Ink Memories: Photographs Of Our Life

Summary:

It was like celestial magic; how easy it was for him to capture a scene forever in a blank square with just the tap of his index finger over the single button.

What Soobin found the most fascinating wasn't the secrets behind the photographs, but the fact that he had the power to read through the little memories spread out on his hands the truth out of them, like it was nothing.

Because he was part of them, and he was really grateful that his lover shared that same advantage with him: it was their secret language that nobody could ever know.

Notes:

We could say that English isn't my "first" language, so if there's any spelling/grammar errors, that's why :D
Just wanted to write fluff Yeonbin, so I wrote this, and it was suppose to be 4k words long— I may or may not enter inside this fic a little bit—
There's also little parts with a more of an intimate atmosphere, therefore, the tag, but nothing that specific. Now, enjoy the story!

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Splashes of rain flooded his ear canals. It was good that he checked the weather before leaving for yet another day of classes as the umbrella that held his hand protected him from getting completely wet under the tears of the darkened clouds.

Cars passed close to his figure, causing breezes that disappeared the second later but managed to insert chains of chills down his back. Soobin wondered why he decided to wear lighter clothes even though he knew the drizzle would take reins in the presence of afternoon, although he deduced that the intense rays of the sun with which he was awakened deceived him enough to dismiss some of the advice from the news.

As the flashes of multi colours and fluorescent colours belonging to the vehicles travelled across the flood, which made sure to spread its corruption over the roads and throughout the twilight city, Soobin found himself looking above, more above that the few people floating past him on the sidewalk were ignorant to.

Hidden under the shadows created by the trees, across the ghost-vehicles road, a looking-male individual crawled his way through the sidewalk. Drenched in abundant water, he moved at a rather slow pace despite being drowned in sharp, icy raindrops; almost looking as he had given up any hope of returning home dry and letting the overwhelmed clouds part above him, permitting them to pour their sea of sorrow onto him.

Soobin watched the figure advance at his own rhythm; by the way his body was hunching forward at times or caught him bracing himself even with the distance between them, he knew that the other male was feeling cold, logically, but still he didn’t seem to try to put a remedy to that. The stranger would catch a cold if he stayed longer under the rain; however, that thought didn't satisfy Soobin’s concern.

The dimpled male looked at both endings of the road: not a vehicle on sight. A lump made its way to his throat, even so, he managed to gulp down saliva and quickly run across the pavement, the weight of his body creating an endless cycle of splashes filling his eardrums.

He reached his goal seconds later; landing on the edge of the other sidewalk and almost being brushed away when a truck shot itself vigorously behind his back, which Soobin only found the capability to flinch in his place, his hand strangling the metal bar of the umbrella.

He didn’t knew when the sudden rush of adrenaline took control over him after almost seeing himself in a fatal accident, or where did it even came from; sparkling his tensed muscles to function and pumping thrill around his blood, but he could blame it on that unusual reaction of his for which he began to jog at an accelerating velocity in the same direction of the male, who was overtaking his pace by a few meters.

Quickly, Soobin located himself walking next to the stranger, giving him shelter with his umbrella as he saw him shrink to find some warmth back to his numb muscles.

For some reason, he perceived the obliviousness of the other somehow cute because the auburn male —he later confirmed— still didn't notice the rain not hitting him or even his presence walking by his side.

They stopped under a tree, any sound of boots colliding against the pavement cut shut. Only Soobin remained steady on his feet as the stranger first did so and reached his hand out, finally realizing the umbrella on top of him when he looked up.

He observed with attentive eyes the stranger watching the black object covering him for what seemed an eternity before he turned in his direction, which simply put Soobin on a trance from the appearance of the other.

The male in front of him was gorgeous. His lashes gleamed through curtains of raindrops lingering on the curled, black threads. They wrapped themselves around a pair of warm, brown fox-like eyes that were watching him carefully yet surprisingly because of his presence. His cheeks looked soft to the touch, lighted by a subtle pink, and the most voluminous and plumpest lips Soobin ever seen settled on the male's face, prettiest pink tinting them as they joined in an alluring pout, which really attracted the tallest's attention.

The stranger was only capable of bowing down to the ravenette, confusion painting on his face full of falling raindrops.

“Thanks…”

Despite the shortest said a single word, Soobin was still able to admire the beautiful voice that matched the male's unreal beauty. Sweet as honey voice that he could almost savour it in the air, velvet tone ringing out of his vocal chords and rolling out of his tongue majestically, and that special ring in his medium-deep voice that it sounded like the stranger sang that gratitude to him in such angelic way that had Soobin in a hazy state of mind for a solid second.

Silence as thick as the fog surrounding them presented itself in their attempt of conversation. Out of awkwardness, the stranger nibbled his bottom lip, drawing the pinkish flesh with his teeth inside his mouth while he carded his bangs behind his ear; all of the actions made as he looked away from the taller.

That particular reaction of the other had Soobin unable to remove his gaze from those bulky pair of lips. Scratch that— it was impossible because of the fuzzy feeling from his heart skipping some beats.

“No need to thank.” Soobin archived to say, sincere smile on display, and closed distance between themselves to cover the shorter male.

When he saw the other occupying some of his personal space in order to shield from the rain, he smiled down to the auburn after said male lifted his gaze to him, this time, roundish cat-like eyes examining him as his eyebrows raised slowly in question.

“Shall we get going?”

That sudden request caught-off guard the stranger, but still nodded, movement almost unnoticeable along with a hum coming from his throat: rich and melodic.

The ravenette followed the shorter male as he started walking yet again, shoulders brushing against the other and pouring rain filling their atmosphere.

Despite their travel fulfilled with silence as the protagonist, it wasn't uncomfortable or foreign to them. Instead, it lingered with calmness, not in the need of adding any trivial topic to eradicate the gentle orchestra made by nature.

As Soobin observed the bright, red symbol change to a green orb permitting pedestrians to cross the road, he had the feeling that they would soon depart, just because he didn't have to take the zebra crossing to reach his home, yet the other seemed like he had to.

“I guess this is the end of the walk.” The male ranted out, fox eyes blinking up to Soobin and sinking into his mere soul, “I have to cross the road and call for a taxi from now onwards.”

“Then, we have to take different paths.” Soobin continued the other's unpronounced farewell, his voice cracking a bit. He swallowed the lump tying his vocal chords, so that his lips could form a smile without first trembling, “Do you want me to wait while you call the taxi? So you don't have to wait under the rain.”

“No need, thanks.” He responded just as quickly, shaking his head. The auburn smiled, soft cheeks accentuating under the force from the corners of his mouth, “Thanks for the offer, anyways. I also wanted to thank you for shielding me from the rain.”

This time, it was Soobin who shook his head.

“It wasn't a problem. I didn't want you to catch a cold.” He confessed, and captured how the shorter's ears tinted themselves in a deep red as he looked away; the definition of shyness beaming on the way he reached his hand to cover his face.

“Thanks.” The stranger muttered, turning around at Soobin, so that he could watch the same pretty pink dusting his apple-like cheekbones. Before the ravenette could pass at cloud nine from the beauty of the auburn, said male talked again, “I hope we meet again…”

“Soobin. Choi Soobin.” He added at his vague silence, in which the other’s gaze lighted up, “And I also wish we meet again.”

Soobin knew his tone came out too hopefully, but he couldn't bring himself to pity his self state on wishing upon meeting again the gorgeous male when he smiled at him, perfect teeth showing off and plump lips molding into a scintillating, predatory yet charming smile.

Extending his hand out towards Soobin, the rain and cars ghosted behind like rays of multiple colors blurring as background while a spot of light placed itself on the male, making even nature jealous of how easily he attracted the attention of other pedestrians passing by. With raindrops falling like snowflakes from his face, his lashes shining as millions of stars danced in the universe of warm, brown eyes crinkled in happy curves, his litted, lovely, red velvet tinted cheeks, and a breath-taking grin blooming on his pinkish lips, the auburn said:

“Choi Yeonjun, that's my name. Until then, I will gladly wait for you, Soobin.”

Their encounter finished with both Soobin and the newly presented, Yeonjun, shaking hands in a pact of keeping promises, smiles exchanged during that brief skin contact.

Soobin really tried to not swoop under the spell that Yeonjun had charmed him so easily that it was embarrassing. Yet, that was impossible to not do it when he had such a beautiful male with a beautiful name, beautiful smile and a perfect personality standing right in front of him.

He also watched the auburn angel reincarnated into a perfect human ceremonially making his way through the street to step on the other side. Contemplated how Yeonjun covered himself with his jacket as he talked through his phone, requesting his taxi back home. Admired how the rain dripping down his clothes made him look unreal, how it felt like Yeonjun carried his own presence in that pavement, his unique light among the people going by. How said male spent his waiting time looking at Soobin steadily, about reaching the level of fondness, smiling at him or either waving at his direction, gesture tiny and coy.

Soobin observed the taxi parking next to Yeonjun, the male entering the vehicle, him lowering the window to bid farewell with his hand and smile intact, and him being carried away into the deepest of the thick fog.

When he lost view of the yellowish car, the ravenette gripped his umbrella as he pressed his lips in a thin line. Feeling his chest heavy and lingering want tickling on the tips of his fingers, Soobin turned around and headed the opposite direction in which he accompanied that unreal human being.

Fun fact: Soobin found himself gazing behind every time in a while during the minutes he used to leave that bustling street; in where Yeonjun disappeared beyond coarse, greyish smoke.

After that first meet-up, almost as if destiny itself watched the encounter between both males and perceived the connection tying around their pinkie fingers, the next day Soobin waited on the same bus spot under the soft sounds of rain splashing against cement and looked forward, he was surprised to exchange glances with Yeonjun on the other side of the road: soaked in water to his feet yet a smile on his face.

In every occasion they met, it turned out with Soobin running across the road, reaching the other side of the pavement and shielding Yeonjun from the rain while a smile bloomed on his face, which was always reciprocated by the older as he stepped closer to the taller male. He would laugh brightly whenever he saw the taller male judge him through his eyes for being drowned in raindrops each time they met.

Their relationship started like that; with the rain as the protagonist of their little flourishing story.

Days went as weeks and Soobin would admit that he always waited anxiously on the bus stop to meet again the breath-taking auburn leaking in crystalline raindrops.

His wishes always came to pass when every time the last truck passed by, said male appeared behind it, a smile on his lips, hair flatted down on his forehead and waving hand in his direction. He would do his habit in meeting up the older and covering him with his umbrella, yet as he stood next to Yeonjun one day and saw his eyes twinkling by the water drops attached to his lashes, his heartbeat picked up a different rhythm.

Maybe, it was from that accelerating beat of his heart, but Soobin found himself speaking out loud:

“I would like to meet you in different situations, hyung. Can we go out to learn about each other more personally?”

With the toothed smile that made Yeonjun's gaze turn into grinny curves, Soobin knew it was going to be the start of a beautiful thing.

They did as they agreed to: they exchanged each other's contacts and promised to plan their first date as official friends. Through new acknowledgment of their partners, shy smiles, coy glances and abundant laughs, they began as good as the next dates in the future.

Soobin even presented Yeonjun to his group of friends: Beomgyu, Taehyun and Huening. He could say it went alright: the youngest of them tackling Yeonjun down to his lounge's ground to rub his belly; Beomgyu asking him from random questions to some very intimate and inappropriate ones that had both of his lovers hitting him on the head —but, Soobin was busy watching the pretty scarlet staining Yeonjun's cheeks—; and Taehyun expanding his knowledge on themes that even Soobin didn't know.

They also agreed together to meet in future plans.

Weeks transformed into months and went by; summer hiding behind the incoming autumn.

One more time, the rain was the main focus on that day where both males ran under the tallest's umbrella, heavy gasps fogging their view by whitish steam while their hasty steps ringed throughout the street, along with the splashes of the weather beneath their weight.

As they caught sight of the bus bringing itself back to life and its motors roaring when it began to move forward, they knew that their transport was long gone. Even if they grabbed the bus stop's pole and shouted to the tops of their lungs for the vehicle to come back, their salvation from the worsening of the rain already disappeared behind grey fog and red blinding lights.

It was fruitless their tries, as the bus didn't come back; they already knew it. Because of that, they remained in silence under the din of their rasped breaths and raindrops impacting against the umbrella. That extended silence didn't last long before they began laughing with force, first Yeonjun and later Soobin joining the older in their fit of laughter.

It was magical the moment; everything froze in front of Soobin. The laughs of them both ringing in their intimate bubble that they shared, linking arms to sustain themselves as they talked through their smiles: no need to talk to figure out what the other's thoughts were.

Soon to their festival of happiness despite the weather continuously worsening, Soobin realized they ended up joining their foreheads together, converting their puffs of air into their little headspace.

The dimpled male supposed it happened because of him, in order to protect Yeonjun from the rain, who was moving far from his reach while he laughed loudly.

One moment, Yeonjun was leaning in, hand carding through the strands behind Soobin's head and white steams blocking their view. And then, they were both being soaked in water, umbrella forgotten on the pavement as they shared their first kiss under the rain.

When the plumpness of Yeonjun's lips met his own and the ocean that poured the clouds drenched his entire being, Soobin understood why the older always let himself be exposed to the rain.

It was like he was being washed for the insides; his soul felt as it was being hydrated from the water that nature gave him, and while his head felt lightheaded from the numbness of his body caused by the rain, Soobin let himself being pulled by Yeonjun and deepen the kiss, molding their lips together.

His lips tasted like strawberries and sweet honey, which lingered along with a spicy saltiness from the raindrops that had Soobin wanting more from Yeonjun.

The timid touches brushing his top lip from the other's tongue pointed how the older also wanted more, and so, he parted his lips, meeting Yeonjun's almost immediately and his hotted breaths against his.

Not long after, they discovered the words their tongues wanted to roll out between their gentle dance, those things that so ached their hearts to pour out expressing themselves as heavy clicks, shaky exhales and soft whimpers from their throats.

Even after they broke the kiss and breathed on each other's space, Soobin still felt floating on cloud nine. Still could savour the sweetness of it at the tip of his tongue, the presence of Yeonjun burning inside his mouth and sealed on his lips, and the electric shocks coursing through his body until it made his legs tremble and give up to the overwhelming feeling.

Yeonjun was quick to catch him; strong arms bracing Soobin's unstable body while he supported himself on his shoulder, and his faltering laughs showed how affected he was also from the kiss.

The ravenette's head was a pool of so many feelings that it was impossible to name them all. But, soon as the older started to talk with his shaky yet dulcet voice, he swore he was going to faint right in the other's embrace.

“I know we just met not so long ago, maybe half a year before, but we always meet under the rain.” He chuckled, light and melodic, “I really wish to experience these types of intimate moments with you— with us, Soobin-ah. And share more memories under the rain, like now, just like I wish for this in the future also.”

A warm hand was placed on his cheek before it grabbed his chin and made Soobin meet up Yeonjun's gaze. And with the way his eyes shone with brightness from the raindrops on his lashes along with their own light, it took Soobin's breath more than it was.

“So, will you grant my wish of becoming my boyfriend, Choi Soobin?”

To which, Soobin didn't even have to think twice before gripping the collar of his jacket and kissing Yeonjun right on the lips, a more-than-enough answer as the lips he was already addicted to formed the most beautiful smile he ever saw and felt against his in his whole life.

That day ended up in a development between them throughout the hours they decided to spend together in Yeonjun's house, where it finished with both on said male's bed quietly confessing their love at the light of the moonlight with shared and desired kisses and touches as their hands intertwined in a silent promise of being together in all forms for all eternity.

It also marked the start of the learning and admiration of each other's small things and habits.

Yeonjun's laughs were the medicine he needed whenever he would put himself under a mountain of stress due to his studies, and the comfort he longed for when he felt disappointed in himself at his lack of effort in his works, even if the older told him each time that it was perfect the way it was. Just as his laughs helped him to instantly light up his mood and believe in his own capability if he saw the bright smile it gave away with those melodic sounds.

If the giggles the older always tried to suppress behind the back of his hand as he looked away were his favourite sounds from the male, then, his yelps and moans that left his plump lips were Soobin's desired music to play and hear at the display of the moonlight.

He admired each sound of his as if they were a treasure to seek for and keep protectively: engraving them into his brain and printing them with fire in his heart. Listening to Yeonjun's breathy voice responding positively on how much he enjoyed his presence in his body fuelled his soul with desire, and he would reward every time the angel under him by drinking in his little sounds and getting drunk on him, his own name rolled out of the older's tongue and escaping his mouth in hot-breathed rants blurring his mind and being drown off by his own lips. It would always end up with both of them muttering each other's names against their mouths as they join in one soul and body.

Soobin especially admired Yeonjun's little sounds when he let himself being carried, letting himself being protected by his hyung; his velvet tone brushing his ears, filling him with sweet nothings and praises near his lobe, and whispering millions promises with an "I love you" in the front of his letters, Soobin being its destined and the kisses planted on his lips the seal of them.

He loved how Yeonjun tried to imply his words physically or verbally: throughout simple actions as hugging him, pampering him every time or doing breakfast for him with a smile to writing letters that expressed his feelings, repeating the three-especial words or by plainly kissing him until he couldn't handle more sugar doses from the older.

It was intoxicating how the older was to Soobin, numbing him into a black canvas where Yeonjun was his only star: his only focus of attention.

Inside his heart was the desire to take from his hyung: taking everything he gave him, taking every breath he would let out between kisses, taking every caress that burned his skin; taking, taking, taking all from him while he gave himself whole to Yeonjun.

He gave himself up to the shorter male: his time, his body, his mind, his words, everything he had within him just as Yeonjun did the same for him.

So, Soobin would give out the best of himself so that he could take the best of Yeonjun's self.

With that, Soobin focused more on giving his time to make sure Yeonjun knew he loved him with every fibre of his heart even if he wasn't as clear or confident as the older was. Instead, he confessed his feelings in a more subtle, quiet way: making his lunch for the next day; waking him up through his favourite playlist to bring a smile on his face first thing in the morning; back-hugging him when he was cooking while peppering kisses on his neck that had him laughing out loud; hiding letters inside his backpack, lunchbox, desktop and all places that he usually seek for so that he could read them; or sneaking between his arms as they slept together and bid him a good night through a delicate kiss.

And Soobin knew that his messages were very clear when each time he was greeted by a blinding smile and a pair of pink dusted cheeks from Yeonjun.

Time went by, their relationship was blooming as the seasons went by with a blink; where they created a stronger bond between them through merging their souls in one at bed, creating new experiences across dates, and visiting each other's relatives, who were more than welcomed to meet again the man that was making their sons happier than ever.

To which leads to the present day.

It may have looked like a normal and repetitive occurrence that easily snatched all hopes from the children of enjoying the floral mindset on which April bloomed itself in pretty, colourful nature as the city was covered by a blanket of negativity and glumness. Lacking the usual, brightful atmosphere that spring would present through sun rays and happy peeps of birds, it almost looked as if Seoul was trapped on an eternal winter; icy wind knocking at houses’ windows and heavy rain still accompanying the solemn hours of the station.

Yet, that somber mood spread across the university didn’t affect Soobin on any occasion of the day while he archived all data possible in his brain and advanced through his classes. Because the smile attached to his face and sewn at the corners of his lips never moved from its position; shining as equally as expensive relics.

His level of endorphins increased to the point of being able to reach the sky when the door of their apartment opened itself, welcoming the angel-of-a person. Soobin’s dark, tourmaline eyes sparkled as they reflected the glow which wrapped itself around the male’s being, illuminating the surroundings of the place with just taking a step inside.

The ravenette was already walking closer to the angelical individual from his spot on the sofa when the older closed the door; marking his presence in his natural habitat. After he let his bag drop down his arm, they both locked eyes almost immediately, and Soobin could perceive the brightness irradiating out of his boyfriend.

See the shiny, golden halo floating above the ocean of his head as cosmic particles sprinkled on top of it, glittering the human being entirely; contemplated the whitish, cotton-like feathers extend into a pair of flexible, magnificent wings behind his back, batting its bones to show Soobin the privilege he has of dating someone as unreal as Choi Yeonjun.

He was indeed dating an angel.

Yeonjun looked at him, really looked at Soobin, his crystalline gaze rememorizing each depth, slope, and feature of his boyfriend’s face. He then looked at his eyes, steadily, blinking up at him as he captured that familiar twinkle the taller knew burned inside his gaze, and later reflected that passionate gloss on his own: brown eyes converting into that loveful universe that Soobin would always lose himself in the paradise of stars, planets and galaxies.

Yeonjun looked through Soobin’s soul; saw the trail of memories across the transparent glass which composed the ravenette’s being, noticed the desire and want glossing his pure soul being reflected back at him, perceive his overwhelmed happiness at just his sight, or the fact that he could touch him right there, right now.

For that, a smile bloomed on Yeonjun’s lips, just as bright that could exceed even the lightness of the Sun. With a soft tilt of his head, his ocean-like bangs covered the universe of his gaze, and Soobin noticed his conscience being drowned along the stars of warm, vivid space dust, as said galactical place proceeded to intensify their visual contact by snatching more of their shared space.

Soon to his discontent, Soobin’s escape from the everlasting hands of magic was found on the firm touch against his lips; Yeonjun sealing both of them together through a kiss. His delicate hand cupped his cheek to ground him back to Earth, as he knew the ravenette had the capability to fall into his little paradise from just kissing him.

The lingering sweetness of his boyfriend’s strawberry lipstick knocked the taller’s moral senses with such easiness that he felt his legs were about to give up at the feeling of Yeonjun burning in his interior. It was like a drug addiction; his lover’s mouth had the same plumpness and thickness, and the sensation numbing Soobin’s body was as he was kissing heaven itself: cotton-like, dulcet clouds moulded into a pair of electrifying and thick-as-honey lips melting their sugar-coated presence upon his tongue; swallowing the mellowness of the enticing angel’s caramel with the help of his tongue as it created a hypnotic dance tangling with his; and escalating more in that cloud nine where his mind floated very far away.

After the minute they spent expressing their want in every way humanly possible through the union of theirs, they broke up the oral contact between them, and breathed in each other’s space, recovering from the fast pace in which their hearts beat along on one same rhythm.

Soobin had to maintain his eyes closed, just to avoid his own downfall at the sight of the swollen, cherry-red lips of the shorter, tagging along with his ruined expression from their harsh and rooting-want kiss. Alas, he was condemned as he breathed in the presence of the forest, the high-way to the heaven’s doors, the smell of home from Yeonjun each time he inhaled, and the ravenette hid himself under his embrace; under the roof where the other half of his heart waited for him with a mother-like hug.

He still wonders how he is still conscious after being kissed by such an angel as the older was.

“I’m finally home, Binnie.” Yeonjun had said, his spit-clotted lips forming that breath-taking smile, warm puffs tickling his own, and a pair of roundish, brown eyes looking at him with so much affection.

The taller only closed his eyes yet again as both of his cheeks were sustained like his face was a piece of great art, and his lips locked with the older’s ones the palette that Yeonjun needed to paint the brightful canvas on his eyes, the loveful stare on his face, and the pink dye on his cheeks. So, he parted his mouth, letting the expert find the right places inside his cavity to erupt any reaction out of him and convert him into the artwork that the shorter would admire every, single second.

His mind felt dizzy, and so his immune system didn’t control the white-hotted yet familiar fire eating all across its way, flaring the pit of his abdomen and producing those reactions on his body that had him wanting more of Yeonjun’s presence in him.

By the time Soobin realized it, they were both on their shared bed, intertwining hands as they promised an infinite “I love you” through kisses and their carnal connection; linked as one body and one soul. Soon to his thoughts, he really became Yeonjun’s canvas to draw on: his fingers travelling and touching the parts of his body where he knew Soobin would enter in that foggy state of mind; his lips investigating and memorizing every detail of his anatomy by touch as he muttered more promises that were sealed with a kiss of his; and choosing the suitable rhythm while he worked on him so good that had the taller reduced on the bunch of incoherent, trembling and fascinating mess Yeonjun wanted to see him the most.

They finally had time for both of them, and so, they argued about the methods they would use to spend it more efficiently. After some trivial arguments and resolutions of same inoffensive fights based on rounds of kisses that lead them too far away from the topics, they decided their way of sharing quality time with the other as they usually did: dates.

So, it wasn’t a surprise that the location of their first date after weeks of hard study and exhausting exams was going to be somewhere unique; a natural oriel surrounded by large trees that marked the limits of the place, and situated at the foot of the cliff, which was secured by yellow tapes to prevent any accident from tourists.

Of course Yeonjun would choose a place like this one: he was the romantic type of partner that wanted their dates to occur in special places. Additionally, he even chose an outdoor oriel, filled with nature and nothing more; the favourite scenario for Soobin himself.

He really loved how Yeonjun would consider everything to provide the best day out of not only himself, but for both of them.

As Soobin was guided by the shorter through the delicate grip of their intertwined hands, he could definitely sense the effort his boyfriend put on the place. Just from him insisting on taking his blue polaroid camera, which hanged around his neck preciously; his fancy entrance with pink and red petals road as he waited on his cozy motorbike with a smile; the soft serenade Yeonjun sang while they ridded to their destination —including the times he had kissed him right on the lips as they awaited on the red traffic lights—; to his gentleness as he was guiding him, Soobin knew the pure dedication the other poured to provide the best day for them.

Especially to him, the ravenette realized when he caught sight of the spot where they would sit down and enjoy their loveful atmosphere. Set directly in front of the oriel with a safe distance from the cliff, a picnic blanket was laid down on the grass neatly; its white as snow squares combined with carmine tinted equal shapes that formed a constant patron were sprinkled under a mat of petals with the same colour palette, like the floral road that he stepped on at the entrance of their apartment: the same gesture of love from the older.

At the centre of the mountain of warm flowers, a basket case rested upon it, tempting Soobin’s appetite with the food that the basket probably contained. And to the final touches, the spot was surrounded by little lanterns floating at the branches of the nearest trees, while they emitted their orange brightness from their positions on the grass around the place of the date.

“I know what you’re thinking about, baby.” Yeonjun spoke, smooth as the wind running through his turquoise hair, and as enchanting as the smile on his face, “You don’t need to worry about anything. I made this special for you, I want both of us to enjoy this— for you to enjoy this, so don’t eat your pretty head about the cost of the date or any other thing, okay, bunny?”

Soobin only found himself nodding at his words, speechless at Yeonjun’s capability to read his mind like a book so easily for the umpteenth time during their time of being official. Feeling the heat prickling his cheeks to an endless blush, he silently watched as the blue-haired male brought the back of his hand to his plump lips, depositing a chaste kiss on it, never removing his eyes from him. It caused the colour of his face to be equal to the petals lying on the grass, but at least, Yeonjun didn’t point out —if his teasing smile said otherwise—, and guided them both to the blanket, until they were sitting on it, facing each other.

The older smiled at the taller, cheekbones accentuating under the force of his mouth. He opened up the basket case, showing off the homemade food he cooked along with the drinks and appetizers he brought to have a better combination of dinner. He started to prepare the improvised table, getting little to no help from the younger, as he rejected every one of his offers— “You’re the prince today, I will not let you do anything.” was the response Soobin got each time he wanted to help, and finally gave up with a pout moulding his lips.

After all the food was placed on top of impeccable plates, the dimpled male smiled, already reaching out to grab the chopsticks and dig them into the cheese pool of the tteokbokki the older prepared. However, his hand was smacked away yet again by said older, who clicked his tongue softly as he shook his head, in false disappointment.

“What have I told you, Soobin-ah?” The ravenette couldn’t form any answer, surprised at the contrast of his lover’s demanding tone despite him giving away an amorous smile, “You’re the prince today, so you don’t have to do nothing— literally nothing. I’m in charge of pleasing you and obtaining your enjoyment and happiness from my gift.”

Yeonjun concluded his speech by grabbing the chopsticks trapped under Soobin’s grip, untangling the force of the large fingers delicately before taking the pair of wooden utensils.

Soobin really wondered where his voice had gone to, because he still wasn’t capable of talking back at Yeonjun, but it seemed that his skin still had the power to ignite the places where his touch had left traces of his presence. That included the heat gathering on his face, which didn’t seem to dissipate at any moment onwards.

He listened to the angel chuckling because of his state, saw the crinkles it brought to his eyes and the smile it gave away, the love shining in his gaze as they locked eyes. Without anything to do, the taller accommodated on the picnic blanket, permitting the other to take the small vessel inside their game of ceramics and insert the chopsticks in the tteokbokki, placing the proportion in it.

The older shifted closer to his dongsaeng, lifting the vessel near his mouth as his eyes were occupied at looking and sustaining the rice cake correctly. Content with his presentation, he placed the tips of the chopsticks at his lover’s lips, the smile blossoming on him illuminating his orange-lighted face.

“Open wide, bunny.” He asked, a detectable tone of adoration lingering at the end of his voice, “The prince has to eat his royal dinner, I have to make sure you enjoy it and you are happy, my prince.” Yeonjun enlarged his grin; the exact representation of the word “whipped” found on his loveful expression.

“But, hyung…” Despite the reprimands of the older to not label him with honorifics as they were a couple, and so, there wasn’t levels of power, Soobin brushed that apart, not content with the other’s words, “You also have to enjoy this, not just me—”

In a way to complain silently, not just because he noticed his dongsaeng’s forgetfulness about the honorifics, but also to shut him off of the large speech he was about to say from his words, Yeonjun placed the rice cake inside his mouth, still with the same gentleness.

It had a great effectiveness, as Soobin himself paralyzed instantly, both from the shock of the invasion in his mouth, and the carefulness the other had even with the most dangerous actions. He sent a warnful look towards Yeonjun, who only smiled even bigger at the adorable sight of his inflated cheeks, from the presence of the wooden utensils wrapped around his pouty lips.

“I’m already enjoying this,” The older continued, as he could read the confusion on his boyfriend. That made him chuckle, yearningly, “Because you are here with me, and that’s enough to make me happy.”

Later that the statement finally sinked in his head, the ravenette felt his whole face flare up; the automatic answer of his body to the quick picking on his heartbeat. Despite living inside the environment where Yeonjun would fill him with compliments and confess his thoughts and feelings directly, the warm sensation bubbling in his chest was the same as in the beginning; it was the same as his love for Yeonjun remained everlasting.

The other noticed it, for that, he captured his heated cheek against his hand, raising his head ever so carefully to connect their gazes together. He started to rub the soft skin with the help of his thumb, his grin immovable from his pretty face.

“Now that I resolved your doubts, eat the rice cake. The chopsticks are still in your mouth.” He recalled, to which Soobin blushed even darker, releasing the utensils to chew the tteokbokki as he ignored the fit of laughter Yeonjun was having, probably for his clumsiness.

And it went like that: Yeonjun feeding Soobin the food of his choice though a smile, while also pampering him, praising him from eating his food and cooing about his adorable cheeks puffing out, and the taller receiving all with a bright flush on his face and neck.

Being already full to his limits, he rejected any offer of food from the older, who understood his reason the second later and decided to start eating the food himself. Leaving all the appetizing recipes, the blue-haired male grabbed one of the grapes from the fruit’s branches, inserting it inside his mouth through his pout and munching it, cheekbones accentuating adorably.

Then, Soobin discovered the reason for Yeonjun's constant nagging to bring his polaroid camera. As he looked at said male eating his grapes in peace, he contemplated the sunset occurring behind him; the warm hues of red, orange and yellow lights dancing beautifully on his perfect side profile and contrasting the slope of his nose, the depth of his cheek and the puffiness on his ducky lips as he ate: they looked like an adorable duck’s mouth.

Along with the colours bathing his ocean hair and reflecting in the universe of his eye, it gave the taller the answer to his question: the camera was to capture this, to capture them, every beautiful moment of the date, and to conserve it forever in small, rectangular printed photographs inside of their journey of live and love.

With the maximum speed that he could but still being sneaky, Soobin held his polaroid camera, delicately; it was his most precious object, and thus, an important part of his life. Although it was not as important as Yeonjun was.

He closed his right eye after placing the viewfinder of the object in front of him, choosing the focus for the lens and marking some distance to get a full-shot photograph. Inevitably, the dimpled male smiled as he saw his boyfriend through the viewfinder, because the filter that came with the settings really captured the beauty of the angel, the angel that he could proudly say to the world that was his, and vice versa.

A ray of white light teared across the place, before the clicking sound drowned under the chirps of birds and nature. Not caring about the lack of caution when taking the photo, the ravenette turned his polaroid around, in time to catch the printed image coming out of its grill.

Looking at the result, he smiled, proud of inking the beautifulness of the scenery along with the unreal prettiness in which Yeonjun glowed in the picture. Treating it like a rare treasure —it was—, he kept the picture inside the small backpack he brought along, sliding it into the ocean of printed memories.

Satisfied at his result, he grabbed his polaroid for yet another picture of his boyfriend eating peacefully, and as he focused the view of point of his next picture, Soobin couldn’t help but to always find the obliviousness of Yeonjun adorable, as he didn’t realize the photo shooting occurring in that moment. Even when he was the protagonist of all his pictures.

He may have overestimated his hyung’s attention, because the second before he pressed the button of the polaroid, Yeonjun turned in his direction, intense gaze passing through the lenses and connecting with his lover’s widen eyes, burning holes in his soul.

The flash of the camera snapped inevitably across the place, exposing Soobin further in his non-consensual photo shooting and settling a tense silence between them, at least, it was uneasy for the ravenette. But, he was occupied with maintaining his mouth wide open, just as his eyes behind the polaroid, as he still tried to comprehend the lovely result from the sudden change of attention by the older towards him, creating a scene that was impossibly beautiful and making Yeonjun’s prettiness more unreal.

His shock was clearly transmitted through his expression along with the redness on his cheeks, as he lowered the blue object and took the picture imprinted with shaky hands, still unable to remove his eyes from the photograph, which tinted the scene forever on the small rectangle.

Soobin gulped, at a loss for words. Still feeling his lover’s gaze nailed on his forehead, he couldn’t shy away from him, so he lifted his eyes to him, nibbling his lower lip coyly. To his surprise, Yeonjun was smiling back at him, but his gaze sparkled with something hidden, maliciously; resembling a cat’s eyes watching its prey fall down to its own trap.

“My prince,” he singsonged, the sweetness of it contradicting the smirk ghosting his lips, “Were you taking me photos while I was eating, his majesty?” The older male leaned on his arm, breaking inside his dongsaeng’s personal space to graze over his lips, eyes watching the alluring pout before fixing them on the other’s, intensely.

The taller gulped yet again when he saw the older tilting his head, letting his oceanic bangs cover his gaze and highlight the playful glow dancing in his foxish eyes. He opened and closed his mouth repeatedly, gaping around unpronounced words as his hands tried to gesture his answer that didn’t exist in his brain. Nevertheless, his lips were pinned together by the other’s fingers pushing his chin up, meeting their visual connection correctly, and Soobin notice it began to quiver under the pressure, both from his attempts to talk and his hyung’s nose rubbing against his after taking more of his space.

“Did my prince forgotten his words?” He inquired, without any harm detectable on his teasing tone, yet maliciousness appearing on his characteristic predatory smile, “Am I so handsome that my prince can’t stop taking pictures of me and keeping them for his collection?” He released a hum, as if daring him to speak up.

Soobin felt his whole face flare up, the strong heat gathering on his cheeks being the solemn response from his own embarrassment. Yet, despite the display of red on him and his shyness while lowering his gaze, his tongue seemed to have an answer laced around it, and it was said too fast for the taller himself to stop his lips from moving:

“Yes, you are.” That sudden response caught both of them off guard, and it had Yeonjun raising his eyebrow, inquiring him silently to finish his unspoken words. Soobin was a weak man, “I like to take pictures of gorgeous landscapes... but you are more gorgeous, my princess.”

The older only smiled at his words, that evil twinkle remaining in his eyes even when his ears were painted into a deep scarlet, clearly taken back at the nickname, but still playing it off. He was such a good actor, the ravenette thought, as his face burned passionately.

“How come I’m your princess, my prince?” Yeonjun asked, tilting his head while he lifted his boyfriend’s, smiling even bigger at the feeling of him gulping down saliva, “I can’t be a princess for I’m a male, and I can’t accept that title. I’m just a servant, I can’t be your prince...”

“Don’t you dare say that again.” Soobin may have forgotten the little play they were doing, but he ignored his sudden anger when he saw the shocked expression on his hyung’s face, “We are a couple and you are my fiancé, so you are my prince and soon-to-be king. You can’t say you are my servant when we are engaged.” Even if his tone was serious, he didn’t retain the pout moulding his lips, which earned a softened smile from the other.

The shorter male couldn’t help but laugh, his soft laughter puffing out his reddened cheeks from both embarrassment and shyness. Soobin realized for the umpteen time how that pretty colour complemented so beautifully in his lover’s face, along with his grinny eyes looking at him so affectively because of his bright smile.

He felt himself falling in love with Yeonjun even more than he already was.

“You’re so cute, bunny.” Yeonjun cooed, returning the pampering on the ravenette’s heated cheek, before he was leaning in completely, and the taller understood the meaning behind his movement, for he closed his eyes and let himself be guided by the older’s hand.

Fingers found themselves home under Soobin's chin, and the pair of pillowish lips snatched the minimum trajectory to lock mouths with him perfectly; their oral connection being their shared lock and Yeonjun's tongue sliding past his lips the unique key to unlock their mutual heartbeat rhythm and their love paradise.

The ravenette found himself relaxing completely, jaw slack, as he permitted his boyfriend wander his presence in the interiors of his mouth, and he allowed the other’s hand travel from his chin to the back of his neck, pulling him closer to deepen their kiss. Instinctively, he mimicked the same gesture on his hyung’s neck, which pushed out a whimper from his own throat at the given easiness to the shorter to have him melting.

Said male took advantage of that, and Soobin felt intoxicated once again by Yeonjun’s lips, his approving point reflected by his hand gripping the older’s jacket to sustain himself from surrendering totally.

His skin burned wherever place his lover presented his touch and his senses were at fire: it felt as all oxygen was removed from his lungs and replaced with intense heat; the older’s body warmth wrapping itself vividly around him as he moved closer to hover him over; his hand pressing him together to the lips that made him drunk and his mind fuzzy; his grip on the side of his waist to sustain his place over him and grounding him in his place, unable to move at all and letting him suffocate under the heated dominion of Yeonjun.

After Soobin believed he would faint right there, his mouth was left alone, and he had to gasp for air to replenish the amount he lost before. While gripping at his hyung’s broad shoulders, the combination of heavy pants from both of them filled the thick atmosphere, especially his were very loud. Later on, he completed his mission of evening his respiration, which he opened his eyes to look at his boyfriend, who was already directing the gaze back at him.

With nothing to add, he gulped, all words vanished from his brain as he was pinned down by the intensity of Yeonjun’s half lidded look, that was highlighted stronger by the significant sparkle glinting in it when his oceanic bangs covered it. The taller had to admit that his attention was nailed on the older’s swollen lips, just as said male had his on his parted ones, but soon to his daydream of kissing them again, Yeonjun planted another chaste kiss on him, satiating the burning of his abdomen.

Soobin classified his mind as blurry, still trapped in his imaginary headspace, to which Yeonjun noticed that. So, he didn’t argue when the older backed off, far from his reach, and took his hand, intertwining them softly, before making him stand up. He also didn’t argue when he removed his polaroid and left it on the picnic blanket, nor when he kept the rectangular picture in his backpack, only silently watching his hyung gathering their belongings inside their basket case and standing in front of him after doing so.

That smile for which he fell for appeared on his boyfriend’s reddened lips; that scintillating, predatory and charming smile from that day they met for the first time, and Soobin was long gone. He gulped down the lump in his chord vocals, an inevitable response of his body from the homesickness wrapping his memories, and lowering his head, the taller followed his lover’s direction. He didn’t ignore the feeling of acting as his younger self back then: when every gesture of the older directed at him gave him a heart attack, being the boy in love that he was.

They stood at the centre of the lantern-marked circle, orange hues combining beautifully with the reign of the blue hour on the sky; sparkling up its dark canvas, bringing life to its deadly black through the cold tonalities of the sea-like palette, and converting the sky into a small representation of the universe visible to all spectators, including Soobin, who was astonished by watching the brightness of the pretty scene dipping Yeonjun in and showing off his unreal beauty.

He felt breathless all of a sudden, as his face flared up more, making clear his coyness from his boyfriend’s attractiveness.

The taller watched, patiently, how the older fished out his phone from his pocket, thumb energetically swiping up and pressing down the screen as he looked at it with concentration, like the frown wrinkling his forehead showed.

Soon, a soft tune danced along with the calmness of the mood, to which he lifted his head, trying to find the source of the peaceful song caressing his ears. He never knew his boyfriend was that prepared, as he didn’t notice at any moment the speaker that pumped out the melody, for the source came near their previous location. Nevertheless, his mental questioning was cut off by the same male squeezing his hand, drawing back his attention.

Yeonjun wanted to kill him right there, Soobin thought, when he saw the loveful grin he displayed for him, matching with the fondness reflecting in his gaze; he was contemplating him as he was the most beautiful, scintillating, perfect human being he ever laid eyes on. That overwhelming attention from the older brought back his shy self once again.

To add more to his embarrassment, the romantic self of his lover kicked in, and so, Yeonjun took Soobin’s hand into his delicately, securing his grip over him by taking only the tips of his fingers, just as the gentleman he was. Afterwards, he stepped back, before bowing down to him, looking at the flustered male fondly, as the smile with the same magnitude of love widened on his face.

“Will you grant me this dance, Prince Choi Soobin?” He asked, velvet voice rolling out of his smile, and eyes shining as if millions of stars were twinkling in the universe of his.

Completely shy to reject the offering, Soobin only nodded his head, once, twice, at a loss of words. His face was burning hot, but the big smile it gave away from Yeonjun with his response served him to also smile, shyly. Although, the blush on him worsened thanks to his cheeky boyfriend and his novelettish nature, because he was gifted with the gentleness of the older, as he leaned over to kiss the back of his hand, while watching him like he was the most beautiful rose growing in his garden full of love.

He let the blue-haired male guide his hand to be placed at his shoulder, with his finding home at the crook of his waist. They locked gazes soon after, and Soobin did the impossible to breathe again, at the tender sight of Yeonjun looking up at him, sweetly, yearningly, gaze twinkling with prettiness through his ocean bangs, and his smile lifting his blushful cheekbones, illuminating his whole face in a way that showed the adoration he was feeling by just contemplating him.

It was enough for the hammering of his heartbeat to pick up a faster pace against his chest, clobbering insistently, warmly spreading wave after wave through his anatomy of the magical sensation of being watched by Yeonjun, and him only.

The song heighting its volume from its mild tune broke the shared bubble of the couple, and they could only smile at each other, finding their forgetfulness somehow imperfectly perfect, like their quiet laughs filling the ideal atmosphere. Soon, they started swaying to the beat, Yeonjun leading their rhythm and Soobin following suit, their laced hands never losing their grip, as if they were a pair of opposite magnets that infinitely attract each other; just as both will forever be together no matter what: their promise sealed through kisses and carnal connection.

Soobin tried to concentrate on his feet and not step on his boyfriend, but his focus alternated towards the humming toned by Yeonjun, feeling his chest soaring with love as he listened to his hum matching the melody of the song, going an octave lower than it.

He watched him moving them with his eyes closed, humming through a soft smile, and he listened to his smooth tone creating wonders in his heart, ameliorating the serenade even better by just humming it.

Yeonjun just made things better by just existing.

The older's humming transformed into him singing mellowly, velvet tone ringing inside Soobin's eardrums and touching his heart's strings beautifully, making him feel as if he just entered heaven itself through his hyung's voice.

Yeonjun kept singing, wrapping securely the taller's waist as his dulcet tone swayed with them, complementing his special ring in his way of transmitting the song's lyrics; as calm as the ocean tinting his hair, yet as addicting and sweet as honey, which made Soobin's obsession with his lover's voice go worse by the peculiar factor of the deepness colouring each word Yeonjun pronounced.

And the feeling was overwhelming for him, much more that he could even hardly handle. It even reached past his limits when Yeonjun opened his eyes and locked glances with him, singing the lyrics from his wide smile; dedicating the affectionate song to him, because he was the one that Yeonjun wanted in his whole life.

“You're everything that I want, bunny.” He said while singing, recalling the song's lyrics, “And you'll ever be the everything that I wanted.” Yeonjun's eyes crinkled, in favour of his smile taking more amplitude.

Soobin felt humidity welcoming its presence to the corners of his eyes, and for that, he brought closer the older, embracing him to never letting him go; to never letting go the angel reciprocating his gesture on him; to never letting go the light that sparkled his world colourfully; to never letting go the most perfect human being, which corresponded with the name of Choi Yeonjun.

He heard said male laugh at the side of his neck, breathlessly, probably because he noticed the crystalline reflection on his gaze, hence the reason why he continuously rubbed the small of his back and sent a squeeze to their intertwined hands. Soobin let the older’s hand place him over his shoulder, guaranteeing him time for himself and a shoulder to cry on, as his fingers carding his scalp silently confirmed that.

It only intensified his need to cry hard.

Yeonjun laid his chin on the taller's shoulder, before puffing out a content sigh, still swaying both of them.

“Happy first anniversary, bunny.” He muttered, depositing a chaste kiss on Soobin's neck, and hugging him with more passion as he could from his only arm, “I love you so much, Binnie. So, so much more beyond the emotional barrier, so much that it physically hurts me to contain everything I feel when you do anything.”

The hyung of them continued planting kisses along the quivering skin of his boyfriend's neck, and moved backwards before capturing the other's chin, lifting his head up to lock gazes.

Soobin knew the expression he was wearing; he could tell it from the way Yeonjun's eyes softened and his smile became more weak, totally touched by his tenderness.

He closed his left eye, unconsciously, as the shorter male kissed near it, which accomplished a tear to slide its way down his blushed cheek. Soon after the unwanted presence of the tear, he felt his older's thumb wiping it away and later stroking the skin, cupping his face and looking at him with so much love that it threatened him to spill all of the salty water gathering around his blurry gaze.

“I love you more than the infinite of our universe, Binnie.” Yeonjun confessed, the most beautiful smile blossoming on his scintillating being.

Before the ravenette could let out any pitiful sound, he was grounded back by the plump lips he already became addicted to. And when he felt them curving up into that smile he fell in love with, it was enough for him to kiss back, his immune system breaking down and permitting some tears to trickle out of his lashes and down his face.

Their kiss started to falter, due to their trembling lips: the younger from the need of retaining his sobs and the older from his giggles. It finally broke off, and Yeonjun laughed with more freedom, wiping his boyfriend's tears as he gave him another peck to try and stop his quivering.

“You're so cute, bunny.” He cooed, his grin letting out harmless laughs, “Don't cry anymore. I didn't mean to make you cry with my confession, because what I said it's true— I love you, Soobin.”

Of course Yeonjun didn't mean to make him cry, yet he always said those types of romantic phrases that easily crumbled Soobin's heart and touched his emotional strings with such easiness.

He contemplated Yeonjun: he watched the wind softly twirling his ocean-like bangs, covering with grace his eyes that conveyed the whole universe, shining bright and only for him; he watched the curvature extending his bulky lips, forming the most beautiful smile he had ever witnessed; he watched the lovely, velvet red spreading his raised cheeks, the colour enhancing more of the prettiness of the male; he watched the most perfect person standing in front of him, smiling up at him, sharing one same heartbeat with him, being the happiest person alive because of him: Choi Soobin.

That thought was the final push Soobin needed to try his best, to try and maintain that smile on the angel's face, who he could call him his.

“I... also love you, hyungie.” He hesitated, finally finding his voice to answer. Also, he couldn't pin back the warm sensation bubbling in his chest when he saw Yeonjun's eyes twinkle as they widened, in amused surprise.

He swallowed the lump tying his vocal chords, but he managed not to break the visual connection, despite the intensity with which the older male looked at him.

“I love you, Yeonjun.” Soobin repeated, more steadily, prompting the reaction of a deeper scarlet painting the older’s cheeks, but his smile remained unmovable, “I love you, so, so much, Yeonjun-ah. I... I know it’s more difficult for me to express my feelings between the two of us...” He sighed, feeling pressured by his lack of words. Yet, it didn’t last long with the help of the shorter male through his caresses on his cheek, cheering him to continue, “But, I’ll try my best to be clear.”

The ravenette locked gazes with his hyung, firmly, before saying yet again:

“I love you. Even more than you do, Junnie.” The confession lingered between them, and it caught Yeonjun off guard, as his raised eyebrows said so. Soobin took it as a sign to resume, “I love you, more than the infinity you said, hyung. Yeonjun, you were and you are the medicine for my happiness, you are the one who makes me laugh and smile when I’m in my worst moments, you are the one who is by my side every time I’m alone and I need someone’s help, you are the one who makes me believe in myself, believe in what I’m capable of, you are the one who told me positive things about myself when I thought I wasn’t enough neither for the world or for you.”

He made a pause to bring back air to his lungs after his rambling, and Soobin noticed the crystalline tears coating Yeonjun’s eyes, still smiling even when his lips were trembling. It was his turn to join foreheads with the shorter male, squeezing their intertwined hands while bringing him closer, wanting to protect him from all the danger of the world.

“You are my light, my salvation, you are my everything, Yeonjun, and I love you so much that I can’t express it into words, but if I did, it would take billions of years to finish it off.” The taller experienced the sting from the corners of his eyes, and he knew he was about to cry again, “I want to be with you forever, be by your side every time you need me and I need you, us becoming one until infinity and beyond... And for that, I need you, Yeonjun.” And when Soobin rubbed their noses together, their gazes matched in their brightness, caused by synchronized feelings, along with overwhelmed tears from their confessions.

Soobin smiled, from the sight of Yeonjun’s teary eyes while he smiled up at him. He still looked as the most beautiful and perfect person he has ever settled eyes on.

And because of that, he would do the impossible to be with Choi Yeonjun forever and ever.

“So, will you be the blue to my orangeade?” He finished, a single tear rolling down his cheek, just as the older let a pair of them fall from his twinkling eyes, before wiping them away, laughing breathlessly in the meantime.

“I didn’t think we would be crying on our first anniversary.” The blue-haired male joked, Soobin joining along with his laughs, lightening the heavy atmosphere established on them. He sent him an adorable smile, cheekbones coming out accentuated, “Of course I will be your blue to your orangeade, bunny. I will forever be with you no matter what, Binnie.”

Soobin only smiled bigger, gaze crinkling and crystalline tears surfacing from it, before he leaned in and closed the gap between them, connecting his lips with Yeonjun’s as his final answer.

It was in very few occasions where he initiated their kisses, letting the other guide him and controlling their dance as the hyung in the relationship, but each time the roles were reversed, kissing Yeonjun felt as intoxicating as always. He added pressure on his lips, receiving his hand travelling through his dark hair, before he began leaving traces of tongue on his lower lip, asking for permission.

The ravenette drank the softness of Yeonjun’s whimper when he introduced himself inside his mouth, and searched throughout with passion all corners of his warm welcome; trying to locate the sweetness of his voice and find his angelic, velvet sounds, while he pressed on the right buttons with the help of his tongue. As soon as the shorter male reciprocated his movements, he felt rising more inside the paradise where his mind floated, his lips itching from the shaky breaths the other left behind when they separated to deepen their kiss, before he sucked on his lip, requesting for his mouth back to kiss him again. And so he did.

A tear fell on his cheek. That took Soobin by surprise, because he knew he wasn’t crying. He broke the kiss, to check if his hyung was the one shedding tears. But, he remained with his eyes closed and lips parted, without any trace of tears marked on his face, still trapped in his own paradise. It took several seconds until he snapped back from his daydream, blinking repeatedly and looking up at the taller through his lashes.

It confused him even more when he started to feel humidity sliding down his scalp, just as his clothes began to absorb dampness, heavily drawing him down and obstructing his capability to move correctly. The couple shared a long look at the other, before they directed their eyes up the sky, and Soobin had to close his right one because of the impact of water almost reaching it.

Oh, was the only thought that crossed Soobin’s mind when he was faced by the view of darkened clouds enforcing their kingdom over the sky, tearing themselves apart and discharging their unwanted presence through ponderous tears upon them. It was raining, again, and the raindrops soaked them entirely within seconds, for it got worse before they could even move.

Blinking in pure amusement, he lowered his gaze to see the reaction of his boyfriend, and he received the sight of him already looking at him, blue bangs flatted against his forehead, eyes shining through his coated lashes, and his big smile raising his blushed cheeks.

Soobin saw the younger version of Yeonjun for a moment, but much more beautiful. Much more reachable.

Much more real. Just as he wished that his dream would come true: that the unreal angel dripped in crystalline raindrops who he met that day under the rain would reciprocate his feelings when he saw him for the first time.

And his dream did come true.

It was a typical cliché of love at first sight, but how could Soobin even contain himself from not falling in love? Choi Yeonjun was objectively and subjectively gorgeous, and his heart was very, very weak.

They both started to laugh out of nowhere, holding each other through their hugging, as they laced hands together; another symbol of their union lasting forever. Soon, they joined foreheads, still giggling under the splashes of the rain with their hand connection held up high, due to their difference in height, and Soobin felt a deja vu of that day; that day where they shared their first kiss.

“We really can’t escape our fate...” Yeonjun breathed out, his pretty smile favouring his eyes to crinkle in happy grins. Soobin had the blessing of contemplating the strong brightness in them, thanks to the raindrops lingering his curled threads, and he really couldn’t hold back the nostalgia bubbling his chest, “Every time we are together, it always rains. It’s like we invoke the rain without realizing it.”

And the ravenette just nodded, since the other’s words were true. Since they met that day in the presence of the raindrops, the rain always accompanied them wherever they went. It didn’t matter if it was winter or midsummer, if the two of them stayed together outside a building for hours, that day ended its cycle through a drizzle, with which the couple ended up wet under it.

At first, they thought it was a coincidence, but after months passed and the phenomenon continued to abide without exception, the two considered that Yeonjun had glued the attraction of bad weather to Soobin. In the end, they settled on classifying the rain as their refuge, where no one could enter or leave without the other by their side; as their symbol that marked how they both needed each other.

They also received complaints from the unfortunates who accompanied them, including the taller’s group of friends. Each time they all got together for a hangout, Beomgyu and Huening let them know how annoying and inconvenient their gift was, while Taehyun simply surrendered to the deluge, with the five males running down the streets to protect themselves from the weather. The couple endured their whining without complaining, knowing glances shared between them, meanwhile they expressed the shame of their “gift” with the blush on their faces.

That memory pushed out a breathless laugh from Soobin. They really invoke the rain whenever they go.

“Yeah...” He sighed, before rubbing their noses together, which he felt the older male reciprocate his gesture softly, “But, I like it. It’s like... our signature, or form of saying that we are together.” Yeonjun laughed at that, finding his way of saying it adorable. Soobin also joined him afterwards.

“I feel like it’s a way from nature to say that we should continue our love indoors.” He joked, snatching more giggles from his bunny-looking boyfriend, “But, yeah... We can interpret it like that, I also like it.” He agreed, looking up at the taller, yearningly.

Soobin returned his gaze back, and then, they were both smiling at each other, narrating their own feelings through their eyes.

“Happy anniversary, bunny.”

Soobin enlarged his grin, lovingly.

“Happy anniversary, Junnie.”

After he saw Yeonjun imitating his curvature on his own smile, he leaned in, as his hyung’s hand guiding him from behind his head indicated so. They finished their moment through a kiss, tasting the same sweetness and saltiness in the other as on the first occasion where they savour the other’s lips, just as in the dates they shared during their time as a couple.

Specifically, it ended when Soobin climbed down from his mental heaven after a full round of making out, and realized the exposure of his polaroid and hence, his photographs to the rain. Dragging a still confused Yeonjun, he made him pack everything as he protected the basket cane, where their belongings rested inside, and hurried up on leaving the place.

He noticed how the shorter male left behind the accessories and decorations, and he was about to question him, but said male cut him off by kissing him, reassuring that nobody walked nearby, due to its farness from the main entrance. That didn’t lift up Soobin’s spirits, both from the location of their motorbike and the abandonment of the pretty decorations, yet with another kiss from his lover was enough to do the task and bring a smile over his wet face.

Even with the rain soaking them to the bones and the certain fact that they would catch a cold because of their clumsiness, it didn’t stop the fits of laughter the lovers had while running through the forest. They could always treat each other, so hence more time together and more vacations from their university schedule. They could also ask Huening for the missing bits.

Soobin had backed up from their running, since sports wasn’t his strength. But, it gave him the advantage of observing Yeonjun’s back; the wings he admired fluttering droplets of water as they extended on both sides of the male, and his halo shining vividly from the lack of light around it: he looked about to fly up to the darkened sky.

Flying up to the sky with him, he corrected afterwards, when Yeonjun gazed over his shoulder and sent him a warm smile, before taking his hand and entwining them to proceed in running faster, laughing carelessly. With just the mere sight of the happiness in his boyfriend, the ravenette started to laugh again, their cheerful sounds ringing across the dusky forest.

They continued laughing, even when they reached the red motorcycle and got on it; even when Yeonjun took the basket cane from Soobin’s grip and placed it on the vehicle’s one, before setting his helmet on his lover’s head as he smiled at him and finalize his task with a kiss; even when they rode through the highway, Soobin supporting himself on Yeonjun’s back and hugging his waist to prevent his fall, as they both shouted to the top of their lungs over the din of rain and wind, full of joy and not caring about the fuss they were making in the middle of the night; even when they entered their apartment all over the other and started to give each other playful pecks until it turned out on another make-out round, their belongings long gone on their lounge’s floor and table.

Even when Soobin easily picked up Yeonjun by his thighs and said male wrapped his legs around his waist as his arms circled securely his neck, continuing with their longing kiss dominated by desire while the taller walked them both to their shared bedroom; even when he dropped the older male onto the bed, wetting the sheets but neither of them caring about that as the taller one crawled on top of him, kissing him breathlessly and letting Yeonjun roam his hands over his shoulders, gripping hard; even when their clothes vanished from their bodies slowly, neglected on the ground as they explored with desperate hands the other’s bare body.

Their giggles lasted forever, until Soobin recompensed Yeonjun from the perfect date he had prepared for both of them, converting his airy laughs into those sinful sounds he loved hearing coming out of his parted lips whenever he touched the right places on his hyung. He made sure to drink in every little sound of his, as he intertwined hands with the older, whispered millions of promises and “I love you”, and pumped him pleasure, so that he would have Yeonjun melted under his strokes, mind blank, and reduced into the babbling mess Soobin most enjoyed seeing him.

With the splashes creating an irregular rhythm against the glass of the windows, the rain returned to appear in their act of love in bed, being a soft accompaniment within the melody that the lovers intoned together under the nightly light of the moon.

Its bluish hue sneaked between the curtains of the apartment, filtering its presence in the loving environment majestically, to drown with its light the lounge as the next victim and afterwards posing its welcome upon the backpack resting on the glass table. Mirroring with dull strength from their lack of power compared with the celestial body, the photographs were blessed by its divine presence; slipping out of their hiding place to receive such glow, and so, displaying the memories imprinted in ink to unpresentable eyes.

Among all of the pictures wanting to take in the celestial light, one of them was chosen by the moon to pour out its prosperity: the smiles of Soobin and Yeonjun of exactly a year ago shining with radiance.

The great joy reflecting on their young faces was the main reason why Soobin took pictures of them and collected them preciously: because with just a simple polaroid and ink, he was able to capture the feelings that the current scenes expressed within the before blank squares forever.

Through the photographs glued in the pages decorated with thousands of small drawings, promises and wish lists that were inked down with the handwriting of the lovers and trapped inside of brown covers, their journey of youth, love and experiences reflected only the visible feelings that were noticeable on the lovers’ faces, in the eyes of others.

But, no one could fully know. No one could know the feelings that the couple experienced in their hearts, the thoughts that were running in their minds, the intensity of the butterflies fluttering inside their stomachs.

No one, except the lovers themselves.

Because they were the protagonists of their story that continued to bloom, and under the splashes of the rain and the body heat of their other half enveloping their being, they would continue to bottle up new and recognized sensations in small photographs and keep them in their journey.

They would continue to stay together for all eternity, as the promise written in the frame of that photograph told so a year ago, and so they would, just as their hands firmly intertwined and kisses shared between smiles promised so.

It was just the beginning of their flourishing story, they knew it, and that’s why they would do the impossible to protect their love blossoming into a beautiful rose, until it would last long, unable to fade, infinite: just like their unconditional love.
