Work Text:
2nd year, and a new transfer student. The blond’s English teacher had announced that next week they were receiving this transfer in their class. Itsuki was stoked to hear this news! It meant another friend that he could have the chance to get to know and grow closer to. And a transfer meant they weren’t from Japan right? Well, that’s how most movies pictured it anyway. Whatever, still a new person!
A week had passed and it was a long Monday. He finally ended up back in his English class to see the transfer standing by the chalkboard ready to introduce herself. Itsuki quickly took a seat at his desk and hung his backpack around on his chair. Oh boy was he excited. This girl seemed really pretty, even if she was pretty flat. Ok maybe that wasn't the first thing he should've noticed but it was anyways, either way he was definitely going to get to know her. Or he wouldn’t let himself live with it for the next couple of weeks if he was being honest with himself. She was way too pretty!
What if the other guys on his soccer team tried to flirt with her and hit on her first? Not on his watch, this girl was all his and he was ready to pull out some smooth moves since he was just such a charmer. Besides that, Itsuki loved people in general, he liked seeing people smile because of him, and he liked the company as well. A people pleaser and person.
The final bell had rung and the teacher told the class to listen up and pay attention. “As everyone already knows this is our new transfer student and I'll let them have the floor now! Be respectful or I'm holding you back after class” He warned before letting the student start. Itsuki finally snapped out of his daze and looked forward.
“Hello, My name is Sosaku Lebedev, nice to meet you all and I hope to enjoy my stay in this classroom.” The transfer student bowed down slightly in front of the class hoping to make a decent first impression. Even if he did stand out a lot compared to the other kids.
Itsuki’s heart dropped. It..was..a guy… and it was a deeper voice than he had expected as well. His mouth was gaping open and he had made eye contact with the albino, what the fuck. He was at a loss for words. He tried to swallow the knot that was building up his throat but he couldn't, it felt dry.
'Stop thinking, stop thinking!’ is all that the blond could tell himself in the back of his mind. Sure he looked pretty ridiculous but not long after he opened them back up again. Everything was going to be alright there was nothing to worry about! He thought it was a girl so it's nothing to worry about, just a new dude to make friends with- this doesn't change anything.
He quickly changed his glance in another direction as another hard lump began to grow in his throat. Sosaku was directed towards the open seat, it happened to be right by the freckled boy. Jesus, he was going to die today. The albino quickly took his seat and got out his needed materials without a second word or making glances towards Itsuki. But unfortunately for himself, he continued to glance back up at him whenever he had finished writing down a sentence or two. He was interested? Why did this albino decide to keep his hair long and his demeanor super feminine? People probably mistook him for a girl all the time, wouldn't that suck? Why was he even albino!? Loads of questions came rushing through the blond’s mind even if it wasn't any of his business, he wanted to know.
He was curious alright? He's never seen someone like him with those icy eyes, and especially with such a pale complexion. It almost looked like the dude was dead, somewhat.
The albino finally caught him in the act and held eye contact once again with him. He happened to study his face for a couple of seconds. “You need to focus on your work and I would appreciate it if you stop staring at me,” he said in a soft but monotone voice. Itsuki. Was. Stunned. He talked to him! A nervous grin appeared on his face.
“Ah, yeah my bad, but my name's Itsuki Takehiko! Nice to see a new face around here” Sosaku deadpanned and looked back up at the freckled boy. He seemed uninterested and irritated. But what for? The boy had barely gotten out any words for goodness sake! He should've at least gotten a chance, even if he seemed obnoxious.
“I didn’t ask nor do I care,” He said bluntly and continued to write. “Ohoho so you’re a feisty one! I see how this game will be played” Itsuki said as he rubbed his chin. Someone playing hard to get! He'd have fun with this newbie, definitely.
Sosaku simply gave him a blank stare and faced back towards his paper. He hated this! First day and he was already being bothered by some dumb jock, hopefully, this was only a one-time thing- he'd take the hint after him being so rude, right?
What was up with this kid? Being so mean straight off the bat like he had some reputation around here to hold, he just transferred for goodness sake. Itsuki chewed at the end of his pencil, staring at Sosaku, as he thought about it more. He had to make this kid like him; it's not like he was that much of a nuisance. Sure he was like a total airhead and had zero self-awareness but that didn't take away from his charming personality. You just had to know the dude!
Sosaku peeked back over to catch the dumb jock chewing on his pencil and staring. “Would you quit already? What's so interesting that you have to stare so long, dumbass?” he said with spite in his tone. He certainly wasn't happy for Itsuki to be ogling at him for the whole class period basically.
“Ah- oops nothing! I was just tryna figure out something my bad, but now that you mention it you are an eyesore compared to the rest of- ok well not an eyesore but you stand out! a lot-” Itsuki stumbling on his words and embarrassed that he got caught staring at the newbie. With an exasperated huff, Sosaku tried to think of something to say.
“Ok look I get I’m different, thanks for pointing it out captain obvious.” the smaller male said.
“Not in a bad way! It makes you unique, your eyes are like snowy n stuff!”
“Snowy?”
“Because they're blue and your iris is like a pretty red”
“You're an idiot,” Sosaku scoffed, looking back down on his paper, writing down whatever notes he needed for this class. In all honesty he was embarrassed by that comment. Sure it was a compliment and all but it was one he definitely hadn't heard before. Not like he got many in the first place. Itsuki didn't even think twice about opening his mouth once more “I mean yeah you're right.” he said placing his chin on his hand with a small sigh looking at the chalkboard full of notes he was supposed to be writing down.
Silence followed after his sentence which caused him a slap in the face of embarrassment. The freckled boy let out a small huff and he scribbled on the paper in front of him, slightly frustrated. Whatever it was, it wasn't a big deal! He just had to make the albino warm up to him, that would be simple as pie it had to be. He was going to have to tell his boys about this new kid too! One of them was sure to have this newbie in one of their classes as well, or maybe he'd have him again too! Or well he'd doubt it, the albino looked pretty smart, and you could say Itsuki was the complete opposite, often having to get help on assignments and being held back after class due to missing work. It tended to clash with the athletic part of his life but no big deal, he was too good of a player to lose- he hoped.
The class seemed to go faster by the minute, with no chatter, not a single peep. A couple of minutes later the bell rang and rang to go to their next period, oh boy did he really have a story to tell his friends during lunch.

A couple of periods later it was lunchtime. Itsuki ran to the halls as per his usual routine to find his friends Xavier and Marcus. Itsuki, being the absolute giant he was, ended up bumping into someone smaller (obviously). Shit- heard a binder slam to the ground so once he glanced down.
The situation, somehow, got even worse. It was Sosaku! And the albino didn’t seem pleased with the sight above him. His eyebrows were knotted together and it felt like his gaze pierced through his soul. If looks could kill this blond would be dead on the spot. Itsuki froze and just stared, he shifted off of the floor and grabbed his binder, and stood up. Him, out of all the people at school he could've bumped into. The blond could feel multiple eyes on the pair as he stood still like some sort of deer in the headlights.
“I’m sorry, I should’ve been looking at where I was going-” He quickly snapped out of it once he heard giggles and chuckles emerge from the crowd as he stuck out a hand after the fact the albino had gotten up.
Sosaku slapped it away and kept his icy look locked on the blond. He had a death stare and if looks could kill the blond would definitely be dead by now. “I don’t want a stupid apology from a dumbass like you” he walked past him.
Shit, ok not the plan he has in mind to become friends with the albino but he had to make amends right? He'd just try again at a later time.
Itsuki was left standing there in the hallway dumbfounded till a couple of minutes later Xavier and Marcus came running around the corner and to him.
“Sukii!” Marcus called him and finally slapped him on the back. Xavier let out a rough chuckle “Some girls told us what happened, you really love making a fool out of yourself huh?” Itsuki’s eyebrows furrowed as he pouted a bit. “Look we’re already on bad terms and it’s not anything to joke about!” he said as he crossed his arms in a fit. Xavier rolled his eyes as Marcus let out another laugh.
“God, you’re hopeless”
“Am not!”
“You just ran into someone, you idiot”
Itsuki smacked Marcus upside the back of his head- “ouCh-” he hissed as he swatted the freckled boy’s hand away. “Could you shut up for once Marcus, it's like you always have something to say!” He and the two other boys continued to walk down the hall and teased and bickered Itsuki about his little predicament. The whole situation was pretty embarrassing since eyes lingered. Nothing he could do about it now anyway.
Sosaku on the other hand was frustrated. He didn’t understand why some random jock was trying to become friends with him, and trying to appeal to someone so insignificant as himself. It pissed him off how hard he was trying during his English class. And it made him even more upset that that stupid situation had happened! No matter what Sosaku was going to deny this man’s efforts. He had a couple of marks from crashing into Itsuki, but it's not like he was going to the nurse’s office, it was his first day and he already ended up scuffed up? Embarrassing. There was no way.
Even then it was still annoying to have some energetic freak follow him around and the thought of it sent a shiver down his spine as the thought lingered in the back of his head. He had spoken too soon.
Somehow Marcus ended up making Itsuki feel even worse about the situation and wanted to apologize upfront, an apology where he wasn't late to help and something genuine (not like the first one wasn't).
He could hear heavy footsteps follow behind him as he could hear the blond shout “Sosaku, hey slow down! Can we talk for a second” Did he have to be so loud?
The albino paused in his tracks and waited for Itsuki to catch up. God this couldn't be happening right now. He turned around slowly, Itsuki clapped his hands together and bowed down a bit- “I'm sorry for bumping into you! I really should have looked where I was going” He basically yelled at him as Sosaku stood straight and somehow dumbfounded over this?
“I already said I don't care about an apology from some jock idiot like you” Itsuki was stunned, so he was really gonna play it like that huh? “Ok fine! I thought you were just trying to play it off but since you wanna be a jackass about it then go ahead” he crossed his arms with a huff. He came all this way once more to apologize only to be shut down because of this albino’s ego. Rude!
Not long after Sosaku walked the opposite direction, what was wrong with this dude? He was so stubborn it was insane and made the albino want to pull some of his hair out ok maybe not all that but still! It was irritating how he wouldn't let go of the stupid collision they had.
The blond on the other hand was frustrated, he had to talk to him more though! He didn't understand why he wanted to so badly but it was just that spunk Sosaku brought to the table. And Itsuki always liked landing himself in difficult situations. He turned back to the way he games from so he could go back to the boys, even more explaining and bickering to do great.

Once the lunch bell rang, the next period was history.
But the blond wasn't expecting to see the little midget arrive in the same class as him. Sure it was his first day, so maybe the guy had gotten lost? Whatever- he took a seat in his normal placement as he waited for his teacher to point out the albino and tell him to leave.
Much to Itsuki’s disliking the teacher didn't, Sosaku stayed out by the door. The bell rang- “Alright everyone I'm sure most have heard about our new transfer student, and if you haven't well now you have” the lack of emotion in his voice hurt Itsuki's soul. He sounded so boring. But wait, was Sosaku in this damn class too? Jeez, the blond really got the short end of the stick huh?
He was pretty sure he hadn't noticed him yet either so that was a plus and easier way to get to know this albino! Sosaku took a seat, at an empty desk in front of Itsuki. Ohoho this was going to be fun wasn’t it? He crimped up a tiny piece of paper he had ripped out of his notes and flicked it towards the back of Sosakus' head. The albino flinched and turned around to see what idiot had done it.
To no surprise, he was faced with a mischievous grin and a freckled boy. He sighed as he pinched the bridge of his nose out of frustration. “What do you want!” he said in a harsh whisper. The other students were talking amongst themselves but Sosaku didn't want to be loud with his bitchy tone. “Ohh nothing~ I'm just surprised to see you here,” he said with a smug tone as his lips seemed to curve more. His face resembled a sly cat and something Sosaku wasn’t very fond of.
“Well I wasn't allowed to choose my placement this year so I can assure you next year you won't see much of me!” he huffed turning back around scribbling on his paper and writing more things down. “Unh uh! I still got some more payback for you since you think you're such a hotshot” he reached over and lightly pulled on a strand of his hair. “Ow! Can you knock it off already, you're an idiot who doesn't know any boundaries, nothing less and nothing more,” he said without hesitation.
Well, that kinda hurt to hear out loud but whatever! Who says that it’s true when it's only coming from some grumpy midget. “I'm not an idiot! You're just an asshole I’m trying to be nice!” he answered back flinging another piece of paper at him.
“I already said I don’t want to deal with an idiot-”
“Boys enough! I'll see you both after school for detention, I expected better from you both” he said with a huff which made the whole class go silent and stay silent for the rest of the period for that matter. Itsuki wasn't happy about it and neither was Sosaku. Now they were going to be stuck with each other, for a whole hour after class! He was doomed- and he knew his coach would get a hold of this news somehow too. He was probably in for about two good lectures now.
