Marinette, quite frankly, was bored. It was a Saturday night, and instead of hanging out with Alya or any of her other friends, she was stuck at home. That was the down fall of being the only single friend amongst her closest friends. Alya and Nino had plans, Juleka and Rose were on their honeymoon, Mylene and Ivan were visiting Mylene’s parents, Alix, the only one not interested in relationships, was going to the arcade with Max, Kim, and Ondine, and Adrien was studying for an upcoming test with Kagami’s help.
Her stomach grumbled and she sighed. She was feeling particularly lazy and didn’t want to cook. Stopping herself from more mindless scrolling, she decided to order a pizza online. When she got to the box that asked if she had any special instructions, she paused. An idea popped into her head, and she smirked, typing, “Send me your cutest delivery person.” Hopefully, that would make her night a little more interesting.
Luka was waiting for the next delivery, helping at the cashier. There was a loud crash from the kitchen, then a strangled yell. Apologizing to the customer he’d been helping, he handed them their pizza and went to investigate as soon as they were gone. At least it wasn’t too busy by that time in the night.
“Obviously, I’m the cutest delivery guy,” Wayhem huffed. “Whoever it is, is asking for me.”
Nathaniel shook his head, “Why do you even wanna go? What if the person is a weird old man?”
Aurore scoffed, crossing her arms, “And what if they’re a super cute person around our age?”She turned to face Wayhem pointedly, “And they said delivery person, not guy, so I think I would be that person.”
Luka watched the exchange, mildly amused, “Ok, what happened?”
Nathaniel heaved a sigh, “Someone said to send our cutest delivery person in the special instructions box.” He waved his hands vaguely between Aurore and Wayhem, “And now we have this.”
Luka nodded slowly. That made sense. It hadn’t exactly been the first time something like that had happened. Each time, it was when different people had their shift, but there was always an argument that came with the request.
Suddenly, Nathaniel’s eyes lit up. He talked in a quiet voice, which was hard to hear as Aurore and Wayhem were still bickering, “Hey, you’re a delivery person, why don’t you go?”
Well, it would solve the problem. The two bickering delivery people wouldn’t even notice because they were too busy arguing. With a shrug, Luka agreed. He took the pizza, pulled up the address, and got on the delivery motorcycle. Whoever it was that had those instructions, he was curious to meet them.
Marinette checked the time again. Wasn’t the pizza supposed to be there ten minutes prior? It was getting late and she was pretty hungry. She hadn’t changed the clothes she’d been wearing all day, but it wasn’t like they were cute. Just her favorite Jagged Stone t-shirt, some shorts, and knee length socks. Not that it mattered. It was just a pizza delivery person.
There was a knock on apartment her door, then the doorbell rang. She scrambled off the couch, and hastily opened the door. She hoped the pizza was good; she’d never ordered from that place before. When she stared up at the pizza delivery person, her heart stuttered.
The young man in front of her was incredibly cute with messy dark hair dyed blue at the tips. Dressed in jeans and a band shirt, he had a kind smile as he said, “Hello, I’m Luka.” Luka. That was a nice name. He told her how much she needed to pay. Right. Food, pizza, need to pay for it. As fumbled for the cash necessary, then she heard his melodic voice speak up again.
“You like Jagged Stone?” He sounded excited. She dared to look up and was almost blinded by his bright smile.
She handed him the money as he gave her the pizza, “Yeah, he’s one of my favorite artists. I plan on seeing him in a couple of months when he gets to Paris for his tour.” Then she realized she never introduced herself. It wasn’t like she needed to, but he’d introduced himself so it was the nice thing to do. “I’m Marinette, by the way.”
“Marinette,” she loved the way her name sounded when he said it, “that’s a nice name. I’m going to that concert, too!” He pocketed the money and was about to leave.
Even in her flustered state, Marinette didn’t want him to go just yet. There was something about him that made her want to get to know him better. “Wait!” He paused, quirking an eyebrow at her. “Uh, can I have your number?”
He smiled, and she prepared to be gently rejected. Instead, he said, “Sure.”
