Chapter Text
It wasn’t easy being one of the most important people in the most prestigious international school in the world and Leaf, President of the Student Council at Celadon High, was well aware of the fact. Celadon High was the biggest academy in the world, housing students from across different countries and she worked hard to maintain the institution’s reputation.
Leaf always carried herself with poise and grace, catching eyes whenever she took to the halls. There was something so elegant, well-put together and…
THUD!
The girl found herself smacked to the floor by an unfamiliar boy with brunette hair who had no time for a proper apology. He looked back, shouted “sorry” and went his way.
“No running in the hallway!” she yelled back.
She was in a bad mood as she entered the cafeteria and saw her best friend, Kris, looking dismally at her meal.
“Why do all the barely edible things run out so quickly?” Kris sighed “I really wanted that muffin but a boy beat me to the last one.”
“Boys!” Leaf huffed “Don’t even get me started!”
“Who ticked you off this time?”
“Some kid pushed me to the floor! And said a half assed apology and just left!”
“I’m sorry but the muffin was the only good thing on the menu!” A voice approached them from behind.
“It’s him!” the girls said in unison and then looked at each other “You know him?”
“He’s the guy who stole my muffin!”
“Hey! I didn’t steal anyone’s muffin! That was anyone’s game!”
“Who cares about some muffins? You!” Leaf pointed “You are the jerk who pushed me!”
“R-right!” He clasped his hands and smiled awkwardly “That’s why I came over here. To properly apologise. But you have to understand! The muffin was at stake!”
“He does bring a compelling argument, Leaf.” Kris laughs to which she scoffs.
“By the way,” Kris turned to him, “I haven't seen you around here. Are you new?”
“Yes! I just moved in a couple of days ago from Nimbasa City in Unova! I’m Hilbert! A senior in Class C! Nice to meet you!” He extended his hand and she took it.
“Nice to meet you too, Hilbert! I’m Kris! And this is Leaf! We’re seniors too! Class B!”
“Leaf?” his eyes bulged “Are you ‘the Leaf’?”
“Leaf’s popularity strikes again!” Kris teased.
“Sh-shut up!”
“I’ve heard a lot about you!” continued Hilbert “Everyone talks about how cool and amazing you are!”
She didn’t want to admit it but she was enjoying his description… until he said,
“So, I’m surprised that’s not the case at all!”
“What did you say?”
She pulled his cheek hard but the boy was laughing it off.
“Guys,” Kris, embarrassed, tried to get their attention. “people are staring.”
Leaf immediately let go and turned red.
“Hey! I was just joking! You’re not that bad!”
“Gee. Thanks!”
“Fighting during lunch, president?”
The trio looked to see a tall boy with a smug face towering over their table.
“Leave me alone, Blue!”
‘And who’s this?” He ignored her and turned to HIlbert.
“Hilbert!” said Kris “He’s new! This is Blue Oak! He’s our age! In Class A!”
The boys shook hands and introduced themselves.
“I’ll see you around!” Blue said before bidding farewell.
Hilbert noticed how Leaf had avoided eye contact ever since Blue’s appearance.
“Does Leaf not like Blue?” he asked Kris.
“Oh! They like each other a lot! They’re childhood friends! It’s just…”
“Kris!” Leaf stopped her.
“I’m sorry.” said Hilbert, sensing the tension “I shouldn’t have asked.”
“You really shouldn’t have.” she replied in a monotone “It’s none of your business.”
The transfer student looked visibly upset with himself. Kris felt bad and nudged Leaf’s hand, signalling her to make amends.
Leaf gave her a look but quickly conceded once she realised the boy’s remorse was genuine.
“I’m sorry I was so cold... both before and after you asked about Blue. As Student Council President, I officially welcome you to the school! I hope we can get along!”
She flashed him a sincere smile and from that second, all the reports he had heard about her made so much sense...
