote back swiftly thinking she would then inform him of the name of his chosen model.
He was a bit surprised when all he got back was an “I see.” but he decided to personally ask her about it on Monday, when they would see each other for school.
When he received a package the next day with a yacht key, he was surprised, when he saw the receipt which was issued for him, he carefully checked it thinking that Amiru sent it to him and now he just had to pay for the yacht. To his surprise the amount left to pay was a zero. Written on the note was that the payment was already settled by Amiru Ubarr and the recipient Cale only had to receive the yacht.
He took the parcel and thanked the delivery man and closed the door. He took out his phone and wrote a capital “WHY???” to Amiru.
Her answer followed in form of a winking emoji and an address written under it was “Your Yacht is waiting there for you, no need to thank me *wink*”
No need to mention he never managed to pay her back.
~~~~ 2. Not even birthday presents escape the radar ~~~~

Clopeh looked happily at the present Cale gave him before he put it aside to enclose the other in a tight hug “Thank you Boss, I love it.”

Cale smiled softly as he freed himself “I am glad you like it.” He truly was glad it took him a week to find a present Clopeh might like, he never would have guessed that the tasted of his white-haired friend would be so hard to grasp.

And asking Clopeh what kind of thinks he liked did not prove to be helpful since the other only replied “I will like everything Boss gives me.”

Cale offered “Shall I get the cake now?”

Clopeh smiled like a happy idiot and nodded “Yes, I am looking forward to see what kind of cake you brought.”

The red head shook his head amusedly before he went into the kitchen to get the cake, he put into Clopeh’s fridge earlier. Opening the fridge his eyes fell onto the angle cake, decorated with whipped cream and strawberries. It might not be as fancy as other cakes, but it was simple enough for him to make himself.

He carefully got it out of the fridge and grabbed four plates and the needed tableware, before leaving the kitchen and bringing all into the living room. There he found Taylor, Cage and the birthday boy already sitting at the table. As he placed down the cake Cage grabbed the other plates and the tableware from him and set the table with it.

Taylor inspected the cake and shared his conclusion “It looks quite simple, where d8id you buy it?”

Cale felt his cheeks redden and tried to hied his blush by cutting the cake softly he muttered “I made it myself.”

He could feel the happiness radiating of Clopeh and he saw the amusement on Taylor’s face, so he defended himself “You all kept bugging me to bake again after I brought the cookies I made for Cage’s birthday, so I thought this was a good occasion.”

Cage cooed “Aww Cale you are so good to us.”

Clopeh nodded “Thank you Cale.”

Cale’s blush depend and embarrassed by his friends reaction he felt the urge to escape the room.

Instead of running away he sat down and placed a piece of cake onto everyone’s plate, and he implored them “Eat instead of talking nonsense.”

The offers gave an affirmative answer in their own way and started to dig in.

Cale also ate a bit, but he soon wanted to throw his plate at them because the showered him with compliments which in turn nearly made his head turn into the colour of his hair. Having had enough he stood up and fled the room.

When he reached the bathroom, he went to the washbasin and let the water run. Taking a towel, he held it under the water and rubbed his face a bit to cool it off. When he was done with that, he took out his phone.

His face scrunched up in displeasure and he stormed out of the room screaming “Taylor! How dare you transfer me the money for Clopeh’s present.”

The only answer he got was the laughter which rang from the living room.

~~~~ 3. Running away is useless too ~~~~
Cale age 23 had enough.
His friends slowly became too much. Clopeh just build a whole ducking bar, just so they had an establishment where Cale could drink for free in which they didn’t need to create a tab for him specifically.
Truly he found it sweet in a way, but he truly felt a bit stuffocated too.
As a result, he ran away, leaving a letter to his family in which he announced that he would go on a journey for today.
Well, that couldn’t be called running away but he did not want to worry his friends and family too much. Which in turn made him take a Me-day.
As he entered the spa (he checked it had no connection to his friends or family), he looked around. It seemed like a nice place to relax at, it had a good atmosphere.
Walking up to the reception he smiled at the receptionist “Excuse me, I would like to get one anti-stress massage, the one including head, neck and back.”
The receptionist smiled friendly “Sure mister please leave hand me your ID.”
Cale handed her his ID and took the bracelet she handed him and put it around his arm.
After checking his ID and filing something on her PC the woman explained “This bracelet includes a transmitter which will allow you to enter the areas you booked massage will be given and the cafeteria. There you can use it to pay. When you are done, you will have to remove the bracelet and put it in that box there. After that we will scan the transmitter and it will generate the bill you have to pay. Any questions Mister Henituse?”
“No thank you.”
-----
‘Ah that was the most relaxing day in weeks’ he thought as he handed the receptionist his bracelet he waited for the bill.
The receptionist exclaimed in surprise “Mr. Henituse someone already settled the account for your transmitter or better they paid more than you could spent.”
He grumbled in annoyance and excused himself.
~~~~ 4. His family was evil too ~~~~

Cale asked his father about tips regarding investment. He wanted to drabble in the business world a bit and found out that the stock market seemed to be the least time-consuming option.

“You want to drabble in the stock market?” his father questioned him disbelieving.

“Yes, but do not worry father. I have no interest in the company.”

Deruth grumbled a bit disheartened that his son thought this was the thing he worried about but quickly followed up “I know. I was more surprised by the fact that you want to do something business like at all.”

Cale shrugged his shoulder slightly amused “What can I do it just sounded like something fun to try.”

Deruth observed his sons nonchalant but determined manner and a slight smile appeared on his face “Then let me explain to you the basics.”

Cale stat beside his father, and eagerly listened to the others explanation.

They finished talking just when Ron nocked on the door to inform them that the dinner was ready.

The next day Cale entered his father’s office again and asked, “Why did you call me?”

“Cale dear, Violan and me created this for you after our talk yesterday. I hope it will help you and that you will have fun dabbling in the stock market.”

What Deruth handed him after saying that were a new bank account and a few documents which transferred a few shares of different companies to him.

Deruth explained “The bank account is for your business money, so that it does not accidentally mixes with your pocket money. And those are some promising shares I had in my possession; do not worry they were useless for me.”

Cale thanked his father with a smile but internally he was screaming.

~~~~ + 1: The one time he paid ~~~~
Cage marched up and down in the corridor. Anxiously she muttered “The doctors say if Taylor doesn’t get the operation within a week, it could be too late. He could be disabled … damn that bastard Venion.”
Through the glass window she looked at the sleeping Taylor who was still asleep.
Cale watched distressed for both of his friends as Cage ran herself into a corner. He knew she had now way to get the money needed for this operation in one week, so he slowly moved towards her.
 “About the money…”
Cage hugged him slightly shaking “I will disband our group it should bring enough,” she sobbed “Cale it is my fault that this happened. If I hadn’t dragged Taylor out to go to the fitness centre, he would still be safe and sound at home. If I hadn’t –“
“Cage stop.” He interrupted her and then softly admonished his hysterical friend “None of this is your fault. Venion would have found another way to hurt him regardless. And about the operation don’t worry I will pay for it.”
Cage shook her head “I can’t let you pay,” She said softly her voice trembling “We haven’t known each other long enough for you to pay such a hefty sum.”
The red head tightened his arms around her “Cage while we only know each other for four months I can honestly tell you: you have become more of a sister to me than my blood related one is. Taylor also became a very important friend. For me he resembles the older brother I never had. I have enough money. Let me pay for this ok.”
She let him go and mumbled “let me think about it for an hour.”
Cale quietly gave his consent and waited.
After an hour Cage came to him with a cheque and explained in a soft voice “This is a bit more than needed for the operation, but it would ensure a better aftercare.”
Cale did not even look at the number he just singed the cheque.
Cage scolded him “Look at what number you give away before singing,” but she still gave his hand a thankful squeeze before taking the cheque to find the doctor.
Bonus (But actually part of it):
“Life is what happens to you while you’re busy making other plans, huh” as Cale said that sentence out aloud, he wondered could it be used to describe his financial situation in a way? He took a short look at the account statement he just got and the horrendous number on it. ‘Yes, it could’ he decided while counting the zeros, ‘more than a few billion, urg nearing a trillion already huh.’
It was not that he didn’t want to use his money, nor that he did not created plans on how to spend it, but his friends never let him pay anything. And he meant anything. This trend started with Amiru who was the only one to do so till he befriended Cage and Taylor who in turn infected everyone, and he meant everyone. He didn’t even know why his father still paid him pocket money in monthly and weekly instalments depending on his mood. Firstly, he was 24 and secondly, he was literally unable to use anything of it since he turned 17.
And don’t get him started on his business account.
