Chapter 1: Introduction

Chapter Text

After Civil War, everyone who was part of it had moved on with their lives in hopes to forget its events, some having more luck than others.

Peter was working with Tony in his lab, upgrading their suits.

Natasha was on a mission.

Steve was riding his motorcycle aimlessly.

Clint was home, playing with his kids.

Sam was jogging.

Wanda was also home, discussing a book with Vision.

Thor was fighting alongside his friends.

Bucky was in Wakanda, watching after the goats.

Rhodey was testing his new leg braces.

Suddenly, and interrupting everything each one of them was doing, a blinding light appeared and made them all pass out.

Tony was the first to wake up. He got up, assuming he had blacked out while working from the lack of rest, but when he looked around and didn’t see the distinctive white walls or his projects and blue prints scattered around and, more importantly, Peter, he panicked.

He got up and started desperately searching for the boy. “Peter? Kiddo? Are you here?”

“M’s ‘tark?” Asked Peter, still half asleep, who was lying on the floor.

“Oh, thank God.” He said, while checking the kid for injuries.

Said kid, now a bit more awake, looked around, finding the new environment odd. “Mr. Stark, why are we in a movie theater?”

Tony, who had finally taken a moment to look at the room they were in, sighed before answering. “I’m still trying to find out myself, I only woke up a couple of minutes ago. Right now, we need to try to find a way out of here.”

Peter nodded, and the two started looking for any ways to leave, only to find none at all: No doors, no windows, no vents. Even the walls were reinforced, which they found out after Peter tried to punch it repeatedly. Instead of breaking the wall, he ended with a barely cracked wall and bruised knuckles.

They walked back to the movie screen and finally noticed the other unconscious people in the room with them. Tony flinched at the sight of the man who had almost killed him, and the one who killed his parents. He decided to brush those thoughts off, instead looking at the kid who was now trying to wake up Rhodey.

“Peter? Uh, what the hell happened?” He asked, holding his head with one hand.

“We don’t actually know, Mr. Rhodey, we only woke up a little bit ago. Everyone else is still sleeping. There is also no way of getting out, from what we’ve seen.”

Rhodey sat up, noticing who ‘everyone else’ was. “Great, them.”

“Look, Platypus… I know we’re all still dealing with everything that happened, but right now we’re locked in a room with no idea of how to get out, so gotta to put our differences aside and work together to find out how, why and where we are.”

“Right, you’re right. So, do we wake them up or-” His question was interrupted by shuffling coming from behind them. They looked back only to see the others waking up and looking around, obviously confused.

Tony took a step forward towards them and spoke up. “Before you start with the questions, let me explain what we know for now: We all woke up in this… movie theater, I think, though none of us know how. There are no doors, or windows, or pretty much any way to get out and-“

“Mr. Stark, I found a weird note!” Peter yells from the other side of the room.

“Tony, who’s that again?” Clint asked, confused about why a kid would be brought there with them.

“That’s Peter, he’s my personal intern” He answered, already walking up to Peter.

“What does it say?” Steve asked, implying for Tony to read it out loud.

Hello. I know you all probably have a lot of questions, and I apologize for bringing you here so suddenly, but a threat is coming, worse than anything you've fought before, and I need to prepare you for it.

In the future, a villain called Thanos is going to use the power of The Infinity Stones to erase half of the population of the Universe and, fortunately, you are able to reverse it and bring almost everyone back, but for that you end up having to travel back in time, which leads to the events I'm going to be showing you.

Some of you die during that, and you can't defeat the threat that I'm talking about without those who died, so I'm going to show you what you'll be dealing with, so that you can be ready for it.

In the meantime, I hope you will also be able to forgive one of those who wronged you in the past, because they will be the key to win.

Right now you are in my pocket dimension, and time is paused outside, so you don’t need to worry. Food will appear when needed.

If you have questions about anything you’ll see, I left various pre-recorded messages explaining everything I thought you may want to know, so don’t hesitate to ask.

Don’t forget, this is our last chance of stopping something that can destroy the Universe for good. I will send you back when I deem you ready.

I will be hoping for the best, good luck. I.P.”

Everyone gulped. “So, should we do what they’re asking? This could be a trap.” Sam asks.

“I think we should. I mean, if they wanted to hurt us, I don’t see why they wouldn’t have done it by now. For now, let’s just watch whatever they were talking about and leave.” Tony said, and even though he and everyone else was trying to look strong and nonchalant, all of them were utterly terrified of what had been said on the note.

They all sat in one of the rows in the middle, Team Cap on the left and Team Iron Man and Thor on the right, separated by the stairs that led up and down the room.
